I bought a 335i 3 years ago for 8k it was already built and had every repair done! It was build at redline performance in Knoxville Tennessee! It had 600HP and was super reliable! The only thing I had to do was to replace the serpentine belt
I got one 5k 240k miles and it’s fucking immaculate. Came with pure 600s and 535 lpfp full m suspension figured if it goes out the pures and suspension makes the car worth it.

i feel like everyone forgets we got the 335d in the states. Surprised you didn't mention the m57 at all considering its a tank that runs forever and gets 30+mpg. Also with the right modification its the best sound E9x in my opinion.
Super fun to watch this video after owning a black E92 for the last 8 months. I bought a 2010 EU 325i, so with the Na I6 N53 with 218hp,. with 140k kms and it was the one that was best taken care of from the bunch that I researched. And with aftermarket exhaust and M sport package. Also if you are curious wheels are BMW 225 style so 19 inch 35 sidewall. Next up for me is spacers and Eibach pro-kit springs. Man this car is so so so fun, the drivability is insane for a 13 yo car. It's good looking, and with a couple aesthetic tweaks it just doesn't look like like a car from the 2010's. But of course let's talk repairs. I had to do quite a lot of maintenance for it to idle with stability. Thankfully most of it covered by the second hand dealership warranty. Others made by me and my mechanics. In my case it has been: Coils and spark plugs, Injectors, Oil filter housing gasket, Valve cover gasket, and more typical maintenance. With these repairs my mechanic told me "is the best running N53 I think I've ever seen in the shop", so super happy about that. If well taken care of the non turboed N53 are tanks. Next up here is walnut blasting for sure. All and all -> Would recommend, the repairs have been worth it, I'm loving my car and I'm learning a bunch on engine repairs lmao
hi, i have the same car. Mine is a 2010 325i RWD with a manual gearbox with leather interior, m sport package and idrive in saphire metalic black. I Own it for 2 years now and the only thing that broke down was the nox sensor and the radiator drain plug. i do the maintenance myself. Has m sport exhaust, m220 whels from the m3, carbon bmw spoiler, intake refractor delete. Next mods are lsd diff with diferent gear ratio, 3 stage intake with remap. Love the car and i hope you like yours too.
335i n54, downpipes, intercooler, fuel pumps, port injection, single turbo kit, 5k for maintenance, tune, lsd = 600-800hp depending on turbo with unopened motor.
@@andressandate1199 say that to the thousands of people who have been running at those power levels for years on unopened motors. hp doesnt kill these cars, high low end torque does, which can be tuned out, and is much less of a factor with a single turbo compared to twins.

Man those B-rolls at the intro is basically how see my stock oem E90 328i and the thing is a N51 haha no 335i pulls, still really nice. I just love the balance of the saloon.
Love my N54 335xi. Picked it up over the summer bone stock, old-man driven, never seen a winter and with only 54000 KMs. That being said, the clutch slave and master cylinders went recently lmao but I’m looking to push for more power in the spring 😼
Make sure you start with catch can, radiator, and intercooler. The reason why a lot of gaskets fail is because engine bay temps get too high. Save you money and maintenance down the road and invest in cooling before tuning!!
If you got a N54 you most definitely need an oil catch can. For the high side and the low side.. either block off PCV ports in the head or buy a PCV delete.. if you don't you're going to constantly have to take your intake manifold off and walnut blast your intake ports. If you're running port injection that will help keep the ports and the valves clean... But you want to try and avoid having to deal with it all together
High side barley does much better off doing it all together like you said full external pcv but for the fucking headache of trying to get that crankcase pressure right for the external I almost don’t mind dealing with walnut. Even easier just do the pi like you also stated lol
I’m a 20 year mechanic that has owned one 335i and buying my second now I agree with him on everything… well maybe besides good daily lol. I have a good high miles truck so it’s easy for me.
Took almost 700whp 31 psi misfiring and pulling -7 of timing on all cylinders and beating the absolute balls off of it for it to crack a ring. Things can take a beating lol
Ive got one and love it. I would have liked a bit more in detail on the n52, as i think its a great daily personally, and at least in the 328, you can get to 330 numbers which are close to stock 335 numbers. (with more work, can smoke them) As for mods, you can go to m sport stuff, and give a really clean OEM plus look. Wheels can be BBS RS GT's or something similar. As for interior, the lci use the same drive system as the f30s and can be modified to have apple carplay which is super modernising and convenient. Also what other car can you get so many OEM licenced modifications? You can get Alcantara shift boots and licenced short shifters, its just cool. You also didn't talk about the lci's, but I guess its not about buying them, its about modifying them. Also its really cool how you are able to talk to a bunch of different people about it, because unlike your 07 wrx or whatever, older adults love talking to you about their old cars, and its kinda cool to hear their stories, and i think they let you in a bit because its not as flashy as an f30 or something. Finally, its a BMW, so... it sounds cool to talk about.
Ha funny you mention about older adults. I've had the same experience, after I restored some old looking exterior parts in my E92 and installed a couple more now it has a clean OEM+ look and I've striked a couple conversations in the big parking where my car sleeps. Normally older gentleman with older generations BMWs, pretty cool stories

+1 on the N52. Currently around 300 crank NA power 7500rpm and I’ve seen up to 315 crank NA power on this platform. Boosted, it flows better then N54 and N55 and can handle around 550whp before needing internals
E90 is the drivers car. People that enjoy driving and feeling connectivity to the road. Definitely needs suspension upgrade because it's too comfort oriented and feels like a boat without them.

"ask about if there's been any repairs to the oil flow and the hydraulic valve lifter issue...those have a tendency to fail because of their design"...a huge amount of them were recalled back when they were new, so the ones on the road today don't have lifter failures. sure, they tick, but its a non issue. what you really need to look out for is Oil filter housing gasket leaks that can cause your belts to fail and get sucked into the motor. from my experience and understanding, that's about the only regular catastrophic failure that the n52 is subject to. there are other failure points but usually not catostrophic- water pump, mickey mouse flange, GM auto trans. fantastic motor and car overall
Side note for the n45, and a decent amount of other engines from BMW, 90 percent of the surrounding parts are plastic, which is why the valve covers are so prone to cracking and breaking from the rapid heating and cooling.
I got a 335 xi e90 and actually got my wheel and tire setup from FI and the tires debeaded within weeks lmao. But you were spot on about most things but the heart of it is actually super solid . It’s the Mitsubishi turbos , walbro fuel pump that’s part of a class action and all the other out sourced parts they use . Also the vacuum lines are in awful places so they burn up and leak if you don’t upgrade to silicone lines but the sequential turbos , the aftermarket support and the ridiculous ease to tune them ( I had mhd and it was flawless) makes it’s all worth it. Oh btw don’t get a awd car if you plan on doing downpipes . Trust me you’ll thank me later
The second wheel fitment recommendation you gave wouldn't work on non-M e9x, maybe the source you got that data from is for M3 e9x, those will fit nicely and already be on the wider side on an M3, but won't work on non-M, not even with rolled fenders.
Im buying a manual 2010 n55 335i, it has 69k miles on the clock. Im planning to overhaul the entire engine and do some reliability mods when it gets built back up. I have already got my steering and handling mods including uprated brakes ect. Im only looking to push around 400-450hp. My main focus is just pushing that amount reliably and also focus on quicker shifts through upgrading the clutch and using a short shifter. Really and truly im trying to create a track/street build that focuses more on cornering than going sideways. Any tips?

Get yourself a 330d- N57, turbosystems stage 3, watermeth, intercooler, downpipe and intake and you'll be well into the 350-400hp range. Best part is, 550 + ft/lb
Makes me sad the 335d got one sentence in this video, such a slept on combo in these cars. Things a tank. Love mine, Find one low miles one with clean history. Preferably one with glow plugs/module replaced, injectors recently and thats about it. If you get an X5d look out for a transfer case as well replacement before buying. Otherwise delete it and drive it. They are without question the more reliable engine package. 350hp, 585ft-lbs reliable. Find one before you cant.
My E90 doesnt have iDrive :( i have a 318i Definitely gonna put alot of work into it, once i figure out the issue i have atm. Supposedly the mechanic i brought it to found metal shavings (when i push the car it shows me an oil light in red) so i now have to do an oil change, filter change, clean out the oil pan and before i do anything about the timing chain i'll do the chain tensioner to see if old oil + clogging might have caused it to malfunction, since the chain isnt sitting on properly (even after getting the engine warm the chain has give, which it isnt supposed to have) Wish me luck guys, first car, bought 6 days ago...

I modded my e92 335is. Just need to run the correct oil for bottom end. A crank seal protector on a N54 is useless you can add it perfectly on correctly it will wear down and fall off onto the undertray. A bad silicon inlet can get kinked behind or the front just won't fit so relocate or run stock intake. big intercooler is great but what do the stock turbos want to do? downpipes are fine but what's the point? I think N54 needs either all or nothing FBO is a joke for any N54. They're crap. I'd take a stock N54 over FBO.
The bad mods will throw it into limp mode a kinked rear Inlet will mess with the rear turbo and keep you from doing a full pull. HPFP is just basic maintenance. expect to cough up plugs and coils every 15 thousand miles on a tune and injectors need to be fully upgraded index 12 and teflon wrapped. I think you are right about the bottom end it's always concerning but only if you are FBO. good luck fitting downpipes on a DCT E92 335is I did the arm DP. it fits it's just impossible to connect the dual M series exhaust. access is denied. and God help whoever needs to remove the ARM DP on a 335is. rather God help you if decide to install DP on a 335is. they work fine but trust me you don't want to do what I did to get them on. BTW the down streams don't clear the transmission. if you want to do it the right way relocate the downstreams.

Cool fact: N52 can run without an intake manifold. Attach some runners and you got “budget” ITBs due to Valvtronic motor (with a tune)

I have a problem with my 2011 328i e90 everytime im like posted at a stop light if it idles to long it begins to squeak bmw bros lmk cuz i deadass cant find a vid in relation to my problem 😔(edit) i was locked in on the vid it is not the e90 even tho they have they exact same body scepts its just the 328i v6 3.0 liter inline yk super torque havin driftmobile type things however not to long after purchaee i started to experience the idle squeak dilemma pls lmk if you know anything abt beamers much abliged and thankyou kindly

Should I mod my 328i at all? I know I cant really get much hp gains, but what about suspension, body kits, wheels or other exterior costmetic things?
You can do headers, 3 stage intake, and tune for good power gains.

I modded my e92 335is. Just need to run the correct oil for bottom end. A crank seal protector on a N54 is useless you can add it perfectly on correctly it will wear down and fall off onto the undertray. A bad silicon inlet can get kinked behind or the front just won't fit so relocate or run stock intake. big intercooler is great but what do the stock turbos want to do? downpipes are fine but what's the point? I think N54 needs either all or nothing FBO is a joke for any N54. They're crap. I'd take a stock N54 over FBO.
The bad mods will throw it into limp mode a kinked rear Inlet will mess with the rear turbo and keep you from doing a full pull. HPFP is just basic maintenance. expect to cough up plugs and coils every 15 thousand miles on a tune and injectors need to be fully upgraded index 12 and teflon wrapped. I think you are right about the bottom end it's always concerning but only if you are FBO. good luck fitting downpipes on a DCT E92 335is I did the arm DP. it fits it's just impossible to connect the dual M series exhaust. access is denied. and God help whoever needs to remove the ARM DP on a 335is. rather God help you if decide to install DP on a 335is. they work fine but trust me you don't want to do what I did to get them on. BTW the down streams don't clear the transmission. if you want to do it the right way relocate the downstreams.
