Just searched this after reminiscing with my brother. This is still the best racing video game every made, at least in terms of being pure fun. Gran Turismo, Forza etc are more realistic and cool in their own right for being able to tinker with "real" cars but they became too realistic to the point of being tedious and frustrating. This game was just perfect.
I remember this game. I played the shit out of it on the n64. There are a lot of shortcuts and you collect keys to unlock hidden cars. I remember on the stage 6 i think... with the long road... there was a hidden place inside the mountain. Great game.
The nostalgia. One of the first N64 games I ever played as a kid and I still own the cartridge. The damage on cars was a big deal back then. I played the arcade version only once.
I love the stock sound-effects around 0:12 & 0:10. It sounds almost like the jaw-dropping sound-effect from the 1992 version of 'Aladdin' by Walt Disney.
Dart LOL!!! If you selected the beginner vehicles in the game, it makes a telephone beep sound effect. Also, the beginner sedan looks like a BMW 5-series.
When I first bought my house I was broke as shit. Had a CRT 40 something inch TV hooked up my N64 and kept buying Tony's frozen pizza since it was cheap. Rush, and Tony's pizza became a daily ritual for me. I wouldn't change a thing, I miss it so much I'm eating a Tony's pizza!
As a kid, I loved going through all the hidden areas & my friends would be like "Where in the heck are you going?!...". Good times. The spot you see around 7:07 by the wall on the far-left, for example is one of them...
Not sure if I can see in the corner of my eyes but if you pause the video precisely @ 2:31:43 you'll see a key in the left corner when going in the tunnel.
This game was my teenhood(in the arcade and in this version)...and became my most favorite racing game since Pole Position ll on my Atari 7800 back when I was 7 in 1988.
Back when they had Hollywood Videos, my younger brother will rent the heck out of the San Francisco Rush and Rush 2 N64 games. The replay value is insane. I don't think we can go back to those days where video games were special.
One of the best racing games EVER. Great on arcade, N64 version was awesome too with tons of options and secrets. "The Rock"-version on arcade is the best version of this game. N64 had bad framerate on two player mode but I have still wasted literally thousand hours in this one. Rush 2? The pinnacle of the series. Best physics too. They mostly fixed two player mode also. 2049 wasn't that great but it has its moments. Everybody who has enjoyed the series should check out "Nitronic Rush" too, its free. Good soundtrack, nice levels, tough as hell.
this was the first n64 game I ever played. I remember my sisters and I watching my cousin and everyone laughing when the bus crushed his car against a guard rail and blew to smithereens. it was unreal at the time. everytime we saw it my cousin would yell in a panic, "its the fricken bus!!!" lmao good memories
Este juego me recuerda mucho a mi papá, cuando era chico siempre jugaba con él.... Ahora vuelvo siempre a este video para escuchar los soundtracks y recordarlo😞❤️
I remember me and the local kids that would skip school would get stoned out of our mines and pile up at this girl's house who only had this game 😅 It was the only game she had, but it was cool to have for entertainment purposes lol. It felt like yesterday. That was 1997 😅 I am now 41 years old. Memories
This was the first N64 game I played, personally, along with Diddy Kong Racing. I did play Super Mario 64 demo at a local KB Toys in 1996, but didn't own the game until 1998.
I can SMELL the street fair that you awoke with this game. It's early October, fair rolls in, the smell of fries and food and expensive shit is in the air...Then in the distance one hears "IT'S DANGEROUS!!!"
I used to rent Rush a lot at Movie Gallery when I was 7 years old for the N64. Played the hell out of the game and I won't forget the good times!!😎😎😎😎😎😎
I have played this game a lot back in the 90's, and actually I fired up my n64 a couple of weeks ago with this game and I noticed, the dymanics of the cars in this game, how they bounce and reacts on the road on smaller bumps and jumps is really amazing and even more impressive when you think about that it is so old 😳😁😁😎
I remember renting this and rush 2049. Man it was the best times. I have both for the GameCube arcade version but obviously the originals are better. And I’m actually here Because I went to a friends house a day or two ago and he had this childhood in his n64. As soon as I seen the car in the air I freaked out. Lol. Edited: dude the special track “the rock” as it’s called in the arcade version looks completely different here. On my opinion the arcade version as more detail but of course the N64 port will have a place in my heart! Also there’s one extra shortcut towards the end but it’s a Loopdeloop and the shortcut that makes you skip the big jump is way much harder then how it is here. There’s like two side walls to doge and it’s also a little loopeloop but more closed quarters but you get more of a speed boost if you make it through. This was awesome ❤️
This was my first N64 game, I was blown away with the graphics lol. What a time to be alive.
Same here this was my first game on the n64
Its wierd how looking at the graphics now you see how much technology has improved i was 6 wen this came out
this was my very first gaming experience 😭😭
ITSS DANGEROUSSS!!!
That's what they call your mom
@@ScalyRaptor1944 after I found out we're brothers, thats how I know you know it ;)
This game had the best sound effects and songs. "What's yo name?!"
So this is where Kitty got the voice clip for Mass Defect
AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHH
Thanks for this man. This brought back major memories. Much love.
This game has one of the best songs ever.
"WaaaaaaaaAAAaaaaAAAaaaa
WaaaaaaaaAAAaaaaAAAaaaa
WA WA WA WA WA WA WA WA WA WA
WAAAAAAAA" 🔥🔥 He ain't lyin.
WAaooAaoo!!! i have to agree 🔥
The best 😂 it was my fave lol
Our dog fuckin hated that song
I love the exploration in the game. I wish most racing games had this kind of gimmick and the soundtrack slaps
Love the exploration. Hate the soundtrack.
@bradydavis5791 the soundtrack was very weird and funny when I was younger.
When that guy said "What's your name" I lost it. I haven't heard that in 20 years. So cool.
Same for me just now omg 😂 so many forgotten, but deeply embedded memories lol
This game and Crusin USA were my life for many months.
TechNick bro I swear!! And later on need for speed high stakes!
That and wave race
Ah Midway, home to some of our favorite childhood racing games in existence. They may be gone but they will always live on in our hearts.
Ditto
Did u ever play crusin exotica?
The N64 era was awesome.
The relentless and unforgiving pink hippie van.
Damn hippies
🤣🤣
Brings back so many great memories of all night gaming and turning the TV off real fast once we heard our grandma get up 😆 🤣 😂

i only remember the base cars maybe some unlocks but i got it used with my n64 so idk
Yup I remember the hidden mountain passage as well 😄❤
Game was ahead of it's time
I loved the level design, so many little details and shortcuts all over the place
i used to play this game till 3am every night
AudioXVNVX I used to wake up very early to play this
Heck yeah, me too! Late nights were for finding all of the shortcuts and secret passageways.
@@TheChapMX that's a fact lol
i did 6 years ago, then the cartridge stopped working
@@tacos5682 should be on ebay, don't know how much tho

I always looked for different ways to jump higher and crash
Classic I love it!!!

51:25-51:31 was a rather close call.
How, exactly did you go to first place, that fast?...
this was a good game... good old times.

I love the scream at the end of It's Dangerous!" 😆
You have to admit it looks very good for 1997!

90s. A decade to grow up in
Memories. I used to get motion sickness from playing this game for hours on end.
37:38-37:49 was rather incredible.
What a way to go out...
Come back sometimes for a little listen every couple of years
You’re really good at this. I would not brake as a kid so it’s nice to see how this game should have been played
I remember this game so hard!!!!
Ian Ciborowski same I remember this game and I had the blue car
57:12-57:18 was a rather close call.
I remember playing this game back in the days I luv it still
1:07:07- JUST as time expired on the checkpoint clock.
Classic racing game. Always had fun trying not to crash.
So many memories
I remember having to collect all the keys to unlock additional cars. The Taxi, hot rod and such, good times lol
Thanks dude. This brings back memories. Hope it doesn’t get deleted

I used to think they said "FRESH!" in the beginning.
Lol
I played the hell out of this game at my buddy’s house as a kiddo. Loved every bit of it!
Oh man memories 😂... Every time I go on my cousin's house we always used to play this game.
THIS WAS LIFE
Omg this takes me back! I just found a box of my old game manuals and had to hear this soundtrack again!
"Nothing nasty now"
"F-U-C-K"
"****"
Damn I loved this game as a kid 😢❤
I was 11 when I first played this. Great memories
I was so terrible at the Rush games but dang they are fun. I only ever did the mode where you drive around a rainbow grid place and did flips
The N64 had a bunch of great (for its time) racing games.
Este juego me recuerda mucho a mi papá, cuando era chico siempre jugaba con él....
Ahora vuelvo siempre a este video para escuchar los soundtracks y recordarlo😞❤️
They're waiting for us to play again. just be patient as hard as it is.
this brings me so many memories playing with my cousin. my best racing game.of all time. loved the shortcuts it had.
God this games graphics were amazing at the arcade.

I spent so many hours playing this after school
2:24 Collision with Camaro in midair. Also 2:36 rubbin is racin.
My dad loved this game so much he still play’s it
57:13- Made it to the finish line JUST as the checkpoint clock went ALL the way down to 0.
I used to love this game. Still do. The very first track where you can run wide open was my favorite.
Remember playing this on the 64 when I was very young choosing a car was the loudest thing ever in the morning
Memories....used to play this arcade at a local bowling alley.. lol!!
This was the first N64 game I played, personally, along with Diddy Kong Racing. I did play Super Mario 64 demo at a local KB Toys in 1996, but didn't own the game until 1998.
I used to be hooked on this game i was 6 when this came out 29 now and wanna find all the childhood games
this game was sik remember all the shortcuts on some tracks
I never understood the circuit code. I used to write it down and everything but it did nothing for me.
nostalgia overload here, holy fuck
37:37 lol
I can SMELL the street fair that you awoke with this game.
It's early October, fair rolls in, the smell of fries and food and expensive shit is in the air...Then in the distance one hears "IT'S DANGEROUS!!!"
I LOVE YOU RUSH
I damn near cried watching this.
I used to rent Rush a lot at Movie Gallery when I was 7 years old for the N64. Played the hell out of the game and I won't forget the good times!!😎😎😎😎😎😎
one of my favorite racing games from this time, it was like road rash

I used to love this game, so many memories. Beemer was my car
1:09:13 - You got the key. Lol
This was one HELLof a racing game!! This and Rush USA
I remember there being this one jump that we'd use to hit EVERYTIME! Didn't even race.. Just had to hit that jump over and over!
The rubber banding of this game is stupidly unfair.
02:07:10 Wow what a win in the last instant!
That beginner sedan looks like a late 1980s to early-mid 1990s BMW 5-series.
I remember doing the circuit by having deaths enabled. The checkpoint timer was getting ridiculous on the second half of the races.
Awesome game
“It’s Dangerous”
The first video game I ever played:)
So is there a reason why you didn't show off any of the shortcuts?
+Dr. J's Videogame Nonsense. the shortcut I love on track 6 you go down the road and go up then suddenly you jump really high
That's for us early 2000s and 90s kids to know
It's a long play.
I miss playing this game
1:43:05 Dude, that was awesome
how it's a basic strat used to do it cuz i was trash and wanted to win
This game had a pretty nice physics engine for back then

this game was bomb. Chinatown still kicks my ass.

I always like driving on foggy days. This game let's you enjoy that on demand.
Oh man this brings back memories.
I'm very impressed with how you handle these cars, especially with the weird janky joysticks that the n64 had.
Man, this just screams late 90s, haha
did you unlock the other cars? i used to play for 24 hours until unlock all other vehicles
Nostalgia like a mf!! I feel 6 all over again😩😂…..man I remember me and cousins used to play this game all day
