  • Welcome to a brand new video series I am calling "Let's Talk." "Let's Talk" entails my personal opinions, experiences, beliefs on whatever type of subject matter I feel like talking about that isn't solely related to Toku or animation. I mean, there may be episodes that end up doing just that, but for this series premier I talk about my experience as a teacher and why I decided to quit.

    Well, i'm glad that you finally find your pace and this channel honestly is my guilty pleasure every time i wanna watch a toku review. I stop by here. In a more serious note, I am a college student who shifted from Secondary Education i was taking a Science major however due to family experiences with relatives especially due to how poorly done some of the admins are and the toxicity of parents as well as hard to bear students while i cannot fully say it was that greatly influenced me as i felt that SecEd was fun but it wasn't for me. I shifted and now i am taking Tourism and while some relatives have discriminated me that i will have no place at the job industry yet i am determined as Hotels and Airlines are my passion.
    Good luck to your future careers, Marcus/Kaiju

    Thank you for doing this new format. I love it.
    This might be one of my favorite videos you've ever done. This was communing with a peer in a way our generation I think severely lacks. You've hit on a good pulse with this in that it's your stream of thought on a specific topic that isn't a response video like everyone else and isn't political. It's just a universal discussion, an open letter, and an extremely interesting one. The topic itself you cover here is llike reading an ancient Greek account. You're speaking directly from experience about the contemporary world in an objective but not necessarily journalistic manner. It's got a lot of rewatch value and I encourage you to continue making videos in this format whenever it strikes your fancy. I'm a captive audience.
    Btw, now that you're not teaching anymore, would you consider chatting sometime? Feel free to email me; I've got a whole bunch of stuff we could collaborate on in whatever capacity you might have time for. Obviously though, my big thing is games - but I'm happy to talk storyteling, and either way I'm interested in finding ways to join those two fields. I also do toy design.

      lol The political video will be next. 😀 However, yes, the Let's Talk are going to be videos for whatever topic I want to share (or Cruellica wants to share as she has some in mind).
      As for emailling you, let me finishing up 2024 first as I'm trying to pump out as many videos as I can right now because I really do need to increase my subscribers count and ad revenue so I can justify not teaching anymore. I gained like 200 new subscribers over the summer and now I've stalled.

      @@TokuAndAnimationNewsNetwork I'm not sure what my availability will be next year, but feel free to check back then. I do hope though that you don't work yourself so hard here that you end up not even having time to correspond through email or have a quick phone call for the next three months. I've been in that trench many times and it's never fun. Either way, may the juice be worth the squeeze.

    I gotta give u props for being a teacher because I honestly can't imagine. Between lack of pay, along with terrible administration, parents and kids its a sacrifice that we all thank u for doing. But specifically the administration you talked about OMFG that's bullshit. Like everything you talked about is just insane to think about. The testing stuff really pisses me off to hear though, as even while I'm in college rn I still hate taking tests and I've struggled taking them. Also I'm sorry but the minute you said Coyote Creek it instantly made me think of Cobra Kai lol (idk if you watch that show or not). Lastly, I feel old knowing that RACE is still a thing being used (I remember using that in school).

    • @TokuAndAnimationNewsNetwork
      @TokuAndAnimationNewsNetwork  11 дней назад

      I am not a test taker myself, so I hate that that is how we are required to measure a student's success. The reason they say tests are the only thing that matters is because it's the only data point that can be recorded. It's llike, they're freaking kids, these test scores mean nothing until they're in high school anyway, and even that is questionable. Let kids be kids!!

    • @maingamer6846
      @maingamer6846 11 дней назад

      @@TokuAndAnimationNewsNetwork Exactly. That’s stupid that all they care about is test scores. And idk if you experienced this at all and I’m kinda curious cuz I don’t believe u mentioned it in the video, but what like what about the kids with disabilities? As a person myself like I always got the accommodations I needed but I doubt those schools do anything for those kids

    • @TokuAndAnimationNewsNetwork
      @TokuAndAnimationNewsNetwork  11 дней назад

      @@maingamer6846 It depends on the student. They are required by law to give assistance to those with disabilities as long as the disability is documented. The problem with the kid I had with no social skills was there was no documentation, so they "couldn't" do anything about it.

    Just wanted to let you know when I was in elementary school in the 1990s what you described never happened to me as a student. In pasco county the county where luve in Florida it is similar to what happened to you. But some teachers nowadays ask really dumb things like what gender are you and also some students are deemed troubled for no reason and transford to another school for no reason. I think was really cool when you praised a student for their reading and they saying they watch anime subbed. It is a good helping tool.

    That was interesting to hear about I agree with you school doesn’t care about their students I have ad/hd supposedly and other autism and disabilities and the districts i have been in has evaluated me for 10 years and didn’t had me learn anything that would help me and only had me us a calculator for math in my whole life. For my brother it was worst he’s younger then me I already graduated a year ago and for his whole life he had to be in a class with only autistic kids even tho his autism wasn’t so strong and when he went to high school it got bad for him like two years ago the high school i graduated at had my brother stay locked up in the classroom and not have him talk to his friends or have his school computer all because he watched real life murder cases and one of the assistant principals called the cops on him and he almost got arrested and after that he got suspended from school and my mom got a lawyer and screw that school and thanks to that lawyer me and my brother are in the 18+ program which I’m pretty sure you might have heard or know what that program is.

    It hard to be a teacher

  • @marcmeinzer8859
    @marcmeinzer8859 7 дней назад

    First of all, substituting isn’t really teaching, but rather babysitting. So in a way it’s really supposed to suck, which of course it does, so it’s not like I’m disagreeing with you, because I’m not. But aside from that, what’s wrong with teaching boils down to these issues: if they’re not going to allow you to run your own classroom then it’s time to walk out, without even bothering to give notice, which in 7 years I did twice. So I practice what I preach. Aside from that the pay sucks, largely because they waste too much money on everything aside from classroom instruction. And of course the kids are poorly behaved largely because they’re allowed to act like assholes.
    Teaching is a people job and unfortunately for people jobs most people are assholes. That’s why successful men are more interested in things as opposed to people. When you find yourself down at the bottom of the white collar world as you are in teaching you’re really better off just learning a trade so you’re at the top of the blue collar world instead. Which is why I quit to be first a merchant seaman for 8 years and then later on a barber for 20 years. Merchant seafaring was an easy out for me because I made sure to go to the Coast Guard to get my mariner’s document just as soon as I got out of the navy back in 1981 where I was a submarine quartermaster.
