    Your joyous positivity is inspiring.
My favourite road trip here is from Sydney along the coast to Adelaide with a few detours along the way including Mallacoota and of course Tasmania (by car ferry).

Hope you have a great fun and safe trip in my beautiful country! I travelled around Australia MANY years ago with a mate in a Suzuki Sierra! Worst 4WD ever haha! Slept in a crappy 2-man tent. In the middle of Australia, it overheated if we went over 70 kph so we had plenty of time to take in the view! In 99 I travelled all around Europe, just a backpack. You just sort out issues as you go, nothing's a hassle when you're on holidays. They didn't have the Euro yet, so we'd have to exchange money all the time, figure out different cultures and ways of doing things. At least in Australia you don't have those problems. You just adapt and have fun. You look like you've got great kids, well-behaved. Enjoy, and welcome!

Welcome back to Australia 😊 I grew up in Qld. Bribie Island (pronounced Bry-bee) is great for fishing and letting the kids run around. Fraser Island is a huge national park, but beware of dingoes! The further north you go, the more tropical and humid the weather will get, especially at this time of year. The Whitsundays are beautiful, as is Magnetic Island off Townsville. Cairns is green as can be, and rains a LOT 😅 Not sure how your camper will go in the wilds of the Daintree, but I'm sure other more knowledgeable ppl will help you in the comments. Don't forget places like Kuranda, Malanda and Millaa Millaa in the Atherton Tablelands west of Cairns. Gorgeous area with waterfalls everywhere ❤

Where the surf disappears heading north is around the point where more water based dangers start. Crocs, irukandji and sea wasps (box) jellyfish, besides the normal stuff. Please be aware, do your own due diligence and best of all ask the locals. Great to see you guys back.
The Bruce Highway heading north has problem areas where fatigue and impatience can be deadly. Dad, got to have your breaks from driving. There is Mum and rest areas and service stations to stretch your legs and gather. Don't drive fatigued EVER. You and your family are too precious as are all others on the road. Don't rush. Night time is down time. Be safe so you can keep letting all of us know you're happy and safe.

I thought you would head south for sure to Byron Bay. If you go north, dont' go further than Noosa cause it just geta hotter and more humid. South is the way to go. Byron Bay, Yamba, Coffs Harbour, Belligen and Dorrigo could then keep going inland to Armidale then Tamworth. Else, keep to coast South West Rocks, Crescent Heads, Port Macquarie, Bluey's Beach, Seal Rocks, Port Stephens, Newcastle, Avoca beach Central Coast, Sydney, Palm Beach & Pittwater, Blue Mountains, Bald Hills looking over Stanwell Park towards Woollongong, Kiama, Berry, Kangaroo Valley, Jervis Bay, Narooma seals on breakwall, Bega, Merimbula, Mallocoota, Lakes Entrance, Russell Island ferry over to see koalas in wild, Buchan limestone caves down to Wilsons Promontory. Into Melbourne then onto Great Ocean Road.

Use the cigarette connection for the inverter. There should be a 12v connection on the dash or centre console. Only use it when driving though.

For some reason our inverter didnt have a cigarette lighter connector but the third battery for the van is back by the living area so not too bad.

@ yeh, a recent survey of global travellers by Flight Centre rated Perth the no. 1 city to visit in the world.
My German friends like it here because there are so few people… “We can’t believe you can drive for hours and never see another car….”

It's a shame you won't make the west coast. Is it the best place in Australia? It's certainly in the conversation.

You might find Bribie a bit of a let-down - it's nicest if you have a 4WD and go up the beach a bit. It's pretty quiet but still pretty. On your way up to the Daintree, I hope you spend some time at one of the nicest places in Qld - The Whitsundays. Sometimes you can get a deal and rent a whole house for about the same price as the hotels on Hamilton Island. As the whole island is owned by the same company, even renting a house you get the use of a golf buggy to get around, and are allowed to use the hotel pools - and kids eat for free. You must then take a trip to Whitehaven Beach - but take shade with you! Another way to see them is to do a bareboat charther - I've done this 3 times now - and you can take the boat wherever you want. Good luck!

Do they still let off a canon in the afternoon at Bribie Island to frighten off the squawking wildlife? There was no warning for us just a couple of BOOMs. We had no idea what it was about until it was explained to us. The birds came back anyway!
