Well, our MB counter is white quartz and stained with my make up, iodine soap (which disappears with peroxide), rust from some little farmstyle baskets, and some hair dye (which was also gone with peroxide) the toughest one to remove is rust, but we probably might need to refinish and reseal it. It definitely stains just with different stuff. We made the mistake of using clorox cleaner and it yellowed a bit, but peroxide and baking soda helps a lot. Thanks for sharing.

We did have one difficult stain that didn’t want to come out. A cup of tea was left on the counter for 3 days and it left a ring. Tip: do not use anything abrasive to clean as it might ruin the finish. After several passes with soap and water, the stain is gone. I also used a blue scrubby pad (not the green kind because I believe it would be too abrasive). Otherwise after years, our countertops still look great. Good luck with your install.

THINK TWICE BEFORE CHOOSING QUARTZ. My personal experience... it is NOT MORE RESILIANT, IT IS UNFORGIVING AND IT IS MORE WORK. Last year we opted to get a high quality quartz counter because every counter company seemed in agreement that quartz was more resilient than Granite and less maintenance. It wasn't long that we noticed clouding on the counter in certain angles despite only using only a gentle dish soap to clean it (per company recommendations). Also it began showing shade differences under certain pieces on my counter... a glass plate near the oven... and toaster oven (btw it was not caused by heat... because we move it from that spot when we use it). The shading difference remained despite removing all items from the counter every week to do a full clean up. Our company recommended bar keepers friend... it did not help... may have worsened (caused clouding). I then accidentally ruined my counter while cleaning my humidifier... (a solution of 1 litre of water w 1 tsp bleach) which dripped on the counter ... When I noticed the liquid on my counter... I tried to remove it with dish soap... then barkeepers friend... it was stained. Our company was surprised thought the water had perhaps dried on... or was there for hours... and said that at that level of dilution even for 15 min it should not have stained because the counter is non porous. Many quartz companies suggest that a diluted bleach can help with some stains (then looking at some posts from people who have tried it... they mentioned yellowing and clouding). Many quartz companies suggest different solutions for stains but then say that it may cause clouding... I'm here to tell you ... it probably will cause clouding... this is not a solution! I have since done research on quartz counters... many complaints of permanent clouding... many stains that cannot be removed... I've seen posts saying that the only real way to clean the counter is daily cleaning with only hot water because dish soap and yes even the recommended bar keepers friend can leave a residue on certain quartz. We bought a high end Quartz product because we were told that this was the best way to ensure a resilient higher quality.. So my conclusion...Quartz is less resilient and more work ... it may not need to be resealed like granite ... but I'm sure I am working much harder than granite customers on the daily maintenance. Even before the stain... it began having cloudy areas... despite only using the recommended dish soap for daily maintenance. Finally it is unforgiving... I have not had granite and realize it may come with its own limitations... but at least a granite counter can be re finished. If you are thinking quartz... look for customers who've had quartz to know the real story. Currently I wash my counter with dove diluted with water and re rinse completely till all smell of dove perfume is gone... I did use a non scented natural dish soap at one point... but it was harder to tell if I was rinsing enough and creating a residue. Hope this helps.
I totally agree with all of the above..I personally have had the exact same issues with a brand new quartz countertop.. just installed .. cloudy and stains and scratches very easily ...It seems to be a stressful experience using it on a daily basis and fearing that it will be damaged at the slightest use.I had granite counters before and I can say that they are definitely more hard-wearing and low maintenance and once sealed ,they endure the toughest of use ,even a hot pot did not cause any damage whatsoever on my granite counter.. I think quartz ,especially the white ones are not meant for heavy use and require very careful use .Even a basic dishwashing liquid can leave watermarks and spots and it is very very easily damaged if by chance a strong detergent falls on it .. This is my personal experience ..I hope it helps...
Awesome result! This is exactly the kind of Quartz I am having installed next week. I wished my cabinets were dark though so I will have white on white, and now I have to figure out what type of backsplash and floor to change so my room is not too bright and white! :)
The problem with quartz is that it is crushed powdered quartz made into a solid using epoxy resin polymeric and recycled products. It yellows and stains overtime. It doesnt have much issues with products sticking to it or staining it, BUT if you dont want the shiny stuff and get honed, it will stain, as the epoxy is not as much on top layer protecting the surface. What is bad is that if you put hot items on it the epoxy will yellow. If you have windows with direct light(UV rays), it will yellow over time. It also can chip on the edges. Most granite have less issues. Some sellers title a stone granite, yet they are not, and many have mixed types of stone in the granite. Granite is MUCH more resistant to heat as well. I have had granite, and hardly ever used a hot plate, and have had zero issues on a medium light to gray tne granite. It will not yellow, while epoxy in quartz will surely yellow. What is more interesting is that Ceasarstone and many other makers, or even cleaning products have videos up with the comment section turned OFF, so they dont get customers posting all the negative experiences they have had. The sad part is that many quartz companies charge MORE than the natural stone price for a product that is literally made by byproducts! Lots of MAJOR marketing has gone into launching quartz as the "best product for a kitchen, and this is simply false. If you are doing a remodel and KEEPING the house, vs selling it soon after, a natural stone will add value and give a longer lasting product. Keep in mind that you can always polish or resurface natural stones, AND seal them if you want to add some security of stain or wear resisntance. You can also use an impregnating sealer for those radon gas worriers. Something to think about. I have researched this topic pretty deeply, and read many of the feedback from quartz owners of LONG TERM use and experience...I have now decided NOT to use quartz in my house.
So you're saying a polished countertop will yellow and stain, and a honed one will stain (and from the sound of it, not yellow so much due to there being less epoxy). Therefore it would be better to get the honed countertop, if you really wanted quartz.

Honed is actually less supported by the warranty as companies like Ceasars will not warranty the honed, while they warranty the polished. To get a dull and matte look, they have to make the surface to some degree porous to absord or reflect light in different directions. IF the stone you pick is more on the white and brighter colors, over time it WILL tint to a bit of yellow in particular areas exposed to sunlight.
I hate granite cause it stains so easily with oils 🙄 yeah sure, quartz can’t really take hot pots but I don’t do that to my granite anyways. Can’t wait to get quartz!
The problem I most hear about is the binder resin (glue) yellows over time when exposed to sunlight....check that out but use a top quality quartz like CAMBRIA thanks
try it on the best quality quartz CAMBRIA .... not inferior clones please... set it out in the sunlight for months and see if it yellows from ultaviolet sunlight ...Quartz is about 9 % resin and resin does yelow..like most glues do...

Swathi just use warm water n dishwashing liquid to clean quartz. I use kitchen cleaning spray. But if you have any stain like turmeric jus take a drop or 2 of hand sanitiser in a cloth n rub over the stain and wipe it off with clean wet cloth after. Sanitiser has alcohol which will remove your stain. Also make sure to turn off hob while doing this as alcohol should not be used near fire. Hope it helps
No, because hard water spots and mineral deposits can not be cleaned by pH-neutral formulas. Take care that non-neutral formulas will permanently damage the resins in the quartz countertop though, called "etching" The best methods for removing them from quartz is to use grade #0000 super-fine steel wool, or CAREFULLY a razor, although that may seem frightening. If you have granite, you can use other methods that are a little less frightening. Don’t forget to try water rings left from cups etc… I did all of this too, but was surprised at how difficult water stains can be on quartz.

Don’t get fingernail polish or acetone on this. And I suggest not using anything abrasive to scour away any stains. It will damage the quartz.

"Goof Off" will clean anything on a quartz countertop. It has a strong smell right after use. But, it always does the trick.

Try rust you will be very surprised. Leave a wet metal (steel) not stainless
on overnight. It will stain if there's rust on the counter!

Try Acrylic paint with mineral water, you know the sparkling, effervescent stuff, and .... It will stain... Fast.!

I have this quartz countertop. Permanent markers (like the one the sink installer used) will stain.
Lily Warren no they won’t. Go over it with a dry erase marker and wait 5 seconds it comes right off. Quartz is completely nonporous
