YES. Typical SNL progression: * Make sketch with joke that is (perhaps) funny for the first 90 seconds. Stretch it out to 4-5 minutes until it becomes annoying. * Do followup sketch in ensuing week. Same as above except much of audience still carrying some fatigue from original overextention. * This may repeat a few times or we go directly to next step. * Full length film. 90 minutes of something that couldn't adequately fill 5 minutes. * Sequel.
As a local HS coach, Coach Alan used his money to cover the jerseys xD. It's like that sometimes. Jersey rep wants 5 grand but only 3 kids brought their fee, I'm sure big schools don't have to worry about those things. Shit had me rolling cause its true !
I'm being very serious... I normally not super into Marcelo... but Marcelo screaming at the end about asking the parents about paying for the jerseys might be my favorite performance of his. I'm right! Look at Nate for proof! :)
Never heard of him before SNL. Checked out some of his stand-up and thought it was pretty lame, but he is hands-down one of the funniest guests they get. He really elevates SNL every time he's on the show. I kind've think this kind of thing is really his comedic sweet spot.
I knew a coach kind of like this in highs school .. it was half time in a soccer game and he was getting mad that nobody paid for their jerseys yet.. and that one of the players wrote the check to coach Martinez 😂😂
Part of this situation actually happened in the show FNL. Coach Taylor was in-charge of the East Dillon Lions (They even kept the Lions mascot and the red color scheme in the sketch) and paid for the new uniforms out of his own pocket. The big difference is, he didn’t ask for the money back. And $20 for a uniform is dirt cheap.
Their youngest male cast member this year is Emil Wakim (born March 11 of 1998). It was Marcello Hernandez last year (born August of 1997), but now he's second youngest. And Devon Walker is actually the oldest (born February 13, 1991). Longfellow is second oldest (January 31st, 1994). Andrew Dismukes is third oldest (I know he was born in 1995, but I don't know what month). So, yeah, we're getting a lot of 1990s born kids on this show (Bowen Yang and Sarah Sherman are 1990s born. No word on when Ashley Padilla and Jane Wickline were born, but I'm going to assume they're also 1990s babies), but we still have the 1980s born cast members, like Michael Che, Colin Jost, Mikey Day, Heidi Gardner, Ego Nwodim, Chloe Fineman, and James Austin Johnson. And the only 1970s-born cast member left is Kenan Thompson, the first SNL cast member to born after SNL premiered in 1975 (Thompson was born in 1978, when SNL was still doing great with the original cast).
Man, this halftime talk is like a bad Tinder date-lots of promises about pulling together and no one knows how to fill out a check. At this rate, the only thing getting scored tonight is Coach's Venmo
It was good that they didn’t stretch this one out too much. It was a perfect length honestly.
oh i completely agree
What every man wants to hear
Thats what she said
Are we not doing ‘Phrasing’ anymore?
I'm so relieved that you approve
There’s just nothing else like a Nate Bargatze delivery
He honestly deserves an Emmy for how deadpan and serious he's able to act throughout all these sketches.
You’re right, it’s all in the delivery.
He's great, after the last time he hosted I knew I was gonna wanna watch all of this one
“Did you graduate community college? You think you’re better than me?” - classic NB
True. He's good.
I love a short sketch it was super simple joke and it didnt need to any longer than it was.
Yeah. SNL doesn't have enough of those.
U guys have incredibly low standards hahah

"...and speaking of checks" 😂
I understood that reference
🤣😂🤣😂
"Oh Jesus Christ"
As a mom of a kid that played little league lol this was on point! 😂😂😂
😂😂😂
No one laughed at how the first player yelled out that they were going to write a check to coach Daniels 😂
Homie's got Blue Mountain State on his mind lol
That is youth sports, 100%
Nah, totally out of touch. 20$ for jerseys when it should be like $250😅
Total - Same thing for dance competitions
Heck, pretty much any extracurricular!
🤣🤣🤣🤣
Nate Bargatze's humor and delivery are hilarious. I absolutely must watch him every time he comes on.
Nate’s voice going higher at “8 weeks and you still have paid me”. 😂 Great delivery!
not Marcello's jersey on backwards lol
OMG, I hadn't noticed. LOL
Looks like it's on normal
Why do you think it's backwards? All of them have the number and lions in the front 🤔
@@Valeriamtzp Look at the neckline.
It's not backwards, it just fits poorly.
Nate spelling "Walsch" repeatedly after his monologue about his college "Speech" class O-I-L fail and the Washington's Dream Words sketch🤣🤣🤣🤣
he. says his name is walsch, but the kid at 2:06 calls him daniels.
Yeah who’s Coach Daniels!? 😂
Love Nate, he's good in any sketch!
0:14 What going on out there? Sir you have 8 players.
Football in smaller schools can be 6,8,9 person teams.
the rest of the guys didn't make the trip- flat out refused to pay for the jersey, so didn't make the bus
They got tired of coach asking them to chip in for gas
The other players wrote their checks out to coach Alan
Bidenomics has been tough on all of us. Only 8 players can afford an extra Twenty bucks.
This is one of the most relatable skits ever.
Perfect short skit right up Nates alley, i can get behind it.
The Friday Night Lights music 😅
FNL on SNL
HS soccer coach here - that was TOO REAL.
I’ve run programs for years. The struggle is real
And every single teacher involved in extracurriculars cheer at that amazing ending!
0:58 Nate’s look off 1:07 and delivery of “the jerzees” cracks me up 😂
“Hey coach, what’s your Venmo?” 😂
NATE BARGATZE IS THE BEST COMEDIAN TO COME ALONG IN YEARS!!!
As a local HS coach, Coach Alan used his money to cover the jerseys xD. It's like that sometimes. Jersey rep wants 5 grand but only 3 kids brought their fee, I'm sure big schools don't have to worry about those things. Shit had me rolling cause its true !
I knew nate bargatz wouldn't disappoint us this was a fun episode cant wait to see him host again All hit no miss.
At 1:30 when he says Oh Jesus Christ it reminded me of Herb Welch.
The Friday Night Lights-style song playing in the background LOL perfect touch
The band (at least for FNL TV show trademark sound) was Explosions In The Sky
Hahaha Coach Daniels in the Coach Alan skit! Loved the mouthed "SHIT" right after 🤣
Yeah, where’d that come from? 😂
They were dangerously close to having a second joke in the sketch right there 😂 Thank goodness it was an accident
Wish Alan would’ve been like “GUYS! Who tf is Coach Daniel’s?! It’s Walsch, with a C!”
😂 yeah who is that😂
Loool
Speaking for parent support fundraising groups, this kind of enthusiasm hits. 😊
Man. Nate is so funny.
Fastest I’ve seen anyone pay a school fee
Nate Bargatze is the best guest on SNL in 15 years.
dismukes "Oh jesus christ " killed me.
I love how even though the coach is spelling out his last name the closed captioning is still wrong lol
this entire set and all the costumes for a 2.5 min sketch 😯
All goes in the landfill after
Rentals @@FuzzSquatch
"Hey coach, what's your venmo?"
Their is a cost
Needs Will Forte dancing to Herb Alpert & the Tijuana Brass
This guy was the best thing to happen to snl in forever. It was really going down hill super fast, this dude saved their ass!
Who
He knows as much about Venmo as he does about raspberries.
Underrated comment 😂😂😂
You mean, the bowl?
I just have cash check or charity option
I'm being very serious... I normally not super into Marcelo... but Marcelo screaming at the end about asking the parents about paying for the jerseys might be my favorite performance of his. I'm right! Look at Nate for proof! :)
This is great. Love it.
The extras did great at the end there!
I wasnt looking forward to this episode, but I am pleasantly surprised
Nate almost broke at the end there lmfaoooo
Gillis had some amazing sketches but I gotta say I think this week with Nate is the best I’ve seen since I was a kid.
Marcello in football gear has unlocked something in me
I saw a TikTok of him speaking Spanish at a baseball game. That did it for me.
@@DavidKen878 Oh, yeah, same, anytime he speaks Spanish lol.
And that one scene last season where he was in the super short-shorts
@@markalexander3659 Wait, what scene lol
@@DavidKen878 I can't remember the name of the scene but it's from S49E12 (the Shane Gillis episode)
@@markalexander3659 I found it. Naturally it's the one with over 6 mil views lol
Short and sweet.
I love me some SNL
Like dang don't call me out i gotta make payments 3 kids at 20 each bro 😂😂😂😂
on a side note; if you want to learn how to hush Mildred, then please reference the skit "Check"
This is the type of skit they usually stretch to six minutes and kill it. Im impressed.
Coach Alan is such an inspiration
Never heard of him before SNL. Checked out some of his stand-up and thought it was pretty lame, but he is hands-down one of the funniest guests they get. He really elevates SNL every time he's on the show. I kind've think this kind of thing is really his comedic sweet spot.
It would have been perfect to do a Ted Lasso skit with Bergatze as Coach Beard. Hell maybe Jason Sudeikis could have made a surprise appearance.
That was the most subtle yet the funniest breaking of character on SNL.
Bro they really had enough guys to fill up a 6u basketball roster
Glad they didn’t stretch this one out too much lol
I hope Nate becomes a serious regular
I knew a coach kind of like this in highs school .. it was half time in a soccer game and he was getting mad that nobody paid for their jerseys yet.. and that one of the players wrote the check to coach Martinez 😂😂
love nate
Best episode in a while
finally a hot arab man in the cast, this is the representation that we needed
Real teacher/coach problems 😂
I think snl needs more short sketches along with more hosts like Nate!
Part of this situation actually happened in the show FNL. The big difference is, he didn’t ask for the money back. And $20 for a uniform is dirt cheap.
😂 who wrote this!? So funny
This was great! Probably haven't laughed so hard since a Sandler and Chris Farley sketch.
You missed shane gillis and all thenalec baldwin trump bits then.
Coach Alan need's to be the new Head Coach. The things he said had me PUMPED UP.
That is unironically my high school at the beginning 0:01 😅
That smile at the end.
More sketches like this! Not all sketches need to be 5 minutes long 🎉
Definitely Accurate.
Ha I'm watching Nate's Tennessee kid stand up right now also..😂😂
The way the kids got hyped about paying for the jerseys brought it home lol
is there significance to the fact that Marco's jersey was on backwards? 🤣🤣
lol the Friday Night Lights music was even funnier
SNL definitely has a lot of younger men on cast recently
Their youngest male cast member this year is Emil Wakim (born March 11 of 1998). It was Marcello Hernandez last year (born August of 1997), but now he's second youngest. And Devon Walker is actually the oldest (born February 13, 1991). Longfellow is second oldest (January 31st, 1994). The FNL-style, Explosions-In-The-Sky-esque background music is perfect
Most heartwarming football story since Rudy.
“Speaking of checks…” 😂
A+ transition, does coach Alan Walsch also accept credit?
Marcello with the jersey on backwards 👀
Im 99% sure marcello's jersey is on backwards lol
5 weeks in and I still haven't paid my fantasy football fees... this skit is talkin to me
Greg Warren is requesting writing credit on this sketch.
I lost it when he pulled out the prop check 🤣
Nate is really growing in SNL.
This one was pretty good…
Close enough welcome back Coach Ted Lasso and Coach Nate
An important subject rarely addressed. Pay coach, guys!
I was distracted by the number of players that had their jersey's on backwards! LOL!
The real joke is 8 players isn't enough to play a single down of football.
A “fringle pass” 😂
Man, this halftime talk is like a bad Tinder date-lots of promises about pulling together and no one knows how to fill out a check. At this rate, the only thing getting scored tonight is Coach's Venmo
Having coached lil league I feel this
Tough to win with only 8 players...
Good one! I didn’t see that coming.
This is an all time sketch premise
Just one look at that roster tells me they were losing😆
The funniest part is that jerseys would be $20.
Just thought for 50 th season, they pull major stars, the 5 club members. Really Make it special.
