Hi, I'm John, and I've been passionate about #history since I could remember. I majored in history and historical research and trained for a year under an actual historian. Ultimately, I am a History Buff like many of us. Let's #react and discuss things we know and so much we don't know about history!

It's not like us Brits look down on Americans, but more their government.

@lawrenceglaister4364 After Brexit, things got tight for the UK. US standards are low.

It's like the boy in the schoolyard. He had to repeat two classes, so he is the strongest, but not the smartest. He always brags that he's the best and beats up the little ones, making himself feel bigger. Nobody can stand him.🤷‍♂️

I think it’s also important to remember how Brits show affection. We can’t do sincerity so if we take the piss, it means we really like you.

All the people asked in this video are from london, if you asked the same question in a lot of other cities in the UK, you would get a different answer. Just like if you asked some people in the US, in some states you would get negative comments, but in other states you would get more positive comments.
I live in the north of England, and my best friend of over 30 years is from Florida, and he has been very welcomed. When he meets new people he generally get a very positive reaction.

A very good video and a pretty accurate picture . We do still have far more in common with Commonwealth countries and the US. than we do with most of Europe .

So I live across from the largest airbase in northern Europe, and I frequently run into American servicemen and women, and sometimes also on a personal level.
Fundamentally we function quite well and understand each other and agree with a wide variety of foreign politics, and as a Dane we usually sync on a lot of issues related to our future and goals for our individual development.
But when it comes to my view of the congress and the people who occupy their respective place in the government, my attention and attitude changes significantly.
I don't understand how it is possible for some in the government, especially to the right wing to be such an opportunistic and directly malicious human being that it oozes of lobbying and greedy behavior from this particular specimen.

I always like the exchange in "In Bruges" when Colin Farrell says "Are you American ?", "Yes but don't hold it against me", "Well, that's for me to decide"

I think it's to do with how they are living in a cult about how great American are, but it has it's flaws

Forget about America the real issue is the action that is between Scotland , Northern Island , Wales and England , they take the mick and usually dislike each other but put them together and a good night will be had by all .
If you wish to know how and why we get on just look at the 5 Eyes in the intelligence and military communities !!

The things I don't line are when a person has to ration their medication, so they end up in hospital. Like a person having to choose between staying for overtime or going to the dr and if they go to the dr, they lose the job. It's mental that medial emergency isn't important

I used to work in big city centre hotels where we did a lot of American tour groups, usually about 300 people a week, my main experience was that the vast majority of these Americans thought they were coming to a country that was really just America with history and castles, it completely threw them that in fact the UK is a foreign county with it's own unique language, customs and heritage, I think that is the fundamental mistake most Americans make coming here and rather than us being separated by small differences we are in fact very different people, one of the things that Americans should do is stop calling their language English because it isn't, it has diverged and evolved away from English too far.

Americans give me the impression that they think if something is bigger, it's better. Which would you rather have, a big tumour or a small one.

Hey John. I dispute this video. I've worked with US guys for decades and no hate has been found. Now gentle joking sometimes maybe.
Although a US work associate did say to me recently she thought it was great that many Brits went to the US for the best healthcare as the NHS was no good!

I think it's a fundamental difference in politeness that causes most of the animosity over, let's face it, really minor things. The US appears to be very individualistic, very much a flaunt your own success kind of culture. Everything someone does can be converted into a linkedin post somehow, everything must be celebrated or you're putting someone down. Britain is very much the opposite culturally. Fit in, minimal effort, anything you do to stand out is just embarrassing your peers and achieving nothing. Unless it pays off at least, very much a shit or get off the pot culture. We look at each other and find the other... well in the UK, we probably see the US culture as puerile. The US look at us and probably see us as stunted?

The English do learn languages jmapelle Matt, ou e le parking, jevoudrais un hot dog, then after that you realise hold on how much of the developed world speaks french or German, yep wont be needing that in life lol. Where as half of Europe needs to learn English to do well in international business. That's why it's compulsory for them to study English all through school.

We may not agree with each other all the time, but we’re attached at the hip like brothers. We’ll never fail to help each other in time of need. The US is the Dennis the menace to Britain’s Mr. Wilson.

Here is a question for you to ponder what has America ever done that benefits this planet when you take a deep deep dive you will realise very little now on the other hand what has the UK done that benefits this planet again when you take a deep deep dive you realise a lot more than you thought

reacting to adverse opinions when they are solicited is, it seems to me, typically american and childish. Just listen and learn...

Americans have weird traditions as well. Flag burning, for example.
