Seeing how advanced the process is, imagine how expensive a similarly cut diamond would've been in a time when we didn't have the same technological advancement?
They would be unbelievably expensive compared to even today

That is a huge amount of skilled hands on work and so fiddly. No wonder they are expensive.
I'm surprised there is this much information available. I heard this industry is very hard to get into and it takes a long time to learn how to do this type of work. I was a bit disappointed to not see how the stone is actually cut. And the one stone had a number etched into it and it was not discussed.
Thanks for the comment John. We have another video showing a stone being graded - this is the inscription etched on the girdle of the diamond.
Nope it's not hard to get into this field. The inscription on the Diamond is from the Lab, and it matches the certificate number.
Wow... I can't believe I've been doing it so wrong for years.
What you do wrong?

As my mother's father was a dimond maker as well as merchant, since my boy hood self is started to find out the stones.
i did not know that! very interesting! but there is always lab made diamonds for a fraction of the price and as good or even beather qualety, but they are not "real" diamonds ;)
diamamonds are one of the hardest/rigid materials. Because of that property make them very delicate and quite easy to broke...
*break
What type of loupe is that they are they using?
Ok so they use dimonds to make dimond round. So what do they use to cut it? What material?

I have a unique facet design for a diamond(other stones). something never seen. How would I go about copy writing and developing the design? I believe it would revolutionize the gemstone world and make use of what may have to be cut into smaller pieces/ used as a single gem with more color..
I am very intrigued! I am a faceter, is there any way that you would be willing to share this design with me?

i would like to learn diamond cutting and polishing? anyone know of a good mentor or school?
diamond is unbreakable
***** diamonds are very hard, but they are very brittle
+Yohan AmazingMumbo i see what you did there . WRYYY!!
+Sean P diamonds are not brittle, the way the lattis is set out allows the diamond to be crushed easily
Diamond can be cut with diamond
its hard, not unbreakable, theres a difference
Because we are totally gonna cut a diamond

I have 2 stones, one i think îs Ruby and esmaralde, and one diamond. Can You let me a link to talk?
To break a diamond is another diamond
I want to get into the diamond business 💎
would you c my collection of rough diamonds
But how are they cut in half?
Gosh I wouldn’t have the patience for this
Yeah but, how are 2mm diamonds shaped? I'd believe using your fingers would be impossible at that size....
This was from 8 years ago...I wonder if its still people doing it by hand or if its more robotically done now?!
People still working like that
New machines have entered the market to make certain things easier but ppl still finish the diamond like this. Will be very difficult for AI to overtake this delicate work. A human has to make very complex decisions while working.
hello admin, I want to ask permission to use your video which maybe I will include in the content that I created and uploaded to RUclips, thank you 😊😉

Look it up - polishing stones etc is an ancient art and what you have just seen, and some have just ridiculed, is the truly beautiful result since mankind first flaked off flint to use for cutting meat.
There seems to be no respect for the achievements of mankind because people are so ignorant of history and the effort that has gone before over millennia. The diamond memorializes that to me because I understand historically what has gone before.
Learning to cut stone, and polish stone allowed such wonders as the pyramids to be built and the results at Machu Pichu.
Those wonders, along with poished stone artifacts are the result of strenuous work by previous craftsmen. Regards.
Do u purchase raw natural uncut large diamonds?
Yess,,i purchase
Oh modern
There's some amazing technology used in the process
Thanks for this.
It's a pity some comments reveal a recent propaganda inspired hate for diamonds, they have little respect for mankind's achievements.

Look up quarrying stone, cutting stone, polishing stone, how the pyramids were built, and your little diamond will become another wonder of the world thanks to all the craftsmen who have gone before. I respect them. Regards.
Just wonder what the difference of man-made diamonds and natural diamonds is... Is there a difference in quality?
Typically the man-made ones will be of higher quality.
Hi, good time to you.
I’m Raj currently staying at Malaysia. I’m have found diamonds and I would like to sell it. I saw your website. Wish to hear from you. Thank you.
Natural Rock crystal color less what is this
Good
This comment section seems to be giving out too much praise for diamonds in general. I know some people really do appreciate diamonds, but there there isn't even one single comment pointing out that diamonds are ridiculously overpriced or anything critical of the diamond industry in general. Are you removing all comments who criticise diamonds in any way? (I guess I will know if this is taken down)
There are really only a few diamonds of specific colors that are actually rare. Most of it is just artificial scarcity by the industry not to mention man made are identical to natural ones even professionals can't tell the difference.
You have got to admit the genius of the marketing scheme by de Beers though (even if I don't agree with their fraudulent "scarcity" advertising)
It’s worthless, it’s a nice rock, but it’s not rare at all and the big companies just overprice it
@@bomenorange. You have no grasp or understanding of any history.
You seem to also have no idea of the centuries of work mankind has put into rock cutting and the wonders that came from cutting rock and flint.
You resent people making money but you have no idea of the work that goes into doing that. Appreciate your history man.
It’s Not the quantity that makes diamonds rare it’s the quality. Until you understand that important distinction you will never understand why they cost as much as they do.

what is the excess diamond bits used for, after the cutting process?
I think that spinning wheel they said had a 'diamond paste' so I'd imagine stuff like that.
@@greggilks825 but when they were rubbing the two diamond against each other the diamond became matte... So I think, since car paste its made up of cars, diamond paste isnt made up of diamonds. Instead it is a paste created for diamonds. (This is all theory. I will go do more research now)
(Edit) I did my research, you were right 😅 the excess diamond is used to make the diamond grit grinding wheels.
@@kawaiigacha2088 diamond is actually really cheap and abundant that's why so many tools uses it

Why can't diamond's be cut by high pressure water?.....or can they?
They can be! Laser cutting has a higher precision so it has been adopted into the industry practice.
@@SamaraJamesJewellers Thank's for that!

Seems like a lot of trouble for such microscopic little stones? I still dont get the attraction? Do people want them because they are rare? Because everyone else wants them?
