on the way to Munich soon. Lots of anxiety re navigating the airport to train station vs just plunking out for a huge taxi fare. Your video was like a therapy session that has wiped out the angst and filled me with confidence. Many thanks, and brilliant work.
Hi Pat, it's great to know you found the video useful. I didn't fancy the big taxi fare either and this saves a lot of money. Hope you a great time in Munich 🙂 Paul
This was great paul, not sure how you coped on the plane with a full football team of adolescent teenage boys but looks like you survived 😂 the airport doesn’t seem that busy! It’s a huge airport took you ages to get to baggage claims! Great idea to show how to catch the train from the airport for anyone wanting to travel this way! Feeling this is the start to some great holiday footage! 👍
I think they were something to do with Manchester United as that badge was on their gear. I wonder if I travelled with some football stars of the future. They were actually OK. The airport wasn't busy and I'd say even less busy for my return flight. I never like to mess with ticket machines as you never know where they are and how to work them, which is not great if people are queuing behind you. Hopefully this helps give people a heads up on what to expect. I have a ton of video footage to edit and I still have some from my Scotland trip. I'm going to have to try to do 2 videos a week some weeks but I struggle to get 1 out most weeks. We'll see huh. Hopefully I do justice in my videos with some of the awesome places I visited on this trip. Thank you very much for taking time to watch 🙂 Paul

Great idea for a video Paul. It can be a stressful time arriving in a foreign country and this is a great idea to help travellers negotiate their way around. You seemed to walk miles in the airport though it did look clean, tidy & modern. I especially liked the design of the glass roof over the square. Anyway hopefully it helps people know what to expect and how to take the stress out of buying tickets. Thanks for watching 🙂

Hi Phil, yeah this place sure wasn't hermit friendly place but needs must. I thought the information might be of use to someone. I was like a rabbit in the head lights when I got to Munich central station 😂 This was from a recent trip so home now. Thanks for this, I'm travelling to Munich in a couple of weeks, and after 24 hours travelling from Australia I like to know exactly what I'm doing because my brain no longer functions!
You're most welcome. I'm the same, which is why I prefer to have any tickets sorted before I arrive so it's less hassle. Thank you very much for letting me know you found the video helpful. Have a great trip 🙂

@@florianlion8215 you're not wrong! I was there in August and just followed the crowd, then waited in a big messy queue for over two hours to get through customs. I was glad I wasn't getting a transfer.
EXCELLENT. Thank you for this. New subscriber ..... Will watch other videos. Heading over in a few weeks. OK- deplane, walk and follow signs to down stairs to shuttle, up stairs, Border check in, to luggage pickup carousel, on to customs/immigration, and out revolving doors to Open Square for car rental? and/or train.
Thank you very much for the subscription. And yeah that's about the gist of it with the train station being just across the square after the revolving doors. I'm not 100% sure where car hire is but I suspect it will be just before you get to the revolving doors. I have some videos on my channel from Munich but I spent most of my time in Berchtesgaden, Salzburg and Hallstattt whilst on the trip 🙂
Well that was certainly interesting. The airport looks spectacular and very luxurious. Something very exciting about the hustle and bustle of an airport even though I probably won't be flying anytime soon, LOL. Thanks for bringing us along on your trip.
Hi Darren, I found it to be a clean and efficient airport. Hopefully people travelling to Munich airport will find it useful. Thank you very much for watching 🙂 Paul
Brilliant share, for em personally, I`d rather get to the airport by train that leaving the airport by train, flying do take a toll on my body, especially long haul flights so whenever I land, I can never wait to get a taxi to get me out of there.
I'm glad you enjoyed it and I can relate to wanting to just get to your final destination. However this wasn't too bad as I was staying a 2 minute walk from a train station. Thank you very much for watching. Have a great weekend.
Hi Paul this will be really helpful for people. Couldn't watch much as I have eye inflammation after an infection Alf gave me but I needed hospital treatment for and its still sore to watch screens. All is OK, no damage to sight but I have to rest my eye. I'll catch you properly as soon as possible. I've been trying to let people know I've not deserted them ! ~ Anna 👍
Hi Anna, sorry to hear about your eye but very glad to hear it's not too serious. Hopefully it's all better for when I churn out the really good stuff from my recent trip to Germany and Austria. Rest up and have a great week 🙂Paul

Great information for folks traveling to Munich, Paul. Enjoyed the airport walk thru and train ride. But, why would anyone head to Munich this month? 🤣🤣🍺🍺🍺❗But, is the biggest beer fest in the world Hermit Friendly? 😁😁

Hello Paul, I'm surprised the airport is not crowded or maybe just where you went? That's quite a long way to walk from the jetway to baggage claim, which made you huff and puff a little😂😂. What a neat airport! I loved their canopy at the area before you went down the train platform. Very convenient and tons of choices for your trip to be cost effective. 30 ground platform , that's a massive place! Thank you this is informative! I'll aak Lola if we can go there.😊
Hello IJ, yeah it wasn't too busy and I'd say less so when I flew home from there. I thought you liked my heavy breathing 😂 I guess running up that big flight of stairs with a 6kg backpack didn't help. I'm just unfit 😂 I also thought the canopy area was pretty neat. I always like to have my tickets beforehand if I can. Nothing worse than using a ticket machine you've never used before with someone queuing behind you. And Munich central station sure is massive. I was like a rabbit in the head lights when I first got there 😂 Not a hermit friendly place. I'll have some very scenic videos from my trip coming along in the next few weeks/months so you might be asking Lola can you go for sure 🙂 Thank you very much for taking time to watching. Have a great week 😘 Paul
@TheHikingHermit The huffing and puffing just reminded me of my own unfit self. Haha, you have 6 kg excuse, and I don't. But anyway, it looked like you had a good trip. I was wondering where the noise coming from before you've deplaned, then I saw the teens in their uniform. Well, have a great day or dawn or whatever time you have.
@@iJSabelle007 I'm not as fit as I used to be. Need to get my arse in gear. I think those teens had something to do with Manchester United as they had that badge on all their gear. It's evening here but have a great day or dawn or whatever yourself.
Thank you so much for sharing this video, my family and I will be visiting Munich this Summer and I love videos that can help me prepare! How long would you say it took from the moment you got off the plane to when you arrived at the train at MUC? I am trying to figure out what time to buy our train tickets for if we purchase them in advance. Thank you!! :)
You're very welcome. I'm so glad you found the video useful. The video is pretty much all the walk from plane to train except a short shuttle transit, border control, waiting for luggage and customs. It took me around 40 minutes in total but you're at the whim of the border control queue and how quick the luggage is available. On this occasion both were pretty quick. As for tickets I wouldn't buy one for a specific time but check out buying a group day ticket for all of you. I think you will find this to be more cost effective and you won't be worrying about getting from the plane to train on time. Here's the link www.mvv-muenchen.de/en/tickets-and-fares/tickets-daytickets/group-day-ticket/index.html You need to buy the zones M-5 and here are details on that www.mvv-muenchen.de/en/tickets-and-fares/tickets-daytickets/airport-city-day-ticket/index.html You can then also use the same ticket should you want to travel within Munich the same day. I hope that helps. Have a great trip, Paul
Very informative and helpful sharing you’ve done 👍 Thanks Paul. No doubt many would have had benefited from this. That’s a really long walk all in all! We would be arriving at Terminal2 and then proceed to Terminal1 to further head to the S- Bahn metro station. *Is there a luggage storage facility at terminal#1? Where exactly would it be located?* We have a 7 hrs layover at MUC before we proceed to our next flight. We’d like to explore 2 hours in the Marketplace. Approximately how much time should we allot from the time we land at Terminal#2 to reaching the Market City Center? Pls advice Much appreciate your guidance. Thanks
Hi Elaine, I'm so glad you found the video informative and useful. It was indeed what I thought was the longest walk to get through the airport and the short shuttle ride threw me a bit at the time. As for luggage storage there is indeed a facility where you need to follow the baggage storage and/or left luggage signs. Here's details on it www.munich-airport.com/left-luggage-851650 For getting to the market place from the time you land I'd allow at least 2 hours but it mostly depends on how quickly you get your luggage and get through passport control. When I was there these were both quick and I was in the city centre in less than 90 minutes after landing. The train takes approximately 45 minutes from the airport to the city centre. However you have added time of getting from Terminal 2 to Terminal 1, which I believe is a short shuttle ride and then storing your luggage. I hope that helps, Paul
Hello Paul once again 😊 really appreciate you taking time to respond to my queries. Will assimilate your inputs closely and in case I do encounter a doubt yet, will be back again. You are really helpful. A big thank you 🙏🏼
Hi Paul It is very new to me to watch Paul's Complete Travel Guide. Whom are you following? 3:30??? Oh, the airport is rather quiet and a lot less PPL fill the seats comparing with ones in the US. International or domestic??? hahaha You cannot wait for the escalator, so did you take stairs?? You cannot stand lazy PPL front of you, right?? I see you rushing up stairs like your hike 9:52 Is there any recommendation to avoid season or time to travel with the train? Any other options? Well I am not familiar with this area..no inquiries... Thank you, Paul for tips. ciao
Hi Ms Kayak, something a bit different from me I guess. Tho I do like to know what's what before I go and these kinds of things help people, hopefully. I found Munich airport to be very clean and efficient but strangely quiet. I usually take the stairs to get ahead of the crowds. I'm not sure what season to avoid the train or a time. Tho they are every 10 minutes and most trains are packed (or the ones to and from the airport I was on were). One recommendation I would give is walk to the end of the train when you get on at the airport. That way it is likely to be less busy and less walking time at Munich central station. There are other options which include the Lufthansa bus and of course the taxi. i was staying near a train station just outside Munich centre so with luggage the train made a lot of sense and didn't hit the pocket too much. i went into Munich centre for food that evening using the same ticket. I sill have tons of video to process. Thank you very much for watching 🙂👍Paul
I think I was as I was on a flight from Manchester. I did try to keep faces out of the video but did wonder how many of them would be football stars of the future.
Hey Paul, did you fly in from the EU or outside? Only reason I am asking is I saw a different video and the person had stated they almost immediately went through customs after they got off the plane, but they were for me outside of the EU so I’m wondering if you experience might’ve been a little bit different? I’ll be coming from America
Hi Natalie, I was flying from the UK so technically now I am flying from outside the EU since we dropped out of the EU. I have to admit this was the longest walk ever to get to border control and baggage claims. I arrived at Terminal 2 but it would seem I arrived at the satellite of that terminal and hence the need for a shuttle. Hope that helps 🙂Paul
You can use either platform to get to the city centre as all trains head to the city centre from the airport. The train takes 40-45 minutes to get to Munich central station.
This was arriving at terminal 2 and it sure was a long walk to get to border control and baggage claims. The shuttle had me a bit confused at first but yes you do need to take it as the signs all point that way for the fastest way there.
Hi Mark, yeah you would be best with a Bayern ticket or if travelling a lot by train whilst in Germany then they have a new monthly ticket by subscription for 49 euros. There are links on how to get a Bayern ticket as I used one to get to Berchtesgaden are in the description of this video ruclips.net/video/tucMDdQI3GE/видео.html. The links in the description also highlight what application to use or just use the website. I describe in the video if interested in watching. The link to the monthly ticket is here int.bahn.de/en/offers/regional/deutschland-ticket I should probably add that new option in the description of that video. Hope that helps but if you have any more questions let me know 🙂Paul
In one video on RUclips, a guy told that you have to go through immigration first and then baggage claim? But you didn't show it also this Munich airport looks different to me then the other Munich airport 😂 what's this? I am talking about this video! ruclips.net/video/_GR6Zp93tSQ/видео.htmlfeature=shared
Hello, you do have to go through immigration first and then baggage claim at Munich Airport. I didn't show immigration as there are usually signs saying no video, photos etc in this area. This is the same for customs where I also stopped filming. I do say in the video when I'm about to hit these 2 spots and stop filming. Munich Airport is pretty big and I just filmed my journey from plane to train landing at terminal 1. I can't speak for what the other guy did. For instance there was no real need to take an elevator which he did. If you have any specific questions about the airport then I will try my best to answer them for you.

Hi Dave n Kathy, well I hope the video proves useful to some people. I know I like to know what's what before I go if I can. I had a few beers while I was there. It's strong stuff. I think I've had weaker wine 😂 I visited a few places that were not very hermit friendly whilst there. I must be getting sociable 😂 Thank you for taking time to watch 👍Paul

@@mikaylag9146 you're most welcome
Very informative and helpful sharing you’ve done 👍 Thanks Paul. No doubt many would have had benefited from this.
That’s a really long walk all in all!
We would be arriving at Terminal2 and then proceed to Terminal1 to further head to the S- Bahn metro station.
*Is there a luggage storage facility at terminal#1? Where exactly would it be located?*
We have a 7 hrs layover at MUC before we proceed to our next flight.
We’d like to explore 2 hours in the Marketplace.
Approximately how much time should we allot from the time we land at Terminal#2 to reaching the Market City Center?
Pls advice
Much appreciate your guidance.

Hi Paul
It is very new to me to watch Paul's Complete Travel Guide.
Whom are you following? 3:30???
Oh, the airport is rather quiet and a lot less PPL fill the seats comparing with ones in the US. International or domestic???
hahaha You cannot wait for the escalator, so did you take stairs?? You cannot stand lazy PPL front of you, right??
I see you rushing up stairs like your hike 9:52
Is there any recommendation to avoid season or time to travel with the train?

Great Details. Thank you for the video.
You're very welcome. I'm so glad you found it useful 🙂
You must have been in the same plane as the Man United youth team, based on the number of kids in the video but appreciate it a lot!

You have been traveling to a nice place❤👍👍👍
This was the start of my trip to Germany and Austria so lots of videos coming 🙂
Do you remember which s bahn platform you went down to?
You can use either platform to get to the city centre as all trains head to the city centre from the airport. The train takes 40-45 minutes to get to Munich central station.
Thanks for this video.
Which terminal did you arrive at? And you have to walk so long to pick up your luggage and you definitely need to use the shuttle?
This was arriving at terminal 2 and it sure was a long walk to get to border control and baggage claims. The shuttle had me a bit confused at first but yes you do need to take it as the signs all point that way for the fastest way there.
Wouldn't it have been better to take the elevator down, since he met on your way?
I was just following the signs and they didn't point me to an elevator tho it may well have been the quickest route 🙂
Catching up. Looks like it was relatively empty
Thank you very much. The airport did seem very quiet
Which terminal did you arrive at? And it takes so long to get the luggage.
It's the longest walk I have ever taken upon arrival at an airport

Heading to Passau in Oct, should I purchase a Bayern ticket? Would that be purchased from the MVV site?

Crazy long 2 hour travel journey to get the baggage.. Very easy to miss some sign or get lost..
Yeah this sure was a long way to baggage claim and that short shuttle ride had me confused at first. Had to keep a close eye on the signs 🙂
,,..❤❤❤
