This guy is quickly becoming one of my favourite smash RUclipsrs. Just found him a few days ago but his commentary style, editing, and gameplay are all amazing
Just for the record, I was not mad at all about the outcome of the tournament, I just thought it was pretty fun and a good experience! ALSO this gave me the opportunity for a great video EDIT: And sorry for butchering names while recording this video
this guy is the reason im gonna start playing professionally, because I have played for years, but casually. So now im gonna start practicing more and maybe become a pro.
Yeah that seems really odd. I wonder why they don’t just give you the full points if someone DQs.. I know you didn’t technically play the games but this negatively affects you for something you had no control over.
Technically speaking, giving the full 5 for a DQ would be unfair in the other direction. He should have gotten 4 points, since that's the least amount a winner can walk away with in a best of 3 situation. Just an illustration of how a Swiss bracket exists only to save time but is otherwise the worst type of tournament system.
@@SerenadeURA I must be misunderstanding how these points are distributed then. I thought it was 3 for winning a set and 1 point per game won, so best of 3 would be 2 games won and the set win, so 2 + 3.
@@jakec3172 That is the correct way - I think Serenade is just saying they should have given Sil one of those game wins (even though it was never played, but almost as a courtesy) Maybe they could implement some sort of DQ penalty, or it's just the risk we take if someone DQ's. Sil definitely has it in him to take the W
@@jakec3172 You're correct and I'm the one in the wrong here with faulty mathematics/faulty logic, your choice of which. A set winner would always walk away with the full 5 points, not reduced by amount of games lost - I was thinking about the way that round robin works in which two players with equal set wins would have to be factored against one another by game wins and managed to translate that into "losing a game means you lose a point" In this case it would be absolutely more justified to give the full 5 to a player who wins via DQ.
Your commentary is really helpful on these games - it's like watching a chess grandmaster work because you are thinking steps ahead of the gameplay and adapting. Keep these vids up the subs will come!
This was great! I love seeing skilled players compete in Smash! It actually helps to see (and hear) how a skilled player analyzes the opponents and reacts accordingly. I feel like I gained a bit of secondhand knowledge which can be helpful as I am pretty casual Smash player, but still enjoy playing online and giving it my best. It is a real shame that something beyond your control like a DQ hurt you in this tournament. Well done for still making it far, though! That last match with the Robin player was incredibly intense! 7:49 I actually thought my video froze here for a second. 😅
Hearing Sil talk about the minute details of his set is so interesting. I think i would love to learn more tech talk from sillintor, something like what Poppt1 Used to do. Would be nice to pick the mind of a good player
I would have awarded full points. If you're there, but your opponent is not, they forfeit their matches. Not just the set, the games in the set, of which, two are required to win to get full points. I know I'm over explaining it, but my point is this; by winning the set by DQ, that means you won two games by DQ. The fact they didn't give you full points because you didn't play the games is stupid.
im not sure if there was a case for it, but i would say considering you had a DQ, i would of asked the organizors if ether someone else had a DQ or not, or offer to help with a tie breaker to get a actual 5th game considering you not having a actual 5th does make the difference there.
I don’t understand, I thought it was just common knowledge for a DQ to award full points. If theoretically someone won all 5 sets through DQ, they’d be out of the tournament even though they won every set. That’s a huge oversight on the TO’s part. Glad they apparently fixed it
I would say in this tournament the benefit was to have a faster tournament and play 5 sets, no matter the outcome. In a double elimination bracket, players could potentially be out after 2 sets when going 0:2 In short: Every player gets to play at least 5 sets and receive more tournament experience through that. Also Round Robin pools would not have been managable, because of the pool size (about 30 players per pool), so the swiss bracket was a way to give beginner level players more tournament experience, while also maintaining a fast tournament. (Note that this tournament started at 9pm at night and ended at like midnight or 1am and always has over 100 players)

his best 5 characters are Link, bayonetta, ryu, ken and kazuya make sure u watch all of them
Know how you feel. Best Smash content out there.
That's why we're all here xD
I love the breakdowns of “I noticed my opponent did this so I decided to do this”. Seriously very insightful
He's like living in anime. He does so much thinking process in what in reality is just split seconds.

Plot Twist: Sillin asked the guy to get DQ'd for content, hahaha, amazing video as always ♥
Micro-ondé made me laugh
In a Swiss bracket you have to cheese stocks.
🙂
Is there a pun im missing or what?

Gameplay and playback commentary on point, I have fun and learn stuff with each of these videos. Thank you sil
Sillin I really like how you explain what you're looking for in your matches! I know you're not a coach but it's very helpful! Good run!

Sillin pronouncing "micro-ondes" is so sweet for a french viewer like me

I really love these tourney commentary videos. Great for insight, thanks Sillin!
lmao the meme at the end was the cherry on top for the video
amazing video! Haven't seen cool Link Play in a while.
I always click when I see you post link content(; so clean! Grats on 3rd at least, those were some really good games
Dbz loss to that robin really shows how equal in skill y’all are if you could ever get ahold of that robin y’all should play regularly with each other
the commentary gave me a lot of ideas how to work with my Link
keep it up king, love
Bronipooli
Ah yes. The Dairy Queen DQ. The ultimate strat where you go get some fast food instead of playing in a tourney.
love the commentary tourny runs!!
I love that use of bomerang to make them go to the center or baiting airdoge when the recover
fun fact, micro-onde means "microwave" in french and the e is silent
Really love link tournament video because we can see you against other really good players 😊 keep your great work!

Have you ever considered going to an offline regional or major? I'm curious on how you'd do
He would probably do well, but he is not really interested in offline tournaments anymore

A DQ like that should forfeit an extra game or involve a play in to earn back match points
Clouds face looks like a incredibly uncanny Mr incredible 💀
Yoshi dead at 86% before the hit is kinda nuts 7:06

There should be a clause for when a player doesn’t show up. Like, you should actually get max points.
Damn that Robin had sauce 👌
You looked almost professional here
Like, more focused and confident
the problem with the dbz kill is that always player 1 loses
That robin was super good bro
nice video, btw, micro-onde is a french word for microwave, which is pronounced "micro-ondd" x)
Wild turn of events!
watching this guy lets me learn the game
I lost to a dq player too lol it was a rob who showed up late
I can't imagine how dumb that would be if you lost just because of a dq
Me laughing when watching kurisu fight and lose against microwave gg your link is too op
How did the tournament go for you sillintor?
And also your link is so Legendary! 😁🙂🤩

Micro-Onde means "Micro-wave"
oh Micro-onde (the robin player) means Microwave in French 🥖
"micro honday". It's french for Microwave, you had the first part right "mi-cro" but the second part is pronounced "ond" [ondeuh], not [ondé] :)
sil u are the best!
I am swiss. I approve this video
Swiss bracket seems easy to cheat on. Make a few fake accounts and DQ so your opponents have less points, I don’t like it
Haha ggs
Wiw sillin u suck imagine losing to a Dq player:) (
