Waimakariri Gorge Family Rafting
The Waimakariri Gorge is only an hour away from Christchurch yet feels a world away in the wilderness. Famous for the Coast to Coast race, it is a great place to take kids for their first overnight rafting trip as long as there is no forecast wind!

Toaroha - New Zealand White Water Kayaking
Просмотров 1,1 тыс.3 месяца назад
The Lower Toaroha is a classic 3-4 outing on the West Coast depending on river levels. This flow was medium low. A 40min to 1hr walk in depending on your fitness, gives you a good warm up for a short but great river. River guide: www.riverguide.co.nz/guides/kayaking/Lower Toaroha/5d16ba7b7b83b60017c668ba
Landsborough - New Zealand White Water Kayaking
Просмотров 1,4 тыс.Год назад
One of the most pristine valleys on the South Island, whilst not hard white water, the Landsborough is a must on any kayaker's list in NZ for scenery alone. This was quite low flow and it definitely gets harder at higher flows. River Description on Riverguide.co.nz: www.riverguide.co.nz/all/kayaking/Kea Flat to Clarke Bluff/5d16ba7b7b83b60017c668a0

A bit of effort to get to, but this aspect on Mt Enys provided the goods in what is an epic winter.
Mt Earnslaw West Peak
Просмотров 1,1 тыс.2 года назад
Located at the head of Glenorchy, Mt Earnslaw is hard to miss. We tried to climb the often neglected West Peak rather than its slightly highest neighbour, the East Peak. We got stumped 100m from the top with not enough gear to make the last steep section and time running out.
Whataroa - New Zealand White Water Kayaking
Просмотров 11 тыс.2 года назад
The sister river to the Perth, the Whataroa from Barrowman's Flat is an achievable heli trip, with some amazing gorge scenery. This is a low flow run and there is a lot harder section above this.

beautiful
mantap .... 👍
sweet! Love all your videos. Is there any gauge you can use to get an idea of what the level on the Toaroha is? also, do you know what the Lower Hokitika is paddling like these days?
Hey Ethan, there is no gauge but we ran this two days after rain and it medium low. I've not done the Lower Hoki, I believe its all clean at the moment though.
nice
beautiful wander there guys. Climbed this in 1996, stunning views on the top on a clear day.
Cool mission. Can't control the weather. I remember see this film at the NZMFF in Wanaka in 2020. Cool to find it again on RUclips🤙
What month were you there?
Haha, i know that exact spot. It had a nice layer of ice on it 2 weeks ago.
Not being from NZ, I wondered how reasonable of a day trip this is from Christchurch. Thanks for all the vids!
This is all day trips from Chch. It's about 1hr 15 mins from chch to Porters
Nice work - looks a bit intense in sections!
F#@k the music off morons. U might get more views with the white water and your ? Sounds.
Did you feel it was necessary to rope on the glacier?
No not at all, it was late summer and you can see all the slots.
This is so brilliant, so frothed to get up there!
Could you share what rivers these were? Thank you!
Can I come along?
Simply awesome!
Great vid. Thanks very much
Nice
what were the entrance and exit points?
Did you come down the same way ?
Hey, no we came down the Otira slide, which had no snow on at the time.
@@keaoraproductions6713 thank you
Talk about clear water! It looks wonderful. I’m envious.
looks awesome. single day trip?
Yes, maybe 5 hrs if you take your time
Awesome! Do your remember what the flow was at for the trip? Cheers!
It was pretty much summer background level so pretty low.
Paradise on earth
What's the song? Good effort, not surprised you turned around!
Thanks man. It's called Swamp Shack by Falconer.
Good effort. Great vid Cheers!
Thanks 👍
Your return. Have walked about a bit in there and it is glorious and satisfaction.. kiaora, wayback matt
Big country where wx, patience and hunger management relevant. G8 effort a d good luck on y
Is there a better country for boating than NZ? It'd be hard to imagine
Great Video!, just wondering what you rapped off of High peak using? (Piton, Tat around a rock etc, nut?) Also did you need to rope up crossing the crow?. More beta for the descent would be appreciated. Thanks.
Hey there was tat up there, but I always take fresh 6mm chord for that purpose. We didn't go onto the Crow as we didn't take ice gear so we climbed up middle peak then down to low peak which avoids it. Middle peak is very chossy though. If you did cross the crow, I don't see the need to rope up as your just traversing a small uncrevassed bit, however always prudent if you already have the rope on you.
That looks like so much fun!
NZ nature is truly stunning!
Fantastic! Good to blow the cobwebs out and then some. Couldn't have a picked a better day, crew or river. Until the next time brother!
nice
Cool video of a cool climb. Looked like nice conditions. Thanks for sharing.
thought I found some olivine- butte it was epidite,.,mostly olivine dream- I suppose- really enjoyed the adventure!!
nice.
nice
Hi there, I've been enjoying your videos, thank you. I know heli-skiing is popular on the Tasman, but...don't you get nervous about slots? Cheers.
Hey man, thanks very much. Yeah its always in the back of your mind but its pretty well covered up in the middle of winter so not of huge concern. They tend to form in obvious places on a glacier, roll overs, outside of bends etc, and although not fool proof can help reduce the risk a lot.
@@keaoraproductions6713 yeah I see. I've walked up to the white ice before from Ball Shelter, but that was before the big slips happened. Anyway, nice work!
Nice one, what flow wad this?
This was pretty low, basically background winter flow.
Any idea of the flow?
Sorry far too long ago for me to remember. I would say sorta medium as I've done it higher and it didn't feel in flood.
Nice vid!! Beautiful scenery, and brings back memories of waiting for the rivers to drop.
nice low flow - sweet run
Did you rope up at all on the face? Nice Work!
Hey, we didn't but we had it in case, and it was very useful for getting off high peak down to the ice and middle peak, quite a scary down climb otherwise on some very loose rock.
@@keaoraproductions6713 Good Effort. I just did Rome Ridge direct solo and needed to rap into the gap! So steep and loose! Would love to have a crack at the face
how much of the terrain did you do protected?
We didn't end up protecting any of it, however we had a basic alpine rack and a 60m rope just in case.
Nice.
Congrats on the summit and the cool video! Did you guys do the full NW ridge or was there enough snow to cut up to the base of the buttress? (Kangaroo patch?) Also when in Jan did you manage to summit?
Yes we did cut up via the snow, but we hit the notch before the kangaroo patch as the patch itself had some huge scrunds that looked difficult to get over. This was the 9th ans 10th of Jan.
I'm thinking back to the early 90s. The hut was small and leaked in a storm. But hell the glacier was in better condition.
I can imagine, I was surprised by how much we had to descend from Bevan Col to get to it. Lots of surface melt on it too, kept on going up to your knees in deep pools.
We were up there 27/28th January 2021 and it had fresh snow a week before and only a couple of patches of surface melt. I'm surprised at how little snow compared to what we had half a month later. The Ramp was covered and you could descend Bevan Col basically all via snow slope to the east
Amazing video resolution crystal clear
Thanks, mixture of good light and a gopro 9 which is phenomenal.
Nice 😄🤟
