    Used exact same method before and could not remember the Sketchup part. Awesome tutorial, clean, simple, to the point, under 4 minutes. Good job!

    Super good! But can't I drape in sketchup?

      I just looked it up, I believe you can! I've just never used it before and do most my modelling in Rhino :p

    Doesnt work, all I get is a blank screen with a search bar and nothing else, it will search if i type something in but does not display anything at all

      You might need to sign in with the button in the bottom left corner. I think this feature requires the pro version of sketchup now too which is a pain

    Thanks, this is really cool. But it would truly be useful if there was a way to get the 3D model georeferenced rather than just imported at 0,0? Do you know if this is possible?

    • @kylesinko

      Thanks Isaiah. I'm not sure that's a feature yet. You may have to manually adjust to import for now unfortunately

    Thank you, I just have a question, I don't use Rhino but Cinema 4D, it's kind of similar. Do you know if it's possible to do the same thing with this software?

    • @kylesinko
      @kylesinko  3 года назад +1

      Hey Clara. I haven't done much modelling in Cinema 4D. I wouldn't be able to tell you sorry. Let us know if you find a way to do it though :)

    Hi, in sketchup free (web), when I add location, only openstreet map is shown, only roads, there's no sat view, map type button is without effect.

    • @stilobic
      @stilobic 4 года назад

      I guess it is a limitation of the web vers. Now i downloaded the last sketchup make version (2017) and i can import sat region, but still when I put show terrain, nothing happens

    • @stilobic

      I answer to myself, the map precision is not high enough to see any relief on a 1000 m2 landscape :( It works but on a such bigger region; So it's useless for me. thx anyway

    So what does the drape command do exactly? Once I used the command it significantly reduced my topography. Thanks!

    • @kylesinko
      @kylesinko  3 года назад +1

      The drape command creates a blanket over the complex surface. Or, as stated by McNeel (the creators of Rhino) "The Drape command creates a surface through points defined at the intersection of objects and points projected toward the construction plane in the current viewport".
      You can change the spacing of the drape in the command line. "All points within the draped surface are evenly-spaced at a distance set by the Spacing option. The lower the number, the more dense the surface will be."
      I hope that helps Stefan!

    Hi there! I'm on a mac and when I try importing my skp file into rhino it says error. Is this because I am a mac user?

    • @kylesinko
      @kylesinko  3 года назад

      Good question. I'm not entirely sure as I've never been a mac user but could be a possibility. Hopefully someone can confirm?

  • @hilalsahin5573

    Does it also work with buildings or is it just for exporting the topography? CAD Mapper doesn't work for the region I selected and I don't want to model the whole district (it has dozens of buildings lmao)

    • @kylesinko
      @kylesinko  3 года назад +1

      Unfortunately it's just topography :( CAD Mapper is good but never has the buildings I need. I have been just modelling up context manually at the moment, trying to find a better method so let me know if you find one!

    Is there a way to add the physical topography lines to this?

    • @kylesinko
      @kylesinko  3 года назад +1

      You can use the "contour" command in Rhino on a surface. When you specify a distance, you can create the physical lines at different intervals over the surface.

    Is there a way to adjust the terrain if I know it isn’t accurate

    • @kylesinko
      @kylesinko  3 года назад

      You can turn the points on in Rhino (POn command) and adjust the points manually. If you need more points you can rebuild the surface.
