I'm super excited for him! He seems like he'd be interesting to play as for mix up users as he is primarily zone but can also grapple. Definitely a new and innovative character who seems like he'd fit my play style
I hope we get more DLC in the future. I would love to see Typhlosion, Samurott, Electivire, Aerodactyl, Genesect, Haxorus, Deoxys, Zoroark, Kangaskan, Kommo-o, Serperior, or Houndoom become playable characters. Incineroar would be great too just to see it dropping everyone with clotheslines, powerbombs, suplexes, DDTs, and piledrivers.
I feel like people are forgetting that an actual tortoise has long legs and blastoise is just one with shoulder mounted cannons so his design does fit when you look at it from that standpoint

You think so? Blastoise has his own ranged options. Water Gun and follow-ups go basically the whole screen, Hydro Pump is an anti-air beam attack, Water Spout has some range while piercing counter and pushing the target *toward* Blastoise, he's got a Counter rush-in attack, a mid-range command grab... I think he can find a way to get in if he takes his time, so long as the player knows reasonably what they're doing.
Looks like they gave it longer arms and legs so its reach wouldn't be so short in melee. Of course it's a ranged fighter so I'm not sure if that was necessary.

Me too. Even aside from the mega it could be a party girl type character. Kinda like Braixen as far as being a peppy feminine character but for partying. When it evolves it could become a true fighter though and it could also confuse with punches, jump kick, and trick poison items onto other Pokemon.

If pokemon super mystery dungeon can have all 720 pokemon and on the 3DS...surely the switch can handle putting all 807 pokemon and the going to be added gen 8 pokemon in the 2nd or maybe the 3d pokken game. Expect to see a LOT of Blastoise online for a while. But don't worry too much, it will pass given a few weeks, then he won't be much more common than any of the other characters. Same thing happened with Aegislash.

I mean, I guess the punches look a little odd since his arms kind of stretch, but I really like all of his other moves. In fact, I think they look awesome and I'm even more hyped than before. So what's the issue animation wise?

Just dumping any old Pokemon isnt going to work in this game. The Pokken Community asks that we get balanced Pokemon over (insert obvious fighting type Pokemon/Greninja/or Venasaur here) And, yes again, this isn't Smash.

But, the model really has grown on me, and I'm really happy that he's in the game. I understand it of course, but it does kind of bum me out that there's so much negativity surrounding my favorite Pokemon being in the game, like people saying that he shouldn't have been in the game at all, and saying that he "looks like shit" and all that. Those are perfectly valid viewpoints to have, and I do see where they're coming from, but they do make me feel a little sad all the same.
My money is on the last DLC character being a form of Lycanroc. Rock is the only type not currently represented in Pokken, so Lycanroc seems like it would be a good fit. Also Pokken only has one true Quadruped right now, so Dusk would make a lot of sense.
