      I hope you are doing ok, Jay. I love your Bee Gees reactions. This one was really good because I could see your reaction. When the chorus kicked in, your face really showed what you were hearing. You definitely like the ones I do and half the fun of hearing and watching your reactions is that it’s me, the old woman watching you, the young man, confirming that what I like 40 years ago is not because the song was popular, but, because the song is just that good. Thank you.

    Lyrical masterpiece my favorite Bee Gees's song.. The longing is surreal it makes me cry. It is a testament to the power of love and loss. It reminds of my late older brother Roy. Rest in power Roy.😪

    Hi. It's was really underated. Radio station stopped playing Bee Gees songs. They had amazing songs between 1970 and 1974.
    Don't want to live inside myself is a masterpiece. A DJ here in Montreal said to me, the Bee Gees are the most underrated groups in music history.
    Take care. And thank you for keeping the Bee Gees music alive.

    You weren't totally wrong. Barry starts the lead in the verse, then Robin does the lead in the chorus, then Maurice's adds the high harmony. There are three distinct voices in there. Perfection.

      @dawndeleon3765 2 года назад +6

      Yup, spot on. and that's Maurice, barely audible, but there, singing an octave below Robin in unison at the start of the chorus. And then he jumps on the high harmony. Maurice would weave his vocals in and out of wherever they were needed. He was the George Harrison of the group, the hardest harmonies, the peace keeper, the mortar holding the bricks together.

    Great reaction ....as always! This became one of their staples in concerts, and usually as part of the “medley” with all three on one mic, mostly just accompanied by Barry’s guitar. It’s all about the vocals and harmonies!!! Maybe later you can do a double reaction of one of their live performances (where you can see who sings each part - 1989 was a very good year:), and also the Greenfields duet. I would also suggest you watch the vintage “rare color” video with Maurice at a white grand piano and Barry in black and white color blocked lace up (front and back) hip hugger bell bottoms with shirt tied at the waist showing what was referred to as “midriff” at the time. I think they put him behind the piano because the look was too hot even for French television! Will show who’s singing what part.

    • @dp3396
      @dp3396 2 года назад +1

      As kids, Aussie tv would have one mic hovering overhead out of site of the camera, and most live club performances would only have one mic (you know... back in the olden dayz), and probably only one mic in their earliest studio recordings, so I’m guessing it became instinctual for them. Barry had a keen ear, and seemed to like the way it sounded on recordings - had the effect of one voice. An early example would be DON’T SAY GOODBYE, in case you want to react:)

    Have to say thanks again, Jay, for coming in with such songpearls of Bee Gees and yes, 'Run To Me' was a hit but it should have been a Nr. 1 for sure. Especially that song tells lots about the dilemma, bros. Gibb went thru' for nearly their whole career. Looking at the whole scene of modern musictrends since the sixties, they always were on board. But only from 1975 up to 1979, they've been 'allowed', to be 'leaders of the pack'. But in this short, overheated period, medias and critizens nailed them with the word DISCO, just to belittle them. Don't get me wrong, they've had much success because of their millions of fans, worldwide. Whatever, imagine they would have been handled with fairness and getting the recognition they always deserved so well! If one thing is clear, it's that we're talking about nearly sixty years of genius in music. Maybe the greatest group ever (to me for sure)!
