I used a cleaner for glass top stoves and it worked great. But I also used soap and water and granite cleaner on a sample piece of quartz along with the glass top cleaner. it worked great. But I love the rubbing alcohol idea.
Alcohol will take away the gloss. Be careful

Oh my goodness! Thanks to you all who said Bug Spray. I read it somewhere else while freaking out that I had five black black filled in circles that came through as I stupidity marked fabric. I thought bug spray sounded crazy but you all here saying it made me try it. After several applications and letting it sit and rubbed off, I can’t see but the faintest trace but I have to strain my eyes. I used Cutter Backwoods (only 25% DEET). Thanks to those that commented their success!
use acetone
Just tried it too. Red sharpie on granite. Bug spray worked 100% like the marker was watercolor. Used cutter backwoods.
For anyone looking at this now use BUG SPRAY.. My 6 year old accidentally got black sharpie on my brand new white quartz countertops. There was a 4 inch line as well as 3 dots of marker. The rubbing alcohol (91%) got about 90% of it off. Then I used bug spray (98% deet) and it totally came out. FYI Bug spray is what teachers use to remove OLD permanent marker from labels and things in the classroom.
Didn’t work. Any specific type?

@@MBATheGreat repel insect repellemt sportsman max 40% deet, green can! I just tried so much and this took it off within 30 seconds, first try like an infomercial it was amazing
My 2 year old got a milwaukee inkz all marker so it was a really good permanant marker too

I literally just made a sharpie marker stain on my quartz counter top and searching for a video to remove.
So what I did was
first, I sprayed the weiman quartz and stone cleaner and wiped off with paper towel. Then sprayed again and use a sharpe edge to lightly scrape. (Razor) Then scrubbed with paper towel (as I sprayed)
Then added soap with another scrub. Lastly green alcohol. (Some of these steps I repeated several times)
I was still not satisfied as it went from black to 10-20% light grey.
I then looked under the cabinet and saw Clorox.
I added all the above (counter spray, soap, alcohol) with Clorox directly on the spots, let it sit for a little while. Lo and behold, it’s completely gone!
Rubbing Alcohol or hand sanitizer with a high alcohol content will instantly remove sharpie from just about anything.
What kind of alcohol?

Omg tysm I was drawing with a sharpie and didn't think about how it leaks and I was having a panic attack and I thought I was gonna die but thanks to you I got the stain off using bugs pray
Use a magic eraser and pour clear acetone on the magic eraser this is what I use at work when I need to get stains off of quartz it works 90% of the time but clear acetone in the magic eraser together
Mark...but I was told no acid liquids should be used on quartz countertops. And I was told no abrasive items...will magic eraser scratch the quartz or ruin the shiny finish?
I have a 5 year old and live in the real world.
So we went with granite in our new home.

Lemon juice and bicarb just removed black permanent pen from silestone for me. Just needed some scrubbing.
Fingernail polish remover. Came right off.
way to much work just use a dry erase marker

Thankyou so much! My 6 yr old drew his initials on our white benchtop with a permanent marker and it had been there for a while. I used bug spray and scrubbed it with the backside of a dishwashing sponge and after a few tries the stain has almost faded!!!!👍👍👍
Oh my gosh I just googled how to get sharpie off granite while I was meal prepping and the bug spray worked instantly 🙌🏻

We just had new quartz installed late in 2019. In Jan. 2020 we accidentally got black sharpie indirectly stained into the counter (just a small part). I'll try the alcohol method you discovered in this video.
