That sense of freedom when on a bike, any bike, is like nothing else. All bikes are fast, even the 'slow' ones are faster than most other road vehicles. It's not the speed that's addictive, it's that sense of freedom. The noises, the wind, the exposure to everything. Love it.
My one tip. Make yourself as visible as possible but always assume no one has seen you. Pre-empt everyone and everything!
No matter how safe a rider you are, the statistics for not ever having an accident (your fault or not) are against you.
    Ride well. Ride safe.

Quick tip - as soon as you pull away, always (largely) close your visor, especially in summer/autumn as flies and midges are not only very painful as they hit your eyeball but the dramatic loss of vision is extremely dangerous as you try to find somewhere to pull over! 1cm gap is practical but more than 2-3 is frankly taking a risk!

Anything else, car is safer and most less exhausting.
Short trip is where bike is king. So easy to get on and off.

I've always wanted a bike but the need for speed has persisted with me for about 25 years, and didn't trust myself to go through with it. Watching the video and listening to your well informed reasoning for wanting to pass your bike test and ride a bike sets a great example for anyone wanting to do the same. If only I had the same mature reasoning at 28, it's taken me only until recently to share the same view.

Thanks for sharing that Paul. Due to health issues I have not been able to have a license for over ten years. I can honestly say I miss the ability to ride a bike (my last one being a1200 Suzuki Bandit) a lot more than driving a car. Take care. Regards, Bob M. South Wales

Congratulations on the new bike. I have kind of switched my appreciation from 4 to 2 wheels. I was taken with the realization that, it is possible to buy a motorcycle homologated for World Superbike competition with over 200hp in the $20k range. A comparable supercar costs upward to a million dollars or more. And they both have similar technology and engineering. And the bike is much closer to its real racing counterpart than the car ever will be. A Ducati Panigale v4r is a lot closer to a real motogp bike than any production or specialty Ferrari will ever be to a real F1 car. And you can ride it on the street. And, bikes are just a lot more fun than cars.

Congrats Dude, it's all about the freedom and having fun (I've been Racing & Riding for over 35 Years so far) and it never gets boring :). Two wheels and a motor, that's all that matter. You'll find out that motorcyclist don't care (or judge) what you ride..... it's just one big Brotherhood. Have fun.

    Congrats.
Hope you enjoy being a biker.
And if you are gonna buy one when the loan period on this is over, i hope you go for a custom bike and not a factory street racer.
Because it is so much cheaper to build a cool custom bike compared to a car, and so many different things you can do to it.
The nearest road car you can find to a bike in terms of experience i think would be the Morgan 3Wheeler.
At least of the ones i´ve tested.
Anyway, have fun and enjoy the bike.
