  • The Pride of Cincinnati - located at 8109 Reading Road on US Routes 25 and 42, 5 minutes to Cincinnati Gardens, 15 minutes from Crosely Field. A private Swimming pool, Cocktail Lounge, Room service, and free television in every room. Stop on by to see what all the buzz is all about. That was a Drake Motel postcard from the 1960's, this is what has become of Drake Motel. The Drake Motel was built in 1961 promising to house the wondering travelers alongside Reading Road and Ronald Regan Highway. Hoping to bring in tourism into the Cincinnati Area.

You should have seen The El Rancho Rankin back in the 80s. In Mt Washington. They had to evict tons of squatters and they tore it down.

In addition to US42, Reading Road was also US25 until that highway was decommissioned by the Feds in September, 1973. US25 & 42 ran along Reading Road into Sharonville, where the two routes split with 25 following Cincinnati-Dayton Road eventually into Dayton, Lima, Toledo and Detroit before reaching it's then Northern Terminus at Port Austin, MI......

The interstate motel of Hopple was really bad. I picked up the mattress and there was a huge blood stain on the bottom of it. Picked it up cause there was roaches crawling on me that night in the dark

Update: This motel, along with the also-abandoned Carrousel Inn and Suites nearby, were purchased by Port of Greater Cincinnati Development Authority and will be torn down soon.
The port authority got $17 million to tear down nearly 60 structures in Hamilton County, including these two motels.

@@MatthewSkiba I grew up in Reading and the Drake Motel was a dive 25 years ago. So not hard to see that it got its rep.

It was a great motel. Before I-75 and I-71 made Reading Road irrelevant for traveling between Cincinnati to Columbus

This was incredibly well done especially for your sub count.
I would really dig if you did more sharonville,
My family owned painters restaurant in the 1940s-60s and also porters four way across from the old speed way,

It just occurred to me that you are not documenting the past nor the present but the future. If you are of the opinion the population decline will happen fast, your videos are documenting of what is to come.
