Lots of experts in here on raising boys into men. I’m a 29 year father of two boys. My oldest is 5, I’m a veteran Army paratrooper, my son rides dirt bikes and played baseball and is 100% a typical 5 yo boy. I raise my sons to be prepared for this harsh world… all that being said I absolutely love this movie. I’ve watched it 3 times and cried each time.

This was a great movie about rejection. Especially with a little kid who like to play with Barbie dolls and he was a boy.

Its a double edged sword. I think its more about expressing individuality. Which some people will always look down on people who are extremely different but your not really you unless you can be yourself. But if you encourage a child to transition or something, whole different ball game. Definitely wrong.there are plenty of women who are more masculine, there are plenty of men who are more feminine. They recognize which gender they are just go with it as far as WHO they are. Support individuality, AND finding yourself at she appropriate times for the thing. Dont support big changes.

Sadly this is very common. Boys and men who don’t fully fit traditional definitions of masculinity are often subjected to derision, ridicule and bullying. It’s yet another instance of systemic sexism, and one that hasn’t really been addressed on a broad scale. And these boys and men often suffer in silence as they get very little support, even from those who’re supposed to be their allies, and their perpetrators often get away with no consequences.
