    Thank you John I have three XT models and that has helped a lot, the only thing I think you either missed or it maybe in another one of your videos is the Q menus, as there are 7, I think but perhaps an add on if you haven’t, I’ll check, to do a short video on putting different Q menus together, for different photographing tasks, like landscape, portrait, macro, architecture, wildlife.
    I will check if you have done this, but I can’t express how much that has helped and can be built on, clear no nonsense video that gets straight to the title.

      Yes, you can certainly use the Q menu as a different type of menu, but unfortunately, you can only have one Q menu. I believe you're referring to the Custom Settings, for which I have written articles and done videos. This one gives an approach to creating custom settings using Fujifilm X RAW Studio: www.jmpeltier.com/creating-fujifilm-custom-settings-fujifilm-x-raw-converter/

      @@PeltierPhoto I love having my Q menu setup as a 16 slot and add all of the custom film simulation settings and the leftover slots go to face and eye detect, photometry, and lcd brightness. Though I may move these to My Menu and see if there are any more image quality settings that would be useful. I love being able to scroll through the custom settings/film simulations with the rear command dial and be able to instantly see the differences in the various settings. It really helps you see what you like and how to best adjust or create your own through the quick menu.

    This is obviously late, but I have been trying to bang my head into a wall trying to figure out why I couldn't change that square in my xt200. Only to find out I cant...WHY?! I love playing with recipes and presets, why oh why dont I have that? Thanks for clarifying that all other X cameras have it but I dont :(

    John, very helpful video! I have ordered the X-E4 and should have it the first of next week, along with the XF23mm f/2 R WR and the XF18-55mm f/2.8-4 R LM OIS. My main shooter has been the Olympus E-M1 with some sharp primes and the incredible 12-40mm (24-80) f/2.8 Pro lens. While this is a great kit, I know it won’t compete with the Fuji’s on Image Quality, Color Rendition, JPEG’s right out of the camera as well as high ISO low light performance. The X-E4 will be my go everywhere street/travel camera. Just wish it were weatherproofed like the EM1, but other than that, I’m getting everything I want at an $850 bargain.
    I agree with you that the X-E4 does perform a bit differently from some other X series Fuji’s due to trimming and rearranging a few buttons. This really won’t affect me as I’m coming into this from Olympus. I suspect over time I may begin to sell off my beloved Olympus equipment to have more to invest in more Fuji.
    This video really showed how flexible the X-E4 is to customize, if you don’t mind giving up a button or two, the back wheel and a couple of other mechanical changes. But between the highly configurable touch screen, the joystick, Q Menu and custom workspaces, I think this camera can do it all. It looks like a classic rangefinder, but its personality is split between classic dials and controls along with computer touch screen technology.
    Finally, since my X-E4 won’t arrive for a week, I’ve been studying the X-E4 manual that I downloaded from Fuji’s site, Like most manuals, they show you where stuff is, but they don’t really give good applications, examples and uses for many features. They could have, for example, explained a lot more about the Q Menu, as the manual doesn’t really get in to assigning custom workspaces to the Q Menu. It appeared from your video that you can customize the number of Quick Menu options to 4, 8, 12, or 16, much like the X-T4. The manual does not seem to mention this, but I’m excited if the X-E4 can really do this.
    Again, thanks for your contributions. I just found your channel and I’m now subscribed!

    It’s good video. I have question for you. How do you know what’s inside of each option? I mean in AF what is inside whether single or zone or wide or all ? How do you customize those options? Please explain. Thanks.

    • @PeltierPhoto
      @PeltierPhoto  2 года назад

      It's all camera dependent and would take hours to explain all of the menu options and how you know what's set up. Your best bet is to reference the camera manual. If you don't like the camera manuals, I have courses for certain cameras here: photocourses.link/cameras

    Very useful and clearly explained. I cannot seem to be able to get ISO onto the Q Menu on my X100V - I would like to switch between auto1, 2 and 3 without going into the main menu. Can it be added to the Q Menu in X100V or am I missing something? It just doesn't appear on the list of options

    • @PeltierPhoto
      @PeltierPhoto  3 года назад +1

      Hi Nigel, no it's not in the list, and doesn't appear there on cameras with ISO dials.
      So what I've done is I just leave my ISO dial in A, then I have my top Fn (Fn1) button programmed to "ISO Auto Setting". Then when I want to change programs I just hit the top button and I can choose between A1, A2, A3. You can program this function to any of your custom function controls.

      @@PeltierPhoto Many thanks John - just checked on my XT3 and it isn't available there either....for the same reason!! I have programed the top button of the Dpad on the XT3 and I will now asign the ISO to a button on the X100V. Cheers for the heads up and quick response!!

    Hello you missed out on this base, c1 c2 and so box. how to set that up. paldtec explains it but he is too fast talking so I don't fully get it. maybe you can explain. thanks.

    • @PeltierPhoto
      @PeltierPhoto  9 месяцев назад +1

      That’s the “Select custom setting” box and it allows you to change your custom settings. On newer cameras it’s permanently in that first position and can’t be changed to a different box.

    What is the advantage of the jpeg format in q menu compared to RAW?

    • @PeltierPhoto
      @PeltierPhoto  2 года назад +1

      A well-planned & executed JPG capture, if recording one, negates the need for processing a RAW file.

    Nice video, but the most important part you do not touch at the end? The creation of the custom settings, differences between base C1 and C1, etc??

    • @PeltierPhoto

      I wanted to keep this video specific to the _menus_ without going down too many rabbit holes. Diving into the Custom Settings deserves their own videos :)

    The one that gets me every time is when I want to edit the Q menu but I have it already displayed on the LCD. If you long press Q it takes your into editing the Custom Settings not the Q menu. You have to come out of the Q menu and THEN long press Q to edit the Q menu. Grrrrr, come on Fujifilm that is just silly.

    DOES NOT APPLY to X100T (and probably other X100's). Unless I am blind, there is no "MyMenu" or any "User Setting" item in the setup menu on this camera. You should specify which models your instructions apply to so we don't waste our time with this video.
