Fond memories weekend kayaking Maori Gully in 1988 just after a storm and the rapids were more class IV with bits of V rather than III. Bloody cold too. First attempt capsized at least 8 times and totally demoralized, drained, cold and miserable. Second attempt 100% success. It was mind over matter and a lesson in what one can do if you really put your mind to it.
