    In the books during an argument at Kaer Morhen Triss mentions how she won't ever be able to wear a plunging neckline again due to the scars she sustained at sudden, I believe that all of the Kaer Morhen witchers were present for this. My interpretation was that Lambert rememberers that conversation from the book and also remembers Triss and Geralt's past relationship from Witcher 1/2 and was trying be a prick to get a reaction from Yennifer.... Because you know, Lambert, Lambert, what a prick.

      Jávorszky Patrik In the game as well. In Witcher 1 there's a dialogue you can have with Lambert. Easy to miss though. after giving her the potion and sleeping with her, instead of going straight to the funeral, tell her there's some things you need to take care of then go find Lambert. Geralt asks why Lambert doesn't like Triss and he responds that she is too pretentious for his taste.

      @@HummingbirdSound No, it's an old practice of witches. attested to in some obscure historical sources. Witches would connect with the their gods (the church called them demons) by harvesting toxic plants; now these plants cause halucination, but are also very poisonous, so you need to filter out the halucinogenic substances, so that you won't ingest the poison and die. One way of doing this, is by making it into an ointment using boarfat, putting the ointment on a broomstick, and rubbing it against the walls of the vagina; this acts a natural filter and only the halucinogenic substance will enter the bloodstream. This causes the women to get high and to halucinate; which is where we get the idea of witched "flying" on a broomstick. This is what the image shows.

      Well, there is a theory out there that Thaler and Shani had a relationship going on for some time. So in that way Thaler might have gotten it while still upholding the gwent cards theory. Shani "got" Geralt through sleeping with him, which transferred over to Thaler (though there is no clear indication their relationship went past the initial stages of dating). Admittedly the timeline is messed up since the relationship was happening before Geralt came to Vizima in Witcher 1, though I believe Geralt had had way before Witcher 1 in the books, so it might still be alright if you include all that.

    Triss' insecurity makes her feel so much more human to me, especially when her rival is so much more experienced and confident. And I think Geralt understands that, because he's always trying to put her at ease, and I love that they wrote options for that because it makes their relationship so sweet. I think the devs did such an amazing job at portraying her character; she's idealistic and wants to do good, but she also has a soft heart and tries to compensate by keeping up appearances.

      Yeah game Triss is my favorite, through all the games even when she's manipulating Geralt in the first one, and hiding what she knows about the lodge in the second. She's just as 'strong' as Yen but in a different way, and she clearly really loves Geralt even if he doesn't love her back, rather than treating him as a bit of a booty call like Yen.

      The (very overrated) books make it clear that Yennefer plays in a completely different league from Triss in terms of power. And Triss knows that. Yennefer is respected even by arch mages but she stays a out of the elite club and it's politics. At least openly.
      Triss actually tells Geralt on a problem she can't solve to send for Yennefer. So it's pretty much lore.

  • @TheDezembro
    @TheDezembro 3 года назад +280

    I take Triss's seemingly "immaturity" as more of a MASSIVE insecurity, a more romantic/emotional personality type and a big weakness for the whole situation with Geralt and Yen, I don't think she ever had any doubt that once his memory came back, she would have no chance whatsoever at being with Geralt. And this forms situations such as:
    1- In the "rat contract" scene, she probably hoped he hadn't even met up with Yen yet... and that Triss would've been the first he sought out rather than Yen?
    2- Her more "romantic" side. Romantic people often seem more immature than for example Yen who is far more direct about what she wants. Like she says, she's too old to play the blushing bride.
    3- Probably due to this side of her, Triss also is more open to sharing how she feels rather than stoically hiding it to maintain a more firm and dominate presence. She doesn't mind being vulnerable around Geralt.
    4- Given this massive insecurity, it's almost like a fairy-tale type of thing if Geralt starts showing her love thru the story. It's like she's merrily surfing through clouds seeing Geralt pay HER attention when she believed she'd have no chance at all once his memory was restored and he found Yen again. Imagine being younger and your crush is crushing on you, basically xD
    Lastly, 5 - She's actually way younger than Yen and this alone also counts to what level of maturity Triss has. Despite not meaning that she IS immature, just younger and more springy.. and a romantic.
    I feel that this "how's yen? fi-- Nevermind. I got my answer" scene is more comparable to Yen finding red hair on that bed and tossing it out the window. Emotions running high.
    What feels immature is for example back at Kaer Morhen before the battle when Yen is all over Geralt and Triss, scoffing/interrupting them when they're just trying to have a moment. But honestly both of them can get pretty jealous of the other and do stupid shit.
    My main point here was just to not take those quirks of Triss' as simple basic immaturity. One of the things I love about her character is how realistic she feels in the sense that she is so damn insecure about everything. About her abilities as a mage, her abilities as a leader, her capability to do something meaningful like helping the mages flee, and of course about how much she means to Geralt, which of course is player-dependent.
    She's just a more sensitive and emotional person.

    Triss in the books is a very naive young sorceress. She's seen as a sister to Ciri unlike Yennifer who is a mother figure. So her relationship with Geralt is very much like stop seeing me as a young girl and more of a woman. She's constantly trying to prove her worth to Geralt any way she can. Her hesitation is that she knows how Geralt feels about Yennifer and had been hurt before but she can't stop herself. Also it's mentioned in the books Witchers give sorceress' kind of sparks when they touch so that's why Geralt and the other Witchers find themselves tied up with sorceresses.

      Well I always tend towards triss because she doesn't treat Geralt like crap. The Yen/Geralt romance is cute from a storytelling perspective but from a real-world-perspective it's textbook abusive behaviour and very one-sided. I guess the problem is that Yen doesn't treat *anyone* like an equal, much less her boyfriend. She's.....kind of an asshole.

    • @whitewolf7454
      @whitewolf7454 5 лет назад +21

      @TheHowlettJames Well she does while she’s in Kaer Morhen training Ciri, but Ciri is already well aware of Yen from Geralt, and already sees her as his woman. So if you go by a family dynamic, Ciri already considers Geralt the father, and Yen the mother as she is Geralt’s woman. Something she mentions right after Kaer Morhen when the travelling dwarves think Triss is his woman, and Ciri sets them straight.

    • @whitewolf7454
      @whitewolf7454 5 лет назад +59

      @redshirt49 Then you don’t know her at all, or him.
      They both treat the other like crap, because both had their personal issues that neither were willing/able to fix at the time. She was physically and emotionally abused by her parents, never had love, and then was trained as a sorceress which further stunted her emotional growth. So having love from Geralt, a home etc, she didn’t want to let it, and him, go. And he was abandoned and raised to be a killer, knew no love, had little to no social interaction, and had the ignorant common folk spout the unfeeling mutant nonsense. So having love, a home, having feelings and doubting said feelings, it scares him, so he ran from her. So they both treat the other bad at first. She was possessive, because of her scars. And he was unsettled, self loathing, and uncommitted because of his.
      While Geralt runs off without a word, that’s treating her bad. And while he’s off ploughing countless women, she’s looking out for him indirectly. He’s the one thinking he can just jump into bed with her after leaving her for 4yrs. Imagine leaving someone for that long, and then when you see them again, have the audacity to think you can just bed them. Or him sleeping with her best friend and asking for said best friends help first. Not saying Yen is a saint, as she’s not, she had her moments too, I’m just pointing out Geralt isn’t innocent.
      How does she not treat him like an equal? I’ve pointed out they were both equal in treating the other bad at times. They were both equal in thinking about the other when parted. Both equal in looking out for the other, albeit in different ways. Both equal in not wanting to impose on the other if they aren’t wanted. Both equal in risking it all for each other and/or Ciri. Yen can’t force him to do anything, and there’s been numerous examples of that.

    I think Trish’s behavior is explained by the fact we find her in a vulnerable state and also in the midst of a reckoning in her life. She and her friends are being hunted, and her lover has regained his memories and now knows he had a partner and daughter and Triss feels guilt and uncertainty about what that makes her to Geralt. It’s not impossible that Geralt or Yen would see her as untrustworthy. I think all of this explains Triss’s quite strange behavior and in my opinion seeing her emotions reflect all of these complicated things she is processing as she is trying to survive is quite fascinating.

    You have to remember that the guys at CDPR are huge fans of The Witcher books and there are A LOT of references to them throughout all three of the games. The 'scars of Sodden' is a good example. At the battle of Sodden Hill Triss was., for all intents and purposes, killed. She mentions in the saga that, though she was healed through magic, she was severely scared by the event. Interestingly this is not reflected in the game however through her model design in any of the games though they are clearly aware of it. There is clearly a limit to fidelity since she should be too scarred to wear a low neckline and that has never been the case in the games.
    As for Triss, Yennefer, and necromancy. (Back to the saga) Nenneke states that Yennefer is a good woman but has no scruples. There is no such statement about Triss so it is likely that Triss has decided that there are certain lines that shouldn't be crossed.
    In the question of Triss' apparent insecurity, this makes perfect sense. In the story 'The Last Wish' it is mentioned that girls become sorceresses because they have no other acceptable path in society often due to some physical deformity. Yennefer, for example, was a hunchback. Though, through the use of magic, a sorceress has become beautiful the effect of growing up ugly and being treated differently doesn't go away.

    Personally, I've always prefered Triss to Yen. That's not to say that I don't like Yen, I think she's awesome, and I can definitely see why people might prefer her, but Triss is just more my speed, I suppose.
    I honestly don't get the whole mentality that there's a right/wrong romance choice in the game. People like who they like, and that's that. You're not wrong for liking one of them, the other, neither of them, or both of them (even if that does backfire on you in the end) and I hope people are happy with whichever option they went through with.
    I've played through this game three times, and even when I'm determined to get through the Yen romance, I just can't help but go through with Triss's romance. It's just so... charming. For me, at least. Well, bias aside, this was a great video, and I look forward to combing through the others.

      I think it really depends on your life experiences. Yen very much reminded me of my abusive ex so I had an extreme dislike for her from almost minute one, so I think it's person to person, but that's the best part about RPG's. You become the character and every person who plays it has a very personal experience with the game and even though we are all playing the same story, it still feels different to every person.

    • @cristicat5820
      @cristicat5820 5 лет назад +9

      Well said. A friend gave me the PC GotY version of the game a couple of years ago but I've only just recently started playing it, and in poking around various sites I've been genuinely surprised by how vitriolic the exchanges between 'Team Triss' and 'Team Yennefer' tend to be, as if choosing one instead of the other is some type of great moral failing that indicates a flaw either in character or intelligence, or both. I personally prefer Triss as a romance option however that is by no means a judgement against Yennefer as a character. She's a great character and I certainly understand why some prefer her and/or consider her the 'only choice' because of the book canon (even though I've not read them myself), and I respect that.
      And like @xcrstfallenstrx my choice was definitely influenced by my life experiences. Yen reminds me too much of my grandmother. Beautiful, elegant, and outwardly cold, she brooked no opposition to her decisions, opinions, or statements and drove my grandfather to an early grave. She had her moments, much as Yen does, when one could catch a glimpse of the real live human being underneath that steely façade but those moments are much too few and far between. But that is the beauty of the genre, and the strength of the storytelling in this game, that it can produce such visceral responses in those playing that influence our choices and therefore our game experience.

    • @xcrstfallenstrx
      @xcrstfallenstrx 5 лет назад +2

      @@cristicat5820 I too was surprised by the rather intense internet war because I was also late to the game, so to speak. While I haven't read the books either, to my understanding Geralt actually never professes his love for Yen in the books prior to them being bound by the Djinn, hence why the Yen quest plays out how it does in the game, but books or no, the characters are very alive in this game and when we see something in them that takes us to a negative place (as Yen did for me personally) it's very hard to side with them. Just like people who've been cheated on may have a hard time siding with or romancing Triss, but there have been very few games that have ever managed such an emotional response.

      Very good points, I'm not sure what to believe honestly.
      You mention in your first point that Lambert is very loyal to the protecting the last remaining Witchers. In Witcher 3, after your boat ride with him he goes on about how he hates being a Witcher due to his Dad if I'm not mistaken. So he might not care about Witcher's. He doesn't exactly spend his time being productive and doing jobs for Vesemir whilst he's gone to the mountains with Uma either, so he's not that desperate to assist them in that sense. He instead gets drunk, knowing that the Wild Hunt will be attacking within the near future. If he was that loyal he would work on defenses etc don't ya think? Eskel even said before they got drunk that they should work on the roof beams as Vesemir told them to.
      Second point, I just find it really odd how they'd randomly put a set of footsteps there if this is not the case. Like, what would be the point in adding this detail?
      I agree fully with the rest of what you say though.

      @@Oxygen97 Hard to tell why they bothered with the footprints. Maybe it might have been a part of some quest that was eventually cut from the game. This is just a quick possible explanation that comes to mind, but it seems more likely than that they put a clue into the game only to wonder if someone connects it with another clue they put into the third game 8 years later. They couldn't be sure at all that there will be a third game, so it's really a big stretch to think they would prepare easter eggs for it.
      Maybe it's just an extra detail. When they had someone putting paintings on the walls, pelts on the ground, books on the window ledge, why not add some footprints leading from ... let's say the bathtub to ... let's say the books on the window ledge? Also, ViciousFish posted some interesting observations on the forums:
      - The footprints go from the bath to the window, nowhere else.
      - The person either got out of the bath or stepped in the puddle around the bath, most likely the former.
      - The foot prints are small, much smaller than Geralts foot.
      - They are very close together. The person was walking very slowly. Not running or moving quickly. Like someone would walk knowing they have wet feet on a slippy floor, and they are in no rush. So I am pretty confident they were intended to have been made by Triss.

      I’ve said the same thing numerous times. I’ll list the reasons I think it’s untrue.
      1. Triss and Lambert dislike each other, have never had a nice conversation, or even an inkling of attraction for each other.
      2. Lambert has more than one friend lol. More than just his Witcher buds.
      3. The card theory is stupid, as you get Olgierd’s from Shani, Yen’s from inkeeper Stjepan, and Ciri’s from a Scoia’tael trader. Therefore it’s daft.
      4. They were all in different countries. Vesemir in Kaer Morhen, Eskel in Redania, Lambert in Kaedwen, and Triss and Geralt in Vizima.
      5. Why would he need to bolt out the window? He could of left once Triss left to scan for anomaly’s. Or after Geralt got back, as he was unconscious.
      6. The footprints belong to Triss most likely, considering she’s in a nightdress, and probably had a shower because she was filthy after collecting unconscious Geralt from a swamp.
      7. Triss is in love with Geralt, you can sleep with her or not in W1 prologue, but either way she gets upset about leaving you, and worries for your safety.
      8. Lambert is well aware Geralt loves Yen, not Triss, and doesn’t know if you sleep with Triss or not in the W1 prologue. So why on earth would he say he didn’t want to hurt a friend, when to his knowledge Geralt doesn’t even love Triss, and only thinks of her as a friend. Or even less than that considering his amnesia and him not knowing her at all.

    I doubt that Lambert slept with Triss.. In the books Triss hates Lambert because he always call her "Merigold" her last name, and triss hates it when he does it.. also Lambert knew about the scar of her chest because Triss burst it out when she was talking to Geralt in Kaer Morhen about the battle of soden hill. Lambert, Eskel, Cohen, CIri, and Vesimer hears it too... Triss never liked lambert she also once threatened lambert when he continues to call her Merigold

    The thing about Number 2 is that no matter what Geralt says, the point of the question was to find out if Geralt still has feelings for Yennefer, which he does because he's still under the effects of a Djnn's love spell, so that's why she always gets her answer without him stating it outright. Now depending on how you play, Geralt may either still love Yen after the spell is lifted but at the point the question is asked, he loves her, and she picks up on it, no matter the answer.

    • @whitewolf7454
      @whitewolf7454 5 лет назад +1

      @redshirt49 Except the Djinn and Geralt’s wish has, and never had, nothing to do with love. The Djinn wanted to kill Yen for trying to capture it, so Geralt wishing for love wouldn’t of saved her life. And let’s entertain that it was about love, if that’s the case, they’d of never parted, had fights, and would of stayed together all happy. The Djinn had no effect on their feelings, it was their time apart fixing their individual issues, and Ciri being in the mix, that helped them grow and be a family.
      That doesn’t really make sense, because if she knew Geralt did love Yen, why would she even bother asking the question to find out. Then act all upset.

    • @redshirt49
      @redshirt49 5 лет назад

      @@whitewolf7454 Hmm, couples that love each other deeply break up all the time. Love is not the only ingredient to make a relationship work well. If anything, Geralt and Yen are a terxtbook example of that. After all, several characters point out how screwed up their relationship is. And it's perfect really, the Djinn wishes for them to always end up together knowing that it will never really work out in the long run. Seems just like the sort of thing a Djinn would do.
      Women asking questions they know they answers to and then getting upset about getting the answer they knew they were going to get happens ALL the time.
      Not sure why they do it, but trust me this is totally normal behaviour.

    • @whitewolf7454
      @whitewolf7454 5 лет назад

      @redshirt49 You just glanced over the biggest point I made. If it had anything to do with love, feelings, even meeting up, then the Djinn could still kill her. Geralt can still love Yen even though she’s dead. And and he could still meet up at her grave or whatever. A dirty loophole. And yeah, love isn’t the only ingredient, but there’s nothing shown that suggests their choices are the Djinn’s work. They fixed their problems themselves, parted for years sometimes. So what did the Djinn really do? If it didn’t want them to truly be together, it failed. Both Geralt and Yen are intelligent, and if they had even an inkling of a warped wish, they’d of mentioned it. Yet neither do, ever.
      Yet her reaction is exactly the same regardless of your choice. And considering you’ve spent years with her, and she’s a canon romance in the games, she’d have no reason to doubt he’s of two minds. As although he regained his memories, he didn’t forget the one’s he had while he was suffering with amnesia.
      Oh and about people chiming in on their relationship, only Geralt, Yen, Ciri, Dandelion, and Triss know how it really is. And none of them say or claim it’s screwed up. The other sorceress’s, sorcerers, anyone else, just hear things or assume things. But their relationship wasn’t great at first, because both had their personal issues that they weren’t willing/able to fix at the time. Her abuse, no love, further emotional stunted growth as a sorceress. And him with his no love, raised to be a killer, no social interaction, and told he has no feelings. So they clashed because of these things, not because of a Djinn.

    The implications for the soldier statuette quest are crazy. According to the soldier he was supposed to get the right flank of Nilfgaard's forces to attack the Northern shield barers but that never happened and gave the North the edge in battle. So whether on purpose or by accident compressing that soldier messenger means Lytta Neyd won the battle of sodden for the North and paid for it quite gruesomely with her life.

    Really disagree with the rats conversation thing... Yen behaves even worse and more immature than Triss if you romance Triss.
    The Kaer Morhen scene after u find Ciri is the most awkward thing in the game... The way she asks if they want a moment alone making them uncomfortable.. Then lingering there just staring at them and then interrupting them? Triss does nothing like that. In fact in the same scene she just walks away and leaves them be.

    • @zelamorre1126

      Yennefer acts more immature in the game in general. Refusing to talk about relationship issues, destroying Geralt's possessions in a temper tantrum, and withholding information in order to get her way in all her major quests - and that's even if you romance her. I think it's just a thing that's taken hold over time. Yen has more fans (mostly because the game has a lot more of her and the game hard sells her even when not on screen. They'd be more even if not.). And with loving a character comes this idea that they have to be perfect and you need to defend them as better in all ways. So even though Yennefer is much more immature throughout the game, the fanon around her behavior is that she's very mature and solicitous while Triss is immature.

      @Zela Morre What are you talking about? She doesn’t talk about the relationship, because they were good the last time they were together, and now it’s complicated, but there’s more important things to do, like find their daughter who is getting hunted by powerful world conquering elves who aren’t taking breaks to talk about relationships.
      What of Geralt’s does she destroy? Only thing i can think of is the bed. And that’s not Geralt’s, it’s Kaer Morhen’s. Or Vesemir’s. And she chucks it out because she doesn’t want to sleep on said bed when it’s not only covered in Triss’s hair, her earring, but it’s also a constant reminder that the love of her life was ploughing her best friend for 2yrs.
      She doesn’t withhold everything in the main quests. The mask she tells you that’s what they are there to steal. The garden she tells you she plans on using necromancy. And for Uma, she tells you pretty much once you’ve arrived. But yeah she does withhold stuff, and I’ll explain why. You can understand my point, or just think I’m a fanboy or whatever, but either way it’s what I think.
      She withholds certain information, like what she plans on doing with the mask, what will happen to the garden, or why she’s got the Witchers to do a certain task, all for a reason. She lives in a world that hates mages, and is actively hunted, and people don’t trust her, even though she’s never given anyone a reason not to, especially if it concerns Ciri. So she knew if she told Geralt what the mask could cause, he’d delay, or try and do something else, which would cause Ciri’s death. She didn’t tell him about the garden for the same reason. And didn’t tell the Witchers about the trials, once again for the same reason. Geralt protested the mask, and the garden, and the Witchers flipped about the trials, and she knew all this. You can’t just change an established character to act completely different, for instance making Batman kill someone. Geralt’s character is noble, and wouldn’t want to risk the mask, garden, or trials. She even points it out. Every single one of Yen’s plans were essential in finding Ciri. Geralt had no plans, the Witchers didn’t, only her. The mask, the garden, the trials, the lodge, all Yen. If she told everyone her plans, they’d get delayed or ruined entirely. And not only would Ciri be dead, the whole world would of been invaded and conquered by the Wild Hunt. Would you discuss why you need to cut this wire on a bomb that’s counting down, as you know what to do, to a person who knows nothing about it? Or would you just get to business and do it? The analogy is similar as the bomb needs to be disarmed fast or its over, and Ciri needs to be found fast, or its over.

Or they could do what so many companies like Square are doing and “remaster” or “remake” the original games, sell that to get many caught up fully(plus playing in current or next gen graphics would be excellent), then use all that $ to give us a great Witcher 4 game.
      Either way, I’ll always have my books and games, plus the show really isn’t that bad of an adaptation except for a few things that just drive me nuts. I just try to forget about the books and games when things like Ciri, her timeline, and about 4-5 other things come up.
      Other than that (of course Ciri is sort of central to everything), they seem to have kept the feel of the books & even games pretty well. Some scenes were almost exactly like the short stories. Having Cavill be a huge gamer and Witcher fan I think is what really makes it roll. I got her earring, but the closest save I have is after the main quest during B&W.
      Hoping that I can see her at the end and be like hey...umm I was dramatically holding onto this for you the whole time. Lol

      @@wes8723 Witcher 3 seems to be trying to rehabilitate her. She seems genuinely sorry for what she did to Geralt and also doesn't want anything to do with the Lodge if it is recreated. @@brettmiddleton7949 Really? I mean they definitely whitewashed her character in TW3 compared to previous games (and books), but is she like really sorry? When you first meet her in TW3, she is almost joking when she mentioned that she was one of those people who took advantage of Geralt's amnesia and when she hugs Ciri in Kear Morhen she looks at Geralt and Yennefer as she wants them both dead..
      This is one of those problems that I have with TW3 writing - the writers themselves said that they didn't understood Yenn's character from the books and why Geralt is with her and it shows .. they wrote every single bad thing about her character in the game, but not every good side to her .. why doesn't the game shows more of the mother/daughter relantionship between Yenn and Ciri? Why isn't there more scenes betweeen Geralt, Yenn and Ciri together? Why isn't it pretty much mentioned how Yennefer pretty much died of exhaustion when she was reviving Geralt from the death? How much Yenn cared about close friends around her? etc...
      Yeah, nothing of that but of course show how Triss cares about all the mages from the North and how she listens to everything and agrees with everything Geralt has to say ..
      They needed to show primary Yenn why she was so important for Geralt, because most people didn't know her when playing the game - they didn't read the books and at most some of them played the previous games, where she was only mentioned - and CD Projekt RED failed miserably in this aspect

      @@wes8723 I've definitely added the books to my reading list because I'd like to understand why Geralt would ever have been involved with her in the first place. TW3 seems to have really been pushing the player towards Triss rather than presenting Geralt with a difficult dilemma in choosing. Player support for one romance or the other apparently comes down to how much knowledge the players have about the characters from outside of TW3.

      I'd like to add to this that at the end of Witcher 2 Geralt gets his memory back and it's awkward with Triss when he brings it up. (Which is what leads to the split)
      Triss was always the girl who wanted him but Geralt always was in love with Yen. She took advantage of his amnesia to start the relationship and feels very insecure now that he remembers all.
      It's also very frosty with Yen on first meeting in Vizima if you ask why she didn't contact you. Geralt's reply that he lost his memory doesn't cut it and Yen only gets the answers she seeks to if Geralt truly loves her when the Djinn quest is complete.

I love Triss in the game but no so much in the book. Triss was only 30,40 years old at that time and Yen who at least a hundred years old, so it is naturally to feel Triss acting like young woman or sometime, immature school girl. I had to say even though they modified Triss a lot in the game, they still doing a fantastic job to able to make some changes but still somehow related to the book.

    xLetalis, at 15:51... with the Triss confidence thing. it's been an issue with Geralt and her from Game1. Geralt and Yennifer have had that 'Wish on a Genie' thing 'Linking their Fates' for a VERY long time! also, you can choose to romance BOTH Triss and the doctor lady in Witcher2. you remember the girl who shows up in the 'Heart of Stone' expansion pack, in Witcher3? she's your 'date' during the 'Be Possessed and Show the Dead Brother' a good time mission thread during the wedding. I think you're forgetting ALSO that Sorcerers/Sorceresses and Witchers have CRAZY long lifespans. I'm unsure exactly how old Geralt is in W3 but I do vaguely recall that he's over 50 years old and still in the prime of a Witcher's life.. Geralt (and other characters) mention more than once in W2 and W3 that "Witchers can live 200 or so years. But we usually die on the Path and not of old age." both Yen and Triss mention previous 'relationships' and even ... what's the blond sorceress' name... Kira Metz? the one that sends you to the cursed island to find the Sorcerer's notes... she mentions having a 'thing' for that Sorcerer in the past. also, Yen and Triss have been... well I guess frenemies is the best term... for a while BEFORE Geralt ever showed up. ;) never forget... we don't know EXACTLY how old Yen and Triss are so they may have issues from before having to compete over Geralt's affections. you have to pick and choose and look VERY hard inside W1-3 to figure out how old the Witchers and Magic users are because, quite frankly, the writers of this franchise have been NEARLY and I do mean NEARLY as inconsistent as the writers of the Assassin's Creed franchise. heh. :> yeah, I bet the novels would use dates and statements much clearer. like in the games Geralt's memory loss has been such a HUGE issue but, he mentions 'the battle of this or the battle of that' and 'this guy was king back then'. but of course Vezimir has the title of 'Oldest Witcher in the World' because he was around 'back in the day' when ALL the present day Wolf School Witchers were little boys and started their training.

    So here are a few things that don't make sense about Triss and Lambert: 1, as you said Lambert wasn't even in the city during the first game. 2, during the first game (when this probably took place) Grealt was not in a relationship with Triss, he only got into a relationship with her because he lost his memories..... he had just escaped the Wild Hunt and was in a relationship with Yennefer before that. 3, if they slept together before Grealt returned (obviously they had no idea he would return) then they had no reason to hide it from the other witchers. 4, if they did it after Grealt returned which is unlikely because she was already in love with Geralt.

And although they sleep in the bed in Geralt's master bedroom, upstairs in the guest room each will have a lovely gown on a rack ...not the same dress. (Sadly, when they sleep, they don't bother to change into nightclothes. Somehow I doubt Triss and more especially Yen would roll into bed at night in their street clothes. Would have liked it if they switched to some sort of nightgown...they're ladies in the bed of the love of their life...)

      awfulinternet I don’t believe it for these reasons.

    Nice video, thanks for that. But the clues pointing to the #1 detail are too weak:
    1) Triss' scars were a common knowledge among the witchers, so Lambert mentioning them isn't a clue for him seeing her naked. She talks about them in the first novel in front of Geralt, Vesemir, Eskel, Lambert, Coen and Ciri.
    2) Lambert talking about a friend and a lover is actually the only real clue in this theory, but too vague. A friend might be not only Geralt, but also Eskel, Coen, Aiden, Leo or even, least likely, Vesemir. Also the lover might be anyone. Triss might seem to be a likely candidate, but that's just a speculation, since the clues allegedly pointing to Triss are quite faint. Honestly, if we forget about the urge to connect Triss with Lambert, the mentioned friend could be Aiden rather than Geralt, since Lambert considered him to be a closer friend than Geralt. Lambert told Geralt: "We worked together a lot. Hands down the best man I'd ever met. I mean, I like you, you know that. Still, no comparison."
    3) winning a certain card from a certain person is seriously supposed to be a clue that he/she slept with the person on that card? So Yennefer slept with the innkeeper in Oxenfurt, Geralt slept with Thaler, Vesemir slept with Vimme Vivaldi, Zoltan slept with that scholar who was so eager to witness the war ... No, I really don't think so.
    4) the "social network confirmation" was later denied by Marcin from CDPR. He said it's "totally up to player's interpretation" and that the first part of the answer is the only part that counts, meaning the part "We wanted to leave some things for your speculation". Source: www.reddit.com/r/witcher/comments/7hydbe/from_the_witcher_official_facebook_page_maybe/dqw8qmv/
    5) the footprints in TW1 don't originate at the bed, but quite far from it. They lead towards the bed and then along the bed to the window (and also to the books on the window ledge, which might or might not be a coincidence). It seems that the visibility of the footprints depends on your camera angle, maybe also on graphics settings. A much longer trail of the footprints is visible in some other youtube videos:
    ruclips.net/video/1L3vcAF8m5g/видео.html
    (from Mr. Odd's Let's Play)
    ruclips.net/video/JXml56u8yXU/видео.html
    (from Gopher's Let's Play)
    Also, ViciousFish posted some interesting observations on the forums:
    - The footprints go from the bath to the window, nowhere else.
    - The person either got out of the bath or stepped in the puddle around the bath, most likely the former.
    - The foot prints are small, much smaller than Geralts foot.
    - They are very close together. The person was walking very slowly. Not running or moving quickly. Like someone would walk knowing they have wet feet on a slippy floor, and they are in no rush. So I am pretty confident they were intended to have been made by Triss.
    Source: forums.cdprojektred.com/index.php?threads/lamberts-secret-lover.55178/page-2#post-11490181
    Also, as some other people already pointed out, the theory just doesn't add up with what happens in TW1. Geralt first appears in Triss' house (in her bed), unconscious, after the fight with Azar Javed and the Professor. When he wakes up, the footprints are already there. Even if we assume that Lambert was there (which already is a mere speculation), he wouldn't have to jump from the window to spare the feelings of unconscious Geralt.

      @Ankush Thakur Idk Andrzej Sapkowski turn on the story sorry but in the video games Yen is very much portrayed as using Geralt to further her own means. On every point. To be honest I would like to read the books as I don't think Yens character gets portrayed or explained very well. Ive played all three games and Yens appearance is some what similar to Triss in the first game. I know I will probably get schooled on the original workings of Andrzej Sapkowski but I don't think many people would know his work so well with out the video games narrative to begin with. In the first game shani seems like a self-driven women wanting to aid in healing the wounded during a war. Not just trying to convince Geralt to do some crazy task for her to aid in her final goal. Its a self derived opinion with someone else's narrative on a story. If you would like to argue on witch marvel character would beat who it is the same semantics. It was always contextual. Everyone has an opinion.
