@TheCharismaticVoice Totally agree with @Obituarybunny You should react to "Nero forte", a wonderful song (in my opinion, the best on the album "We are not your kind") that has it all. A guitar riff and drums that are out of this world, Corey Taylor doing the best rapping of his entire discography, and, of course, the band's usual rhythm changes. A masterpiece of brutal aggressiveness, in which the quality of everything is of a very high level.

As someone who also used to have a very hard time watching horror movies and anything gory, what really helped me was learning how special effects are done. Once you see how fake organs are made, for instance those brains are very likely made of gelatin, I find it a lot easier to see past the scariness and nastiness. Also I would love so much if you could get corey taylor to do a throat cam like Will, that would be so cool!

Back in the 90's they had the horror hall of fame on tv. (You can still find it on RUclips) It was like the oscars for horror movies and special effects, hosted by Robert Englund and the Crypt Keeper. When I saw how much fun the people had making horror movies and doing the effects, it changed horror for me forever. I have never been scared of a movie since. Instead I just fell in love with them, trying to imagine the ridiculousness of what probably went on behind the scenes and how they did certain effects 😂

    Slipknot Hive Mind lyrics:
    Yeah
Rise, we're gonna need another witness just like you
Surprise, your inadmissible testimony might be true
You better pull the hood (get it off, get it off)
You'll be lucky to tear the place down
Then you're gone for good (set it off, set it off)
Scorched earth is your favorite sacred ground
Turn away if you know you wanna stay
But you're never gonna like what's left of me
When the carcass is down and the predator's around
You gotta play dead if you wanna run free
You're such a tortured soul but I don't wanna hear about it
You say you're not involved but all you do is talk about it
Go bless the shit, where you belong
    For your own information
    For your own entertainment
This hell comes to you live
And if you need some assistance
A little time to convince it
Dial in your sordid hive mind
Crawl across the broken glass of every window you're pressed against
And scrawl your little bits of hate, your little digital graffiti breaks
So don't close your eyes (get it off, get it off)
When you're pulling your messages down
Don't wanna go to sleep (set it off, set it off)
You'll be lucky if they take you without making a sound
What a guy, god I hope you fuckin die and your sympathies don't mean a shit to me
When the confidence goes and the predator knows
You better be dead if you wanna be free
You're such a tortured soul but I don't wanna hear about it
You say you're not involved but all you do is talk about it
One more thing and don't forget to burn
    For your own information
    For your own entertainment
This hell comes to you live
And if you need some assistance
A little time to convince it

I know you have alot going on with the suggestions but you NEED to do the first 2 albums from Slipknot, specially IOWA. That is the classic era of Slipknot, any song! Pleaseeee
P.D: you haven't heard Chino Moreno's harsh vocals yet! He even did some rapping in the first Deftones albums. I also think is a must the heavier side of Mike Patton, he have some of the most incredible screams in music! Mr. Bungle's self titled album would be crazy.
I also strongly recommend to check out Kyo's work in the japanese band Dir En Grey, specially their live performances! Inhumane sounds come from that man and also some heavenly clean singing.

Would be interesting to see an analysis of their earlier stuff when Corey sang “wrong”. Recommend either the music video for Spit It Out or the live performance in London 2002.
Corey sings the same from 2008 forwards in terms of technique, and was widely different in both harsh and cleans before, leading to a blowout before the change.

Slipknot was one of the most miserably boring live shows out nearly 200 concerts that I've attended. I might have liked it when I was 15. Thankfully they were opening for Korn. No contest. Funny because I've seen Taylor solo and with Stone Sour and it was fine. They should at least lose the masks and ditch the trash can banging.

Speaking of adding pitch to distorted vocals, I'd love to hear your assessment of former The Haunted vocalist Peter Dolving, particularly on the songs listed below. (The proper studio recordings, please, not live clips.) I find the breadth of textures and timbres he uses within a single song or even a single line -- from wistful to furious to, well, haunted -- unrivalled by anyone in the metal genre short of Mike Patton. Even when he pushes his voice into breakup it isn't a simple case of "monotone cookie monster mode: on / off" but rather a sliding scale of intensity applied to the melody, perhaps reflecting the degree that the thought being expressed at any given moment pisses him off. You can often hear the grit-to-note ratio shifting as he tears into a lyric, then shifting back again as the last syllable tapers off, as if he's been emotionally drained by the effort. Sometimes he'll pair one highly distorted sustained note with another -- a harmony, I suppose, though the term feels out of place here.
    "The Drowning"
    "The Medusa"
    "Done"
    "My Shadow"

I actually run into issues with how desensitized I am to generally disgusting stuff. I went to a trade high school that specializes in medicine, so since I was 14 until 18 I was exposed to human anatomy, both in forms of images and IRL. I think we learned how to put in urinary catheters when we were around 16, and I remember watching an open heart surgery at 17.
I sometimes bring up stuff that most people find offputting, sometimes even while we're eating. I'm so used to it that I forget that not everyone is like that.
Now as a radiology tech, my job is literally to look at people's insides with a fancy machine, so I doubt I'll ever go back to being sensitive to it.
With this video I had zero issues, and most of the "gore" was quite obviously fake. The faces look like wax, and the brains are just jelly that's colored red.

    Dear patron
I have a simple request. Whilst across the pond there have been a couple significant events heard in respect of the Celtic nation that appear to have gone unnoticed.
I request that we focus on a couple of poets.
Sadly Shane Macgowan recently passed away. A true poet and unique. Perhaps someone can suggest Elizabeth does a review of Thousands are sailing as a tribute.
Secondly as I sit hear on Burns night and thinking of Kirk’s Scottish heritage I think a review of Marillion is in order. Another true poet. Perhaps Bitter Suite, A script for a Jester’s tear or even Fugazi.
If you can make it happen Patreon I would be truly grateful. Thank you.

Elizabeth, thanks for sharing and putting yourself through what must have been a harrowing experience for you, but kudos to you for such a great analysis of an amazing track! I hope you haven't had too many nightmares after that 🙂😘❤
Polite suggestions for future videos, and I'm going to keep requesting these for ever and day, until you get sick of me 🤭🤭🙂
    1. Pretty, Pretty, Pretty Please - a throat cam episode with Corey Taylor if he's up for it. That would be amazing! If you manage to to do that please ask him to say F**K YOU in a raised voice because in my humble opinion, there's no one I've ever heard who can say that with such Expression, Meaning, Intensity, Power and Venom!
    2. You singing the harsh vocals you have been learning either as a collaboration with Will or as a solo.
    3. Tool - Schism, not just Maynard's vocals but the music/time signature/meter shifts as well. Please be warned though don't go too deep into the music, as if you try to analyse it too deeply the video would be multiple hours/days long.
    4. Tool - Ticks and Leeches (with the same criteria as No.3)
    Much ❤
