It will take time to work out because other player contracts must be considered if they want to keep them but I think based on your premise this will get done ahead of the draft which they must free up cap to pay them as well...

It’s obvious. Jerry is willing to tank this season to justify him not extending Dak. He is absolutely NOT trying to put any pieces around him to succeed this year and hopes his season is bad. You can't name a QB that had that much college experience and have been successful in the NFL. Most every QB thar lasts in this league has extensive college careers. The 49ers took a shot with his physical attributes and quickly got rid of him for a QB that had 3 years of experience in the Big10. And who told you he's progressing??? He can't win the backup position over Rush. If he was progressing as you say Lance wouldn't have a dedicated trainer assigned to him. He's a HUGE project and would be a disaster on a team that's not even built to win.
