I wish he mentioned that the infected in this episode was a stalker which would explain why it took longer than expected to come out and attack.
But what makes no sense is Riley had been staying there for a while by herself. Why didn’t it attack before?

@@renx81 yea but if she’s turning on the electricity, playing video games. Playing music. You know things she might do bored by herself in a big mall as a kid, you’d think the stalker would of heard it.
@@JBurnz001 I'm not saying she didn't make any noise by herself, I'm just saying that they were almost certainly being louder than that together. There was clearly a threshold of loudness that needed to be reached in order to awaken the infected.
In any case, just try to have some suspension of disbelief, will you? You will enjoy the shows and films you watch a lot more that way.
I didn’t play the dlc but Ellie said everyone she cares for leaves or dies, so when Riley said she would stay it pretty much cemented that she was going to die
I love it when Achara pushes back on the curmudgeon-ness of Jaby.
I think we're definitely gonna see that connection between Marlene and Ellie's mom in the very last episode.
Achara at 40:25, exactly!!! It'd crush me, but I would do it again too! Among all the stories shown in the show so far, IMO Bill and Frank's was the most impactful. And I think it was the best ending to that episode, to bring so much more to the character of Bill, it made him so much more human than it would have been to see a grumpy violent man who is just pissed with everything that transpires around him generally and with Frank. As much as I would have loved to see Nick Offerman in more episodes, I think it brought a lot more respect and familiarity to Bill as an important character, I'd imagine even more so, for those who have played the game and are familiar with him from an entirely different perspective
How was it the most impactful? It really added nothing to overall story. Nothing about that episode will matter when it’s all said and done. What about suicide makes him more human? I’d argue most humans wouldn’t think of that. They would continue on and live with and honor the memory of their loved one. If anything the episode almost glorified suicide as a way of dealing with the death of a loved one and let me just say that’s a no for me. Like Jaby said, they could of had him being a grumpy old man as you called him because he lost the love of his life. That way he could have added more to Joel and Ellie’s story.

As for the photo booth reference, children first learn about the concept of time in 1st grade, such as "an hour later," and they comprehend the days of the week and months of the year.
Then the thing about amputation, it's seen on a bunch of survivors in the Boston QZ of episode 1.
Bill (in the show) lived a full life already, and knowing Frank was tired of suffering, and no longer wanting to be a burden, Bill accepted the fact that he fulfilled his "purpose" and prompted his decision to end his life at the same time.
Loved this episode because of the choice factor. We are the choices we make.

They removed the intro to the bloater from Bill's town to make its introduction in episode 5 way more impactful.
Bill and Frank's story is also heavily important to the central theme of the story. Which we don't get at all from the games version. The games version literally offers us SO LITTLE with Bill. It just shows us a paranoid loner and a bunch of action.
Bill in the game is insanely bitter and miserable, leaving us with Jackson as really the only happy time in the game, and it's not really that happy cause we don't actually go to the community in the game. There needs to be a little more balance in film/tv.
There's absolutely no point in keeping Bill alive at the end of the episode. The only useful part of the story Bill had to offer in the game was fully included in the show while every single aspect of Bill was massively improved upon in the show.
Bill and Frank in the show gives the audience hope.
Bill in the game gives us none.
I liked the story of bill and Frank more than Ellie and Riley in this episode😅

Just reading briefly The Last of Us wiki about Bill, I kind of find it hard to imagine what Bill would contribute had he stayed alive after Frank or followed the game. Sure, there are some interactions they do have, but ultimately, the game never brings him up in person again. So why have them interact if everything can be done more beautifully and meaningfully, and keep them separate, which leads to the same end-state?
I disagree with ScreenCrush about the meaning of the 5 wonders. I think it is simply about Time and how we experience it. Fast and slow, circular like the day to night, then frozen moments, repeating actions again and again, then death you have to go back and face like Ellie did.

Yes MK 5 (Wasnt called that) was out but it was 2003 when the world ended in this universe and it would stand to reason that MKII would of still been an incredibly popular Arcade game for Arcade establishments.
I think Jaby is taking certain words too literal. No one in school is actively thinking of recording their lives with pictures, but it just so happens that an abundance of recordings of our lives (for the average person that's not going to be a youtuber or tiktoker or celebrity) is from our time in school, Highschool/College.

After an hour of being in bed not sleeping I decided to comment. I had to stop the video early and take back my like because I found your take pretty disturbing Jabby. Achara, I’m with you.
To me, you’re either promoting going back to the toxic, controlling relationship from the game just so you can see Bill and Ellie bicker. OR you’re suggesting that Bill, a character we saw grow, and learn to compromise, and change, should regress into something hollow and toxic after living a full life. So far this is the only story that hasn’t been cruel. (Well, except for us who died a little inside at the beauty)
You end the chapter of the game with a truck. You end the episode with a truck. I don’t understand what could have been added to story by having him live. To have him live on feels walking dead trauma porn and it honestly makes me sad that you’d trade the beautiful story of love and living for Bill to go back to a shell of himself.
Nostalgia is just such a powerful force I guess. I always knew some fans of the games would inevitably get stuck on the silliest changes this adaptation made because they didn't get to see their favorite parts from the game or whatever. At the end of the day, it's just entitlement.
@@renx81 thx for the support. I get that it’s a fan fav part of the game. That can be hard to look past. I guess some haven’t heard the show runners particularly Craig Mazin, talk about how it’s not a zombie show. I think there’s a lot of game and non gamer folks that were expecting a high octane thrill ride type of show but that’s not what this is. I know the game but haven’t played it so I’m not as attached. Plus I’ve seen the high octane thrill ride zombie show before. This show is more quiet and powerful. I do get why some people can’t see past the game. I’m just astonished that people can’t enjoy the slices of PA life being presented. I like the game because I love good story telling. I love the show because it’s f$&king amazing story telling.

I do not miss the old days of games. I grew up with nes, snes, 64, ps1, and ps2.......and I don't miss it. Modern gaming is so much better in every way. Idc about updates or dlc. 🤷♂️

Are action scenes more expensive to film? I feel they're saving it for Season 2 when Ellie goes John Wick, hunting down Abby and her friends.

Love this episode and backstory for Ellie and Riley. This episode should be retitled to "b*tches get stitches" for the bully bethany in the beginning and for Joel who needs to get the F*** up and continue to fight!!!

Wait wait wait… the game says that Riley “succumbed to her injuries”, but ScreenCrush says Ellie ended things. So how is Ellie, who’s 14, not emotionally wrecked after doing that to her first love and one of the only humans she’s formed a bond with? She meets Joel what… two/three weeks after this and she’s fine? C’mon show, I don’t buy that for a second (Henry demonstrated what you’d go through after such an act)
she's not really fine you can see how she's get a lot more angrier than she was before the mall you can even sww when the girl who put Ellie's Walkman away said about her "best friend" isn't there to protect her anymore and that triggered Eliie to punch her that give "15 stitch" on her face
In Episode four, where Ellie offhandedly tells Joel that she’s shot someone before, she’s playing around in front of a mirror… “pew pew” she says, posing with the gun. That’s not someone torn up about recently shooting their first love.
@@michael1326 that's probably the first time when she have her weapon on her own and not get stripped out I assume that Marlene or Firefly stripped the pistol that she shot Riley after they found both of them and Riley's death does heavily affected on Ellie when Marlene directly asked her about "is Riley being terrorist too?" she get silent and didn't reply to her and when Joel asked about Ellie first time she shot someone she replied to him "I don't want to talk about it"
1. She is emotionally wrecked, there are many indications of that throughout the show. She is just hiding it under a tough exterior that would be normal in a post-apocalyptic scenario (you have to remember that she grew up in that world instead of a cushy one you and I are used to). 2. The fact that Henry killed himself after being forced to kill Sam is just one example of a reaction to extreme trauma. People are different and react differently to things.
She’s FOURTEEN in the show. You’re just making excuses for the plot-holes

after episode 3, every other episode is kinda blend honestlyyyy
7 episodes in and realized that 95% of the episodes are walking and talking, I don't know, maybe I expected have more action.
The action is the least memorable part of the TLOU games.
The excuse everybody gives for there being little to no zombies kills me. Let’s just be honest here, HBO didn’t give them the budget.
this episode give me nothing they really could make it flashback for 10 minutes and continue the rest of the episode with joel and Ellie and now there's is two important and excited story and I don't think two episodes enough especially the hospital story and I'm afraid they will not do it justice and they will cut all fight scenes like they did in the whole season.
Just wanted to come back to see if Jaby is still insufferable. I got my answer-a resounding yes. I bet I could guess his political leanings based on his not-subtle feelings on pop culture.
