I used to think that if I wasn't wearing my Apple watch or tracking my workout/calories burnt, then there was no point in working out - it was an all-or-nothing mentality and led to more inconsistency in my training😅

My biggest mistake is to continue training hard in 90 F temperatures. When I stop to catch my breath and my heart rate goes down I can start feeling "light headed". I need to better evaluate my body's response to hot training conditions which is not easy since I am training for a MTB race in October of 2025. BTW: I'm 74 years old and a bit overweight but that will be fixed in a few months.... Hopefully if I replace body fat with lean muscle mass I'll be a bit more heat tolerant.

@@williambanzhof9739 self awareness is something I’m going to be discussing in my next video, but well done for being aware of your body response to heat. And amazing goals coming up! How has the training been going?

@@eliessamahaa In a couple of words "very good" 1) Apple watch shows increasing VO2 max. 2) Every few weeks I am able to increase my riding distance and elevation gains. 3) The only training mistake was I went a little too heavy in the Gym and my right shoulder joint hurts a bit when I do chest flys. But time will fix that issue. 4) I still need to "dial in" my calorie intake to match my training load. I eat way too much after a workout to try to get back some energy so I could do some work around the house rather than just sitting working on my computer. 5) I am taking electrolytes at the beginning of the workout. They seem to help. THANKS FOR PRESENTING!

@@williambanzhof9739 my absolute pleasure. Seems like you’ve got training dialed in. I’d love to help with the calorie intake side of things. With most of my clients, I tell them to “eat until you’re 8/10 full” but I would love to chat more, if you’d like. Feel free to email me! It’s elie.samaha77@gmail.com. Blessings!
