    I remember seeing this one at the time of broadcast and I immediately thought 'That's the worst negotiation I've ever seen on the show! No wonder Deborah ran for the hills. 😦

    That is the worst counter-offer ever seen. They demonstrated having no business acumen at all, Deborah saw that and dodged a bullet there.

    I really liked these two and was cheering them on to get an offer.. until they insulted Deborah by asking her to go down to a mere 5% once she'd got the business profitable! Whatever were they thinking! I am not surprised Deborah pulled out! 🤦🏻‍♀️

      Quite. You invest in a company because you are willing to take a risk and get a share of the profits commensurate with your investment. Why would an investor substantially cut their holding when it's giving a return?

    What a disaster. The business has been operating for 5 years and hasn't made a profit, and a dragon gives you an offer for under 50% of that business? The fact they didn't take it on the spot just shows how absolutely clueless they are. How can your business be worth anything at all if it hasn't made a profit? They didn't even know what they were supposed to counter, which was not to counter at all. Now they own 100% of a terminated business instead of owning 75% of a profitable, successful business.

      Happens many times on this show... they want 95% of the huge profits... but they won't get those huge profits without investment... so they want the investor to do all the work to make them huge profits but then give the investor next to nothing in return. 😕

    they could have done that deal a 20%, and everyone in the Den, and watching at home knows it. Drop down to 5%, insanity.

      They probably would, although DM doesn't ever like to hear about reducing her percentage.
      It was funny though how they mentioned in a post interview their ceiling was 10%, but still wanted to reduce the dragon to 5%.

      @@scienceevolves4417 even if Deborah had said no them asking for 20%, I dont think she would have cancelled the deal.
      The Dragons will either make a reasonable deal, or show understanding of the fact someones tried to make the deal. 5% or 10%, they got what they deserve.

      I think the 25% with the same drop but to 20% when she got her money back would’ve been accepted. They really devalued her experience and what she’d bring to the table.

    These people are delusional, imagine losing money every year previous, not knowing current losses in year and then saying no to an offer from someone who would skyrocket their businesses’ visibility even from an awareness perspective on the basis of a valuation calculation pulled out of thin air when final costs etc. haven’t even been worked out for upcoming festivals. They were so close yet so far lmao

      Lots of companies don't. It's a lot of voodoo magic in balance sheets. Particularly true for the service Industries because it's not like what when you sell widgets where you have a cost of goods sold and the price of good Souls oh, and your overheads and everything it's nice and simple. In a service industry, you're very often working cash accounting, Milestone doing, and your Revenue overtime looks like a Sawtooth. Traditional balance sheet it's not necessarily a reflection of what's actually going on

      Definitely. Asking an investor to give back 75% of their shares after a while… it’s insulting, it’s like “we’ll use you then you’re basically nothing to us”. Not a way to build relationships even though they didn’t mean it in a mean way

      The company is still active but in May 2022 they were given notice of compulsory strike off the register which was lifted in June 2022, they're listed on Companies House under the name of "Adventure Camp Limited"
