I used be be a fabric and craft department manager at Walmart and the department was HUGE. It’s depressing to see how tiny it is now.
Because so many buy online,it's sad,I for one like to see and touch

I totally noticed that when I went last week, I was shocked. What they actually _had_ was pretty decently priced, but the selection was gone. 🥺

My Walmart yarn , fabric, and craft department is very sad looking these days. If my Walmart looked like your it would be a huge improvement.
I was in my local Wal-Mart recently and it's stocked similar to yours. There's not much choice there to suit me but that's me. I suppose I'm kind of spoiled with Michael's and Hobby Lobby's choices. Thanks for sharing!

It’s crazy how different Walmart yarn departments are from store to store! My Walmart barely has a quarter of an aisle of yarn that is mostly Red Heart Super Saver and a couple of Mandala Sparkle and Premier Puzzle yarns. The section is also sparsely stocked and the skeins are falling apart! 😢😢 you have a HUGE selection…I’m jealous! My Walmart doesn’t even stock their own Mainstay yarn.
For reference…my Walmart yarn section is the size of your needle and hook section.
My Wal-Mart only has 1/2 an isle if that! I hit Michaels and Hobbii online! Ridiculous on Wal-Mart's part and very sad selection in my opinion! Thanks for the awesome video! Lots of 💘 from Texas!

Half the cost buy the items at a dollar store and print off a pattern.

Super saver is red heart, not Walmart. The mainstays is Walmart brand. If I'm not mistaken.

My Walmart has one side of an isle. About a third is Redheart and Mainstay one third is hooks and books and.looms and the rest was about the same as yours Puzzle, Mandala etc….

I totally agree about the unstocked yarn shelves at Walmart stores.Somebody should tell the yarn companys (super saver Bernat etc.) maybe they can tell Walmart to get the shelves filled

Our Walmart yarn is almost gone. I've talked to the Walmart CEO and he said that people aren't contacting him or his staff in large enough numbers. If we don't want to lose our yarn we have to speak up people.
I went shopping in the yarn isle at my local Walmart. It was a pretty similar set up but a bit more organized. I of course picked up a few balls of yarn lol

One tea or hand towel from the dollar store or thrifted, scraps of any yarn, optional button from your stash or old clothing (you can substitute a ribbon or a short chain of yarn for the closure), your imagination. That's all you need to make those oven door towels. Not worth $15 for a "kit", in my humble opinion. Spend that money on a carton of eggs.
Yarns made in China will continue to be in shorter supply as time goes on. Pretty much anything made in China, with notable exceptions, will be so. India might be next to become more scarce. Best to get used to that and plan accordingly. Look for the things from Turkey and of course North America if you want to be more certain of future supplies.
My Walmart yarn section is 8 ft long. I love your Walmart yarn section.
The yarn aisle consists of about a 1/4 of an ailse at my Walmart. I have to go to Hobby Lobby or Michael's to get a good selection.

In our Galax, Virginia Walmart, our craft department has dwindled down quite a bit possibly due to Hobby Lobby opening up not far from this store. I hated it, because I purchased all my yarns here, materials, canvas, etc. I'm not sure how the Walmart generic yarn is.

I don’t buy pioneer woman bc I feel like she’s so greedy. Her net worth is $55 million and her husbands net worth is $200 million. She’s got enough money already
Yeah but her husband worked hard for his money. I'm not a big fan of pioneer woman either. But I've read that they are racists like Paula Deen. I've seen the pioneer woman make slightly insensitive comments on her show about race and play it off like she's naive that she's being racist.

I tried the pioneer woman yarn...the soft stuff, and absolutely HATED it. It shed worse than my cats!...and now knowing that she's a racist (didn't even know there was a show...just thought it was a brand only), yeah...no. She can keep her crap.
I've noticed that RH's SS yarn that looks "squared off" on the ends as you said, is softer. Yup.
I wish the Walmart reverted back to the old one with a bigger crafting section :(

I've made a couple of good bags from peaches and cream. And a cross body for my granddaughter. Oh and beach bags for my sisters, one year.
My Walmart is sad. But I do visit the yarn section when I go just to see what they have.

Looks like my local Wal-Mart. It isn't filled or straightened up...Lots of empty boxes and shelves...Wal-Mart has failed in its yarn section. Many many years ago, Wal-Mart took care of its craft dept, today it looks bad.

The Walmart closest to me has *no* yarn!! Hobby lobby _is_ better quality, but you have to buy so much for even a quick project! It really adds up.
The Walmart in my area had a lot less yarn. I had to order online so that I could finish a project.
Put your dishcloth and your scrubbys in the top dish drawer in your dishwasher to wash them they wear really well.
Wow!!!! Our Walmarts here in Ontario Canada, look the same! One big difference,,,,,we’re much more $$$!!!

My local Walmart yarn department is depressing, it is down to about 12 different skeins of yarn. I am sure it was just a slip but Red Heart is not Walmart Super Saver. Red Heart Super Saver is owned by Yarnspirations, Walmart just happens to be one of the retailers that sells it.
I’ve not seen the Pioneer Woman’s yarn and I’ve looked for it.
Well, you’re not missing much. I think it’s overpriced and the cotton feels rough. I do think the colors areas out though!😂
As for the fuzzy stuff? Hope you like vacuuming. It sheds a lot! Not worth the money.
Your Walmart has more yarn than mine, believe it or not! And the prices are cheaper. And I live in the Midwest.
Ginger I just bought Sherpa yarn on clearance from Michaels 5.00! It was 89 yards I believe. I want to make infinity scarf you had tutorial for.
Awesome M.H! I think that you will need to use a larger hook with that yarn… Maybr try a 9 mm hook with it instead of the 7mm so the stitches won’t be so tight? That yarn is so Squishy and soft and wonderful!
Most of the yarn to fill those shelf holes is above in the top stock bins (you can see it). Horrible zoning on the part of the associates who cover that area. That store must not do the 2--4pm daily mandatory zone & downstocking.

Yeah, the craft stock at the 3 Walmarts in my general area are either the same as this or worse. None of them have any Lion Brand aside from the Mandala cakes. I don't think the one near me has gotten in any new needles/hooks/notions since 2019, and none of them had that Pioneer Woman line even though the rest of her brand is pretty well represented in other departments. At least I'm lucky enough to live in an area with pretty much every other big craft store nearby, but they can get pricey (the most affordable was AC Moore & sadly they're gone).
Not only do my local Walmarts have less yarn than yours, but the prices a much higher!
Walmart is the Mainstays and the super saver if from Yarnspirations company, a few times you called it WalMart super saver. ☺️

It is called Red Heart Saver. You sometimes called it Walmart Super Saver.

Wow, I thought it was just Puerto Ricos Walmart that had low stock. I've been having a hard time finding good yarn, and in abundance.
The cloth disappeared from Walmart, and now the yarn is slowly disappearing. I hate to see just one skein of a type/color. Most patterns need more than one! It is all so messy. Where is the employee/store pride? Or are the employees just so overworked, they don’t have time to keep it neat?

The fat beige yarn in the beginning is A chenille., back in the day we would make a zip up baumer jacket

Great prices at US walmarts. Our Canadian prices for yarn are Ridiculous. Michaels new yarns were $15!!
Hobby Lobby has several aisles of yarn and often on sale! The best selection is at Hobby Lobby!
the Walmart in my town is the only place that sells yarn, and it's display looks like what you are showing, understocked and small. I usually have to either order from redheart online, or drive 30 miles to the next biggest town, and go to Joann's which also sells redheart. sad really :(

walmart in canada got rid of all there fabric almost nothing for yarn that why l go to the US to shop for yarn
Those are not Walmart Super Savers, that’s Red Heart. If you have the Walmart App on your phone you can scan barcodes and check prices. Your Walmart is much better stocked in the yarn aisle than mine is.
My Walmart is redoing the store. I hate it. The shampoo, hand cream, make up is now over by home goods. They have clothes next to the groceries. Whose big idea was that? The yarn is non-existent (less than 1/2 row). I not going back to that store until they finish and hope I like what it ends up like. Going to have to travel further and go to another Walmart and hope not all the store are being redone.
Wow! your store still has a lot of yarn, ours (in the new set up, they say it's what all the stores are going to look like) only half an isle or a little less and only on 1 side They are making it so you have to shop at Michaels, Hobby Lobby, or Joanns We don't live close to an of these so only yarn shopping when I can go out of town or order online Not nice Wal-Mart 😞 😢
Right? I’m nervous about all of the shelves being so empty. I worry that they won’t fill up those empty spots and just consolidate the space!😭
@@theYarnGeek No What I was saying is that our store got re-do/over hauled and was told that Wal-Mart is changing all there stores to be the same So we used to have a full isle (both sides) of yarn, and now we have only half or less of yarn and also only on 1 side But it's not just our yarn, but also fabric has been cut way back too! So I hope you can get what you want at yours for now, because it might be your store to get done next! 😞I am at least an hour from Michaels, Hobby Lobby, or Joanns So like I said I make a list and try to get what I need when I can get out
Walmart s Mainstay has the best price but all the different fabric stores have downsized their yarn depth. Hobby lobby ha the super soft "I love this yarn" but the price is so high I just can't do it.

I like Susan Bates hooks better and the chenille yarn at the Dollar Tree.
Agree! I’m using the dollar tree chenille in a blanket because it works in great with the weight of my yarn. Only problem is finding enough skeins to complete my project! 😅
Yeah, my Wal-Mart is decimated. It's the4 only store with yarn for 75 mi. Drat!
It seems like my Walmart is not restocking. It seems like they’re just gonna sell until they run out of yarn and not restocking. That’s my worst fear because that’s the only place I can buy Yard as I don’t shop online and there are no local yarn shops in my town.

Walmart here doesn't have anything other than Red Heart Super Saver worsted weight which I have find to be too scratchy, a few acrylic bulky yarns, and some acrylic baby yarn. It takes up about a third of the aisle on one side. Color choice is very limited and it's just as bare as what you show at your store. Trying to find enough of the same color to complete a project is impossible. Not only that, the crochet hooks and knitting needles are even more limited in size and type. Not worth visiting my Walmart. I have to order online from other yarn and knitting suppliers.

Rancho Cu amonga, CA Wal-Mart has about half as much yarn. Ordered online and the 7 skeins were several different dye lotx. Really disappointed

hi is this a new isle? i never seen any of these at our Walmart. i think that's a really good price, but that's my opinion. and your Emmie is a cutie, she was very engrossed into her yummy cookie. hahhaha!, can i modify it to be on a loom, i think loom knitting is much quicker. but that's by experience! or even on a knitting machine.

Your wal-mart is 4 times bigger than mine. We don’t even have mainstays.
The entire yarn thing is in a sad state. Now it’s only bland colors, worsted weight. About 25 years ago, there was a novelty yarn explosion, and there were several aisles at the craft stores devoted to it. At least the Mainstays yarns are accessible, and I’m doing craft projects where that yarn is useful. I miss all the wackadoo yarns!!! 😢
Michael’s isn’t that much better than Walmart, and the other store is gone. I won’t shop at Hobby Lobby due to their horrible RWNJ political stances.

My Walmart looks just as dismal. What I don't get, is how they can still call this yarn "Supersaver" when it's 7.50 a skein? That's expensive, especially when you consider you'll need a few to make anything. It's sad, because it used to be cheaper to make things, than to buy them, and now it's flipped.
