    I’ve never regretted buying preps, especially ones that I use regularly. This is a great idea

    I have been thinking about getting a larger ice maker... Perfect timing. The one that I currently have has been only used once to make sure it works is the portable patio ice maker....Had one in my RV way back in '05 coming across the US and it broke years later. Replaced it for SHTF TIMES.
    The price will never go down. Time to save up for one.... Thanks buddy.

    Great idea! yes, just grab a couple of good 5-7 day ice chests and use your generator to make ice instead of trying to keep full size refrigerator/freezer going. Take a lot less gas. Seems like that thing will deplete my solar batteries pretty darn quick and where I live we can go days without direct sunlight. I don't I need something quite a large though.

    What made you choose this over a 12v Chest freezer like a Dometic, (or if you wanted to spend more an Engel) and just use ice trays given the cost? Just curious. I use my Engel Chest freezer and silicone Ice trays and for big blocks silicone bread loaf pans. It is also very low power.

    • @cheeto.1
      @cheeto.1 3 года назад +3

      Damn Im torn between the two. The Dometic is a great machine

      @@marthagonzalez5528 The Engel is top of the line that is why it is so expensive. Buy once cry once.

    Sounds like a nice unit, especially considering your location. I like that UV sanitizer. Some ice machines I have seen haven't been cleaned and have growth in them. Have you ever tried any of the smaller ones capable of running on 12v?
    There is another disaster Prepper that recommends the small units for those who have perishable medications for SHTF conditions under the premise that the energy use is much lower to make the ice and last longer then trying to keep a refrigerator unit going. Especially since most of us are sitting on $30K+ generators as long as we have gas to keep the car running.
