That AK QT hand happened to me at MGM Springfield. I busted after 6 hours of solid play to a three outer and I almost swore off poker for good.
Bravo for sticking it out for a whole $1$2 series! Many vlogs start one but they typically fade because $1$2 can play so out of book sometimes. The quad 3s is a perfect example. Who calls a check raise with only 2 overs neither of which is an ace!? Some really baffling showdown in this finale.

Really like the analysis of villian's decisions on the AKs vs QTs hand. We're rangeing villain on every street so it's good to go back and see if we can tell where his head is. Even better if you discuss any change in future play from this analysis. Here I don't think we change as his strat seems a loosing one.

I live in Austin TX and went to my first poker room ever in my entire life last night. I was so nervous. It was $1/$2 no limit with $300 buy in. I walked out with $997 after tipping the dealers nicely so made $697 my very time playing. I was up almost $1100 at one point and was ready to quit but had a bad beat. Even so, walking out with close to $700 made me realize I may be good enough to do this for a living. I am going back tonight to see if it was just beginners luck or sound playing. If I win again then I know I am strong enough to play with the locals. Thanks for your videos because I study as much as possible to give me every possible advantage. I played with money I could afford to lose and planned on losing my very first time so winning big blew my mind. I am disabled and need a part time job to supplement my SS Disability check. If I can just make $100 a day that is a whopping $3,000 a month. Thanks again for videos. So very helpful🙏

Love this video, learned so much in a short amount of time. Do have a question about the hand played around 30:00. You decided to check the river in anticipation of villain bluffing but given what you did in the previous street it doesn't make sense to me. You check raised the turn trying to look bluffy wouldn't you then need to lead out on the river to keep telling that story?
One thing I dont do often bet alot pre flop even if I get pocket aces in not trying to go all-in unless I'm forced to. The further a hand comes along the more I'll bet or just check or fold. Of course I'll check a monster hand alot of times and try to trap an opponent. Im just not big into betting alot when the outcome of the hand is still a coin toss. I do like how you included hands where you lost. That's the thing about poker you only have control in how you use your chip stack. The guy that won with QT made the right plays. Every hand has a predetermined winner and wr can either call or fold along the way. You can play poker 100 different ways with different styles it all comes down to making the right plays and being lucky.
The AKdd vs QTdd is hilarious! I think I might have sized down otf to set up more fold equity ott.
I can see arguments either way (bigger flop bet to capitalize on the hands that will fade away on the turn quite often, or small flop bet to capitalize on the larger turn FE). Given the actual results, it seems the prior would likely be best =)
I think you coulda gone for the "reverse spaz induce" on the quads hand where you bet like 5 BBs on the river to make it look like you're trying to buy showdown

The one time he doesn't complain about the runout is when he starts with AK and gets QJT on the board.

On your KTo hand, on the river you called with the nuts, which in some places is forbidden, you should raise every time with the nuts. Is there any reason you didn’t? Maybe something related to the rake? Thank you
Brain fart + 100% certain we were chopping. The rake was maxed, so zero reason for me to just call unless I was tired and could have possibly misread the board =)

Could you make a video on button straddling - when or when not to do it? I’ve always heard that it’s a bad move for the game since it makes the entire table (especially the blinds who act first) play tighter. UTG straddle on the other hand acts as a pure third blind still incentivizing SB/BB to continue playing.
You hit one of the nails on the head Kyle! The BTN straddle can eliminate decent players on the left (or exacerbate bad player's mistake propensities when you have position)

I had a situation last week where 2 short stacks went all in with about 20-25 bbs and I ended up calling from the blinds with AThh. One had 52 and made a straight. Was AT suited a call in that spot?

On the KT vs QT hand where you chopped the pot, why didn't you go all-in (rather than call) on the river? Unless I'm missing something I think you have the best possible hand, so what's the downside of a shove? I realise you were pretty sure he had a ten, but it's not impossible he could have lost his mind and called with something like a set of aces. I think in some games it's actually mandatory to bet/raise (instead of checking/calling) in this scenario, to avoid collusion?

Totally fair point since rake had been maxed out at that point - shoving would have been better if nothing for the .1% chance villain brainfarts and folds. I think the mandatory raise would be in certain MTTs and not as much in cash fwiw.

Nope! I turned queens full of sixes live at 1/3 and got it all in with the effective nuts (discounting quad sixes) for a 1400 dollar pot. Villian had KK and 2 outed me on the river for a better boat

Can’t believe how people think they’re smarter than others at poker. A full house beats a pair all the time. A set beats two pairs. That’ll always be the case. Can’t believe vloggers think they’re doing something spectacular.

Yes, I realize that anyone else with a T also has the nuts, but at low stakes some players can accidentally fold not realizing they have the nuts. Is it just that you *know* he also has a T so you don’t care?

This was the first vlog I had to dislike. Due to 2 details. As a full time grinder it irked me.
1)we never include promos into our hourly win rate.
2) The AT off hand at the end is a 100% punt 100% of the time. A 4 bet at 1/2 or 1/3 is AA or KK almost 99% of the time. The other 1% it is AK suited.
1. That's part of the reason why I provided all of the numbers so you can calculate normal WR and also actual hourly
2. I'd say a 100% punt 98% of the time (though it was optimistic to assume this was in that "good 2%" lol)
For #1, that makes zero sense. You pay for the promos (and this deduction normally factors into your winrate) so why would you not include it when you get that money back? That's like saying they take the $1-$2 per winning hand from the pot and never give it back, creating a drag on winrate which simply doesn't exist.
You said you didn't like how one of the players knew you but didn't tell you he knew you? Why would that bother you?
