mna i use to live near there and hadded there chili like 100 times and it good as hell slaps hard af deadass no cap dont get mad cuz u aint hadded it yet my bf use to work there his name was tyrese and he made damn sure the chili was deadass he jus quit like 4 month ago but they still got damn good chili not as good as whe n he work there but close lets just say that u all hatin for no reason

This isn't chili, I knew that just by looking at it. It is old school hot dog sauce. I didn't want to be rude so I checked their menu. It never mentions chili only their famous"sauce" so calling them out on bad chili is poor form. Who cares if locals mistake it for chili.
I agree completely. This wasn't a chili review. It was a hot dog review. It doesn't compare to his best chili review since that was made to stand on its own. This sauce is more of a condiment, not its own dish. He also added cheese, onions and crackers to the best chili. Not a fair comparison whatsoever.
I’m pretty sure when he ordered he asked for chili tho. So if you give someone famous sauce instead of chili when they ask for chili, it’s kind of fair to judge it as a chili

In all fairness, Capital Lunch does not purport to serve chili and the words “chili” or “chili dog” do not appear on their menu.
What Daym is reacting to and calling chili is simply a condiment and listed in the menu as a condiment called “Famous Sauce”.
That being said, their distinctive “Famous Sauce” is certainly an acquired taste but it’s unfair to judge it as chili. It would be akin to judging ketchup as marinara.

Hotdog chili is more or less just a ground beef sauce. And I hear ya. Maybe Daym should’ve clarified it wasn’t officially chili. But regardless saying it’s an “acquired taste” isn’t exactly high praise lol. Seems like it might benefit from a chili powder packet.

Used to have a great little bar about a mile away from me that had banging chilli but that sold the place and kept the name and the recipe went with the original owner.
Looks like what we have on plates and dogs here in in Rochester, NY. Is def an acquired taste. Should have had some heat to it and yes that grit is part of being cooked down meat. Is different than chili I have had other places. Serving people frozen chili though?! That is wild!

Right...like that makes no sense to post that in a review. What normal person is worrying about other people minding their own business and texting. Why would you care what type of music they listen to? Unless the establishment was blasting rap music and the kids were too hyped over it, why is any of that stuff relevant other than making sure everyone knows what type of people you don’t want to be around. And why is that the fault of the establishment.

Used to live in New Britain on Clark st right around the corner from capital lunch. Poorest excuse for chili I have ever had in my life.
Some tomato soup or broccoli cheese dip n bite. now some pepper jack cheese verses swiss. That i know was panini pressed or they used weighted iron.
Chili do come in certain colors and taste, some people like to add cinnamon and brown sugar to the chili, something like to add garlic, and certain spices .
Yup one of the places local to me has coffee in theirs and another uses chocolate. I like them both depending on my mood that day. both luckily don't use beans tho because beans don't belong in chili
Try oxtails next w/rice and peas, cabbage mac and cheese joint best and worst Jamaican spots oh yea don’t forget about the beef patties w/coco bread

If you have the opportunity, and want some great chili, pull up to Skyline Chili or Gold Star Chili. Both offer Cincinnati chili. Grew up on it. Dad was from Cincinnati, and made it for us kids. They are in Ohio, Indiana, Kentucky and Florida. Been trying to get them to come to KC. So far NO luck. Going to keep trying. KC needs some chili. We are a food town after all.

Daym. As a foodie should knw that chili, beef stew & sometimes spaghetti sauce are better the nxt day. The chili at that other place was meant 4 the chili dogs. No onions, peppers & beans. We have a place like this here in DC called Ben's Chili Bowl. Their chili looka exactly like that. It's mainly to top the hot dogs, half smokes & burgers. It's ok, but rarely do i see ppl ordering it "solo dolo".
Waitress at that first place coming over and just immediately assuming the brother is there for wings...
That second place had some sad looking chili. Looks like all of the Cincinnati style chili that I've always seen but have thankfully never sampled.

Chili without beans is a 1st degree offense punishable by law!! Chili for hot dogs doesn’t need beans but it damn sure gotta taste good!!! That chili looked like mud.

He said the chili at capitol lunch needs to be rebranded, I looked at their menu and it doesn’t have chili on the menu at all. It’s called famous sauce and they don’t advertise that as chili. Now, not trying to defend some nasty famous sauce, but I digress!

Looks like Cincinnati style Chili, which isn't chili per say, more of a meat sauce that's heavily spiced. You need to try a quality Cincinnati Chili from Skyline or Gold Star if you ever find yourself in the area. It's really big on flavor and Skyline has the best shredded cheese in the game, period.

Chili is one of those things that sometimes lies with its presentation. I've had chili con carne that looked like straight up mud, but tasted divine. This stuff on the hot dog? This was not fibbing at all.
theres a place in Troy,NY thats super famous and their chili looks like this but all I can think about is how it looks like a certain type of human waste. Sorry for the mental image lol but everyone loves them but I just cant get past the visual.
