I always felt like he was a good parent/older sibling because Zim cannonically suffers from multiple (programmed because their sentience is placed inside their cybernetic paks) personality defects which causes him to have a harder time regulating emotions than most other Irkens. He's more prone to outbursts of rage or gets carried away with inflating his own ego, but he also "struggles" with emotional attachments. His birthing scene he immediately became attached to the cold unfeeling machinery that brought him into this world and I believe that what little patience and kindnes he has for Gir stems from that. That and I think that subconsciously He's aware that he is a failure, and he sees his own faulty programming in Gir's fautly behavior.
@CreativeSoul27 i was a little obsessive with this show when I was a teenager back in the mid 2010s. I'm the only person that I knew that could definitively know off the top of my head what color Irken blood was.
If u look close in one of the episodes idk which one but I remedy it's the one where zim replaces dibs bike with pigs I think but anyways there's a scene where dib is knocking down things and u can see him smash a picture with a heart frame of zim and gir so zim cares for him it's just hard for him to control his emotions like u said also in one of the episodes it was a Halloween one where zim a and dib got stuck in dibs mind and zim said I just hope gir is okay out there on earth with those candy zombies (he thought the trick or treaties were zombies I guess) but yeah ur right
ok but, there is a part of one of the comics where Gir dresses as Dib and is taken care of by Membrane, when Gir goes back he makes a comment along the lines of "NO! Membrane is my REAL dad" do waht you want with this
