    The biggest issue I have with going big is overworking weaker areas especially ligaments not being prepared for it. Otherwise it's fun to see what you can do.

    I totally believe in consistency and doing what you can. Yes, some days suck, but there's always something you can do. It adds up long term.

      Totally agree! I got into lifting later than most, but after four years of really consistent training I'm easily one of the stronger guys at any commercial gym. I'm still one of the weakest guys at the powerlifting gym though because most people there have been consistent for ten or fifteen years compared to my four.

    I have to agree, Consistency as number 1. My diet, exercises, and even my plan have rotated, but I Consistently train and have increased my loads almost 30% from this time last year. Probably not great, but progress.

    Also love the strength gym argument. In my country you only got normal gyms, so thats also where the hulks are at. In my village a strongman also lived around the block and he was lifting tires and a small car. Ever since I just never thought a lift was heavy, just my range as of now. But more is always possible :)

    This video was realy grate and self explaining.But, do you have any advice for working class people, like physical workers like my self, who wakes up at 5am and ends his work day at 6pm.When at the end of the day, you barly have any strenght left to use for working out?

  • @TheSLK66
    @TheSLK66 17 дней назад +3

    Currently in a bench press plateau, I keep progressing at everything else except that. Been stuck at 205 lbs x 5 reps for like 8 months.

    • @patrickhodgson361
      @patrickhodgson361 17 дней назад +1

      You need a deload and change it up. Lighten it up start at 3x10 you can do without too much struggle and go up to 4x10, 5x10 over 4-8 weeks. Build up volume and reps. Add 5-10 pounds If you can when you can. Once you’re adapted and not making progress and stuck take a deload change it to a heavier 4x6 add 5 pounds a week until that’s tapped out. Deload and go to a heavier 3x5 same thing again. After your deloads you’ll see your strength shoot up and hit the next phase strong. You should be hitting 205x10 atleast after these phases

      Stop locking your scapula in place. Its not supposed to be locked on bench. Your problem is that you are using only anterior delts.

    • @Micheldied
      @Micheldied 17 дней назад

      @@deltalima6703 unless you know more than the biggest bench pressers on earth, that is horrible advice. It's just wrong if you think you only use anterior delts while locking your scapulae in place.

    • @vinnyvtec8722
      @vinnyvtec8722 16 дней назад +1

      One thing that dramatically improved my bench press training as a powerlifter, which will sound silly but it is a genuine thing, was I found out I wasn't training my back enough. After a few months of focusing on getting my upper back stronger, my plateau used to be 121.5kg for a single, I did it for a double, so next training session I tried 124kg and it went up easy, so tried 134kg, that felt easy too so went for 144kg and that moved fairly easy as well so got my all time pb of 151.5kg 1rm.
      Hope this helps if you try it.

    This might come as a surprise but here in Queens New York there are zero strength gyms and it sucks. I wish i could find a strongman/power lifting gym.
    Would love to push myself to my limit and see what i am capable of. Id be happy with a 5 plate deadlift for reps

    I tried the calculator and then a 1rep max on one-arm sitting dumbbell bicep curl. I do 6-7 reps on 16kg and the calculator said 19+- max. Loaded up 24kg (max my dumbell goes) and still got 1 rep. Idk if it's low weight or I'm just bad at more reps xD
