      I have found consistently in overlanding videos and my own overlanding travels that no matter how decked out your rig is, there will always be someone out there in a hilarious vehicle. I remember in one of Trail Recon's videos with Nate from Dirt Lifestyle they're talking about the difficulty of the track as a Subaru blows by in the background.
      Toyota World Runners have a video titled "Now THIS is REMOTE". They're about to start traveling through the Paracas National Preserve in Peru. Epic drone shot, voice over explaining how desolate and dangers their crossing will be....Guy in a 3 wheeled tuck-tuck comes ripping through the opposite direction like it's just another day.
      In my own travels I drove up this crazy turn-off from a forest road, really steep rocky and muddy, put it in 4 low and powered up it to get a campsite. Feeling all cool and overlandy. Couple hours later dude in like a 2005 Buick LeSabre comes ripping up the hill like it's a mall parking lot.

    Your boy is already a great traveler! It's great to see boys and fathers. You are both so lucky! Like everyone else, I loved the UPS water crossing. Every time I see a UPS driver I thank them for their service, LOL. On X must have a huge affiliate budget because all the influencers are on board. Apps like On X and Gaia are great if your travels are largely pre-scripted and you can download all the maps you need for your route. If you live out on the road as I do, wander freely, and rarely pre-script anything, more often than not you end up with no maps at all. No one ever mentions this tiny detail. I actually signed onto Gaia because of a glowing review by another influencer that I trusted. I tried both apps and dumped them both in favor of Garmin Tread. No, it doesn't have all the wonderful features, but the one BIG feature it does have is that no matter where I go, I have preloaded maps.

    • @RevereOverland
      @RevereOverland  2 месяца назад

      He loves it!
      I’ve tried Garmin, but it wasn’t for me. The preloaded maps are nice and the way it works with the Power Switch, emergency comms, and Bluetooth cameras is really neat. That being said, you could buy a tablet and download the entire US map from OnX or Gaia for the same price. It’s not something I consider much, since I have Starlink running on my truck!

    • @davids.4760
      @davids.4760 2 месяца назад

      @@RevereOverland Well, I tried to download a large section of just Utah for a trip I was planning. It was about 1/4 of the state and I think 3 or 4 layers. Have you ever tried to do that? After about 6 hours it said "download complete". What it didn't tell me is that it had throttled the resolution due to the file size. When I tried to open it, all I had was a blurry mess. If not for a few paper maps on board, I would have had nothing. Yeah, my bad for not verifying what I had. I really got blindsided. I didn't have Starlink at the time. I do now, but it's just not how I want to spend my time when I'm out. Again, I know that these downloaded apps have advantages too. I'm not an advocate for any of these utilities. Garmin has it's issues too. This is just my experience.

    Children's car seat that rotates for safety ? wonder how all the billions of people on earth survived childhood... 😄and the cars back then had waaaaay less of all them ridiculous electronic 'safety' devices of which the majority have just been developed to keep us dull and make us avoid to use our brain and intuition.
    There is so much to see out there. Activating our senses and curiosity is so important, especially at young age. Just looking at the back seat is pretty dull and as a result I dare to say, keeps life dull. But I guess you sort of got the message from your cute little boy's joyfulness laugh.
    Going to D-Land... be sure to keep your eyes on your precious little boy as lots of children tend to go missing at that location every day. 🍀
