As a Scot I am so sorry you didn't have the best experience of us . Edinburgh is not exactly typical of the rest of Scotland . Wish you had made it to Glasgow . Once voted most friendly city and in another poll city where you are most likely to be stabbed 😂 But as Rab C Nesbit said ' it's a friendly stabbing , we mean no malice ' ( and that's Glasgow humour )

    • @zeroxox777
      @zeroxox777 10 месяцев назад

Glasgow - most friendly city in the UK if you're not a southern toff or a Tory. This is why we love the Scots. That and the accent obviously. And I don't say Scottish people resemble their national dish. One of my favourite things in the world was seeing that BBC news blooper introducing Nicola Sturgeon, but they showed the wrong picture of a gorrilla under a tree putting something into its mouth.

When I was in the RN I was based in Faslane for 5 years.
Groups of us serving at the base, including some Glaswegian lads serving with us, would catch the train to Glasgow on Friday night for a night on the town.
Glasgow had a fearsome reputation back then in the mid 60s to early 70s and yet we never had any trouble. In fact the locals were very friendly people and were also really funny.
Just about every Glaswegian I served alongside was a born comedian and when it came to biting but amusing irony and sarcasm they beat the rest of us hands down

    • @russelljohnson2148

Of course it matters! I’d appreciate you using mam for e.g. cos, although local lingo from up north, it’s still British. Remember and maintain your own nationality, is what I’m saying.
Don’t worry if some Americans don’t get it. That would be their problem. Too thick to not get “mum” is our spelling of the word. I’d seriously pity their intelligence. No, I’m annoyed how many brits are becoming Americanised now. Ending statements in question marks, starting everything they say with “so…”
It’s like they’re forgetting their own nationality. USA too big an influence on the world I reckon.
I’ve even seen some brits spelling words like flavour, colour without the U, like American English. I think ‘why do it?!’ Anyway, I could go on but I think that’s enough for here. Got a bit off my chest now actually, thanks to this. So thank you, and be best wishes too☺️

There’s an app for your phone called RadioGarden that lets you listen to radio stations all over the world. My friend in Washington state actually told me about it a few years ago and I definitely enjoy it. So if you are ever someplace where you can’t easily access this station here the US, if you have that app you’ll be able to access it from your phone. It’s really easy to use. You can either use the globe and move it to the city you want to get a list of stations from or you can just type in the name of the station in the search bar. Once you find the station, just hit the play button and you are listening to the station.
You did a great job being interviewed! You’re quite good at being in media! Very charming, charismatic, and personable! Everyone looks like they were having fun! Several years ago when I was volunteering with a nonprofit community organization I had to do some media interviews with newspapers, radio stations, and public access television and I definitely don’t think I was as calm as you appeared to be. I definitely felt waaaaaayyyy outside my element. Although that could also be because the other people who were supposed to be with me weren’t able to make it so I was unprepared to do it all on my own. I give you kudos for doing such a fantastic job!

Honestly Joel, I subscribed to your channel a few months ago (the 55 year old fart from London) and all I can say is I hope you realise what a lovely, lovely family you have. I find what they did not remotely embarrassing; it’s actually charming and they clearly care. I’m also so impressed with your relationship with your brother. Glad you’re enjoying Britain!

Was really sorry you had a bad experience or two in Scotland. I can promise you that I've never EVER heard of a perception that Scottish people don't like Americans like that guy told you, you just happened upon a guy having a bad night there! Hopefully you can come back and we can set the record straight! Really enjoyed your vlogs so far.

My sister moved up to Lanark from Kent a few years ago and has said that some of the worst people she has ever met are the Scots but conversely also some of the nicest...I believe that a lot of Scots don't like Americans because of Trump, he bought up a lot of land for his golf course and made his usual false promises to the local people about helping the economy and was very underhand towards those who didn't want to move from the area...so I think the Scots feelings are more political than personal..beautiful country scenic side though..😊

Joel, I’ve been watching you pretty much from the beginning. I love your reactions, the way you embrace our food, culture, music etc. I’m so happy that you came to the UK and saw a glimpse of our beautiful country.
You really are a natural for radio although with your lovely smile maybe tv would be better 🤔
Obviously yours and Will’s easy nature has lead you to people willing to show you around and take you under their wing a little. We would’ve too if we’d known you were going to stay in Morton in Marsh as we live quite nearby. My husband was a bus driver so he knows the Cotswolds well and was always advising tourists where to go. Maybe next time?
Looking forward to your last vlog. Have loved your mini series. Much love❣️
