      I'm with this guy. As a fourty-three year old guy that hasn't been shown how to sew since "Home Economics" class in grade school, this was the perfect video. Thank you!

    Thanks! Accidentally ripped some of the stitches on my backpack while on a hike. I really like this backpack, so it's nice to be able to learn how to repair it myself...for when I inevitably tear more stitches on it again...from overstuffing it...again ✌️😅

    If anyone is wondering why the audio kept cutting off at certain points, it's because she was swearing from frustration 😂

    This helped me out so much! One of my favorite t-shirts had a seam coming apart and I hadn't been able to wear anywhere for a while. This video was so clear and concise, that even a novice like me was able to execute it pretty well!

    This is a very nice video showing the basics of a double running stitch, fast and secure. For beginners this hand posture it´s ok, but if you plan to stitch by hand and want to do it fast then you should use a thimble and change the posture, so it´s easier and the grip feels secure.

    Thread the needle 0:35
    Knot the end 0:58
    Back stitching needle route map 1:39
    'The neat way' demo 2:05
    'The quick way' demo 3:55
    Removing a stitch is also simple. Just pull the needle off the thread, use the needle to tease out the stitch, then re-thread your needle and you're good to go! The needle re-threading can be the tricky part, so if the thread begins to fray, try wetting it.
    If anyone's looking for a practical hand sewing project, I have a cotton face mask tutorial. This project may seem daunting, especially if it's you're a beginner, but it's using this exact stitch & sewing 2 layers together. Enjoy!

    What is the importance, if any, of having one piece of thread for the length of an entire seam - as in a pant leg? I find it difficult to “wrangle” a long length of thread. It always gets tangled or makes an unwanted knot. Is it okay to sew an entire seam length with smaller pieces of thread or does it have to be one?

    • @EmmaSandy
      @EmmaSandy  6 месяцев назад +1

      Smaller lengths sounds good to me! Easier to make it neat and probably save time overall with less untangling knots 🪢 😄

    How did get the thread on the needle

    • @EmmaSandy
      @EmmaSandy  3 года назад +1

      I wet the thread, roll it between my fingers and keep the thread there. Now slowly reveal the threat, and try to squeeze it through the eye of the needle. Good luck!

    I have never seen this type of back stitch how durable is it?

    • @EmmaSandy
      @EmmaSandy  4 года назад +3

      I've hand sewn masks this way & after 4 months of use regular hand-washing they're still looking good! Although, I don't think it beats a machine sewn seam on durability.

      @@EmmaSandy the machine stitch and this stitch it´s exactly the same, if done properly, It should last.
