Everyone seems to be talking about France taking a drop goal as admitting defeat. As an Irishman who has spent almost half his life in France, that is absolutely NOT what I was thinking when they got the drop goal. I was thinking France wanted to keep within a converted try of winning, and trust themselves to get that try under the posts at the end to win. I have seen it happen from France and French clubs countless times. I love the win, and performance in that game, it was a joy to watch, but lets not do France a disservice by suggesting they capitulated early. And also, lets not do a disservice to Irelands game in the last 20 or so minutes by suggesting France conceded defeat already.
I've been waiting for this one all week and it was definitely worth the wait. Such expert explanations in insights and I always love how optimistic you are for all teams you analyse. I really want France to win the WC, but Ireland did an amazing Job!
What a game! I thought keenan and Doris were exceptional, JVDF was his usual world class self, both sets of 9+10 excellent and a big mention to ringrose for producing one of the great performances; I still think he is criminally underrated and is slowly building himself as the best centre in the world! France were still great, but just looked out on their feet after 50 minutes. There substitutes weren’t as good as Irelands
Always keep in mind that either Ireland, Scotland or South Africa will only become third in the Group Stage of the upcoming World Cup. What a scary group!
Brilliant brilliant analysis of a classic match and how good ireland and france showed up. One question. Why no comment on man mountain hit on herring.
I think one of my favourite little moments is Ringrose fending Jalibert into Taofifenua and Fickou like a pinball. He just took out three Frenchmen with a single arm
A well deserved victory for Ireland. As a frenchman, I just saw a blue team making bad decisions and a green one taking advantage of it everytime with great awareness. Nice match and congratz to Ireland! See you in the RWC, I hope so!!
What’s not covered here is how impotent France’s attack was for this whole game, shut down completely by Irelands defence. Apart from Penaud’s brilliantly freak try, they never looked like threatening the Irish line from structured play. Some analysis of Ireland’s defence would have been good to add.
Brilliant and thoughtful analysis. Thank you for this. I think the world cup will be won by one of four teams, France, New Zealand, South Africa or Ireland. If heartbreak is a motivation, we Irish have had it in world cups always playing below our best. There's a different feeling about this Irish team. I live and hope, but along with France, we've upset South Africa and New Zealand recently. They will bounce back with a fury. Ireland need to be much better come the autumn
Superb analysis. I found your identifying that new French offensive tactic particularly interesting and, your subsequent description of the various components involved. It was noticeable around the 70th minute that some of the French Forwards had 'hit a wall' in terms of their conditioning. Aldritt was replaced early in the 2nd half. The same thing happened in the next game against Scotland (after a 2 week break). Question is, how far can Galthie push these players who also have to contend with playing regular Top14 games? Once the regular season ends, how long of a break do France (& Ireland) give their World Cup Squad players? Which beggars another question - Does this set of circumstances benefit Northern Hemisphere teams in the upcoming World Cup?
Will be interesting to see if Scotland can do something similar defensively, and how France can adjust. I'm not sure how easy it would be t repeat, given France should be able to find ways to take advantage of the dsiconnects
nah not a hope Defensively they won't be as good as France now attacking they might do better but straight defense nah Ireland will beat Scotland because Ireland are better on both fronts then Scotland

Oh you’ve made my night!!! Kids to bed soon and then the analysis over a glass of wine!
Sexton playing on form for what could be his last competition playing in a Green Jersey & no more variant Sexton names in Squidge's analysis :(
Sexton is only halfway through his career
What a game! I thought keenan and Doris were exceptional, JVDF was his usual world class self, both sets of 9+10 excellent and a big mention to ringrose for producing one of the great performances; I still think he is criminally underrated and is slowly building himself as the best centre in the world!
France were still great, but just looked out on their feet after 50 minutes. There substitutes weren’t as good as Irelands
Am I the only one who wants the 6 hour version? Great work!!
If you don't want to talk about the referees, there's nothing really to add
The analysis had as much depth as the game. Top shelf.
This is one of the most important games of the year. A lot of teams will be looking back to this game toward the World Cup! Interesting!
been waiting for this video since the game made my day0 squidge
Here for the next variation of Sexton's name
So many choice lines in this video but "prison-worthy" really got me :)
Cheers lad! 🇮🇪🤝🇫🇷
Epic Squidge great work
Wonderful analysis Squidge! Thank you! You’re the best, most interesting rugby analyst, second only to Brent Pope!
Aha has, just watching this now. Your Andy Farrell impression had me chuckling. Well done sir
Yet again an incredibly detailed and unreal video by the legend himself
You really put serious work into these. Amazing effort.
Best 30 minutes of my day today. Thanks.
Looks like Gary R has put the time in at the gym and track. His try down the line and breaking tackles. Maturing well.
I am quite surprise that the try of Lowe was Ok for the referee. The pass received by Lowe is forward. Look at 26.11
So good, thank you!
This was so good I forgot I was cooking breakfast and burned everything
What’s not covered here is how impotent France’s attack was for this whole game, shut down completely by Irelands defence. Apart from Penaud’s brilliantly freak try, they never looked like threatening the Irish line from structured play. Some analysis of Ireland’s defence would have been good to add.
Excellent video👌👌
Comment for the algorithm. Keep up the good work
Brilliant and thoughtful analysis.
Great analysis Squidgey! Spot on!
I am not lying when I say I have been waiting for this all week
Unreal video, thanks for all the hard work y’all put into this 👏🏻
Absolute cracka of a game... even better breakdown by squidge... big bill shaping to be a glorious 6 weeks of blood and guts
29:39 "Bonjour je m'appelle Jonathan Danty et j'habite [with this spelling] a La Rochelle" - from a Frenchman who loves your video ;-)
Superb Sir!
Well done hard work thanks
Superb analysis. I found your identifying that new French offensive tactic particularly interesting and, your subsequent description of the various components involved.
It was noticeable around the 70th minute that some of the French Forwards had 'hit a wall' in terms of their conditioning. Aldritt was replaced early in the 2nd half. The same thing happened in the next game against Scotland (after a 2 week break). Question is, how far can Galthie push these players who also have to contend with playing regular Top14 games? Once the regular season ends, how long of a break do France (& Ireland) give their World Cup Squad players? Which beggars another question - Does this set of circumstances benefit Northern Hemisphere teams in the upcoming World Cup?
great video!!!
thank you
Sensational work
This kind of behavior in and around rucks needs to officicated more stringently.
Great match and analysis ... looking forward to Scots at Les Bleus !
Will be interesting to see if Scotland can do something similar defensively, and how France can adjust. I'm not sure how easy it would be t repeat, given France should be able to find ways to take advantage of the dsiconnects
nah not a hope Defensively they won't be as good as France now attacking they might do better but straight defense nah
Ireland will beat Scotland because Ireland are better on both fronts then Scotland
Thank you. Brilliant
