In addition to the disc filter mentioned by others, this video also doesn't show replacement of anothet gasket on the lower round housing. My 2 filter kits came with two gaskets so they both can be replaced. Nevertheless your videos are always an enormous help so thanks for helping us save tons of money bud! Can't thank you enough.
Thanks Eddie! Your videos have saved me thousands on going to a mechanic. Did my first summerization DIY this year and it went off without a hitch. New fuel filter, oil change, lower unit change, and impeller change
Good videos Eddie, clear, well shot good advice and you don't repeat yourself like some RUclipsrs. Your advice on taking a pic of the belt is great - because it looks easy before you take it off, even if you try to take a mental image. Then you look at the manual and inevitably it's different because they don't have the Gen 2 filter or something else is different, and the belt goes completely in another path!
There's a small white disc filter that is located down under the fuel filter Assembly that needs to be replaced at the same time that you replace the element fuel filter. Your going to need long needle nose pliers to grab it and remove it with. Typically this smaller disc filter is usually more dirty and filthy than the upper paper fuel filter is!
Thanks Eddie. Looking to buy a Monterey with 6.2. Some people claim the maintenance is difficult on the IO. It doesn't seem that there is anything I could not tackle.
Thanks for you videos Eddie. Very informative and helpful. I have a new “to me” 2005 sea ray 290 amberjack with twin 5.0 mpi. I think it’s the same as your engines. Need to give it a tune up. With this filter do you have to do anything special to prime it after changing the filter or just start it right up? Thanks
@@OnboardWithEddie thanks Eddie. Changed the filters this week. No problems. Super easy thanks to you videos!! Next up is a spark plug change. I saw you video on that as well. Yours look just like mine very tough to get to the plugs!
Thanks, Eddie! Your videos have been very helpful. One thing I'm struggling with is getting the tension correct on the serpentine belt. I'm not a mechanic but am fearful that I may have it too tight. I know in your video you said there should be about a 1/4 inch deflection. What I don't know is how much pressure to apply to the belt? I thought about getting the OTC 6673 gauge but those are insanely expensive it seems. All the forums I've been able to find say they just do it by feel. I don't have a feel for how to do it by feel. Are there symptoms of a belt that's too tight? Or one that is too loose? My boat only has a single 350 MAG so I don't have another engine to compare it too. I may just bite the bullet and pay for the stupid gauge. Thanks for any help!
I don’t believe there is any specs on how tight it should be usually if you can push down with your thumb about a quarter of an inch that’s enough. I know that doesn’t help much. I know I’m just used to putting the serpentine belts on hope that helps.
Morning Eddie, I'm having a re occurring problem with , what appears to be a water pressure problem. I've had the raw water pump replaced as well as the pressure sensor in the rear of the engine. It seems that the problem occurs at around 3200 RPM ,any RPM below that there's no problem. Water temp and water pressure, at digital dash ,as well as Vessel view agree. The code that comes up on the dash is 25 and the engine goes into limp mode. Engine is a 2015 5.7 300 HP. Mercruiser. Any thoughts would be appreciated cheers, Larry
New serpentine belts aren't supposed to crack, they make a tool that looks like a tooth pick with a spot to hold it, it measures the depth of the grooves to see if the belt is worn out or not. Wish I could take a pic of the tool, but more than likely an autoparts store may have one to show you...
Hey Eddie - isn't there an additional filter that resides under the paper guy you changed out? I think it sort of looks like a flat plastic disc and is in the base of the canister. Do you know anything about it?
hello Eddie...I was looking for more insight on the fuel modulator (lol), I don't know the name of it. it has to water hose attach to it, and the plastic broke.....any suggestions
I know this is an older video, but it doesn't show the changing of the other filter screen (part # 35-892665) in the bottom of the module. It should also be changed out when servicing the Cool Fuel Module.
If you have water in your Fuel! You may think it’s you timing. I would change the fuel filter 1st and check for water in the firer. Then if you still have the problem check the time.
@@jozebartol6845 I know they’re not cheap. but, do it every year. that’s kind of, the water separator. It will collect all the water. Thank you for your support

This is great, thanks man. Boat maintenance costs an arm and a leg here in sweden and I am learning that it is usually simply things.

Nice explanation of releasing and tensioning the belt! Thanks for mentioning the wrench size!

Yes I am Aware of the other filter. it was in the video. I don’t know where that part went. I’m going to add it back. In the Spring. Thank you

I have a 2004 5.0 with a Bravo 3 and can’t find the fuel filter just water and fuel separator. Does this set up not have the second fuel filter? TIA
Nice to see you forgetting tools and dropping stuff. Makes me feel better about myself lol.
Another great video.

Hello Eddie, why didn't you replace the filter disc too , its located under the filter that you just changed? thanks
sparky vonvreckin thank you for your support and watch the video. I did change the Diaphragm filter that’s under the cartridge.
Question Eddie???? I have Sea ray 280 with Twin 4.3 efi motors. My port side motor bogs down under a load why is that you think?

great video Eddie, thanks
Hi Eddie, what is the issue with having some rust on the pulleys?
Thanks man a lot... your videos are great!
great video. what is the part number for that cartridge filter?
Hey 'Eddie thanks fort this demo. Why do they call it a
"serpentine" belt?
It looks like a snake? Also, unlike cars, there is no fan to call it a "Fan Belt".

Yes there is. I thought it was in the video. I will check it out and see why. Thank for pointing that out.🤙
The belt map is on the top of the engine.
Great stuff, Eddie. Big Thanks

Have you done a video of doing that filter? I want to change mine.
If only every mercruiser had so much space like in the video to work on.
I know I’m pretty lucky with all the room.
How can you tell the difference between a restricted filter and delayed ignition timing ?
If you have water in your Fuel! You may think it’s you timing. I would change the fuel filter 1st and check for water in the firer. Then if you still have the problem check the time.
What if I broke one of the three bolts while tightening it back up?
There is another filter on the bottom!
Yes there is a diaphragm filter under a cartridge.
@@OnboardWithEddie Thak You Eddie. How often should this filters be replaced?
