I started to build this raised garden bed on a steep slope back in April and its nearly finished now in late July. There are 5 levels of planting area with gravel paths and trellis's and a soon-to-be revamped pump house. I've used several brands of raised metal beds and attempted to fit them into my old-world, rustic style. See part 1 of the slope garden here: • Part 1 Building a Rust...
We'll be sowing some late summer seeds and building a VEGEGA raised bed as well.

I agree!
Totally agree.

Thank you so much 🤗 What can I say to such a lovely compliment!
Oh my!! You have been very busy! Your slope garden is absolutely beautiful. You’ve done such an amazing job of bringing that slope to life. We love the sounds of the animals and your new babies. You’ve done an amazing job especially during this heat. Thank you, for sharing your gardens with us. God bless and keep you and your family. 💜🌷
The heat slowed me way down, it's a good thing I started the project back in April.
That looks like a lot of work. I am glad you are almost finished with it. You are an incredible inspiration to many. Thank you for sharing. God bless you and yours.
What a wonderful garden accomplishment ❣️As always , you amaze me. Look forward always to seeing your plans come to fruition 🥰
I'm so jealous of your beautiful logs. I killed myself hauling some into my driveway and then my neighbor accidentally got rid of them😢. I just purchased a Russian comfrey. I hope mine comes out as healthy as yours.
This is such a great inspiration to anyone who's intimated by a big slope! 👏
Ouch! Hauling logs is a tough job, it's awful that you "lost" them!
Always such a good treat at the end of the day to see that you have a video for us. thank you, Jeri You are an inspiration
Wow! You have been busy! It looks amazing and you gave me some great ideas for planting in my backyard, which is all concrete, and in some other places in my front yard, as well. Your are a priceless gem and more valuable than rubies and gold. You are making that Proverbs 31 woman jealous!😉
Inch by inch and row by row,
I pray your garden grows.
God keep it safe below,
Till the rain comes tumbling down.
Inch by inch, row by row,
Jeri's garden's growing great, you know.
I wish I was there to sow,
To help her weed and eat that food!🌞🤣🦋🙌
I am sorry I butchered that song but I always sing it when I'm planting seed and watering it in and waiting for my crops to come up. So, I sang a "revised" version for you and your garden, too!
You have really transformed that slope into something that not only looks like you live there, but, is beautiful and productive! It will free up the potagier (sp) to be transformed. Maybe that can be a project for the fall or winter after you're done harvesting and putting up all your bounty!
The geese and ducks and babies are so cute! I love your pond. Water makes a piece of land so much nicer.
The pyr pups are growing up fast! They are learning and hopefully, not too painfully! That snapping turtle looked pretty serious!
Lots of love and prayers for you, your husband and all the pet family at Hopalong Hollow. Thank you for all you do! I thank and praise God for blessing us with you! In Jesus name. Amen!
♥️🙂😋🙏🏻🙌🦋
Thankyou for that garden song! The pyrs are still in a chewing stage, they eat sticks, paper, books, shoes....but not snapping turtles.
Beautifully said.x🥰

Thanks so much for including all your critters...and those darling babies. 🥰Sigh. This entire video is a real treat for this lover of animals & gardens. I appreciate the time that went into the making of your slope garden...from the journal - to the building of it. ..the filming and editing. (When do you sleep?) The entire plan has come together so nicely, including the little pump house as a quaint accent. You and James are a gifted team. GOD blesses hard work. May GOD continue to richly bless you and... multiple the "fruit" of your labors. Sincere love In Christ from a "sister" who appreciates you!
God is good 🙏🏼
Beautifully said.

Thank you Sister! I come from a family of hard workers; work is a beautiful thing. I've always loved that little red pump-house, and it seemed so lonely up on the hill all alone. I am looking forward to doing some good fix-up work on the interior and the door.
Your new slope garden is absolutely beautiful! Everything you touch is lovely! I hope you get many vegetables and very few bugs from your garden! 🥦 🥕 🥗
Oh Jeri, So beautiful! You are my gardening hero! 😃💗🧡💛💚💙💜
Always a joy. I am not even attempting to plan anything just now for fall growing, just dreaming. Our temperatures are hitting 100 and next week will be 105 all week long. Along with the humidity, it is and will be most miserable. In spite of, I am looking for the silver linings every day. In Joy
I've had to do a lot of my work between 6 and 8:30 in the evening. We've got cooler temps today, thank goodness.
I so needed this! Thank you for sharing your beautiful garden, garden plans and animals!
You just continue to amaze me. My mother's vegetable garden was on a slope. It always did well. Love all the critters, especially the ducklings.
I have plans for a fall garden...mainly flowers and shrubs. I'm planning now and will begin gathering. You've inspired me to plan with years in mind as it grows into being what it can be.😊
What an undertaking!!! I can't imagine creating this garden let alone having to encorporate protection from the critters! I was tickled to see your raised metal beds! We have horrible clay soil that makes planting in the ground impossible. I have had raised beds that I filled with a foot of soil, but bending over is becoming increasingly difficult. This year we ventured out to buy 3 raised metal beds and were prepared to pay the price for 3 water troughs. My husband came out of the store with a huge smile on his face and announced that they had discounted them by 2/3!!! Watching you set up your beds reminded me of the process I went through with mine!!! What a great way to get rid of a bunch of dead nursery plants and other debris! I probably packed too much in mine, but in the three I planted peppers and apinach, carrots and parsnips, and beans and beets! Everything grew great!!! How nice to have it waist high! Best wishes on your wonderful new garden! It is truly an amazing accomplishment! P.S. I can't tell you how many times I have gone back to watch the videos of your green house project! It is beautiful!!!
Well you have been really busy Jeri! I absolutely love what you did with this project and the great variety of flowers and vegetables and it just looks really organic that just goes great with your home and the rest of your property. The trellis is beautiful, and will really look great when all grown in. I remember when those mice got into your seed vault hut 😮. The name of the decoy plant, was that Amaranthus? I am happy to report that the flowers this year have brought in many honeybees🐝 which is a great sign that they are coming back. Great job !
God Bless……Brian
The red plant is Amaranth, it grows easily from seed. The Zinnias growing in the metal washtub are from the seeds you sent me, looking good!
I need to build that trellis you've got your grapes on! It's wonderful! I wish I knew how you cut out that poison ivy without getting it on you! It seems all I have to do is look at it and I break out. It's a constant battle to keep out of my garden. It's the only thing I will actually use a weed killer spray on. I add some soap to the spray in hopes it sticks to the poison ivy long enough to do some damage. Your slope garden was a lot of work I'm sure, but so very well worth it! Glorious!
I got plenty of rashes, even with long sleeves and gloves. Those roots were huge and had to be dug out. The trellis is real easy to build!
You are the best gardener!
What a wonderful combination of rock, logs, the metal raised containers----it all came together so nicely!!! I love your grape arbor and will tuck that away in my dream list for a project (one day!!!) You are a force to be reckoned with all your energy!!!!
I had those logs for years, knew they would come in handy some day....
Your garden beds on the slope are beautiful ❣️ I had a late and slow start this year and have given myself some grace. You're such an inspiration. I did buy several varieties of sunflowers for next year and several lettuces for fall from another RUclipsr. All his seeds I've planted in past few years have done wonderful.
You can plant the sunflowers for several more weeks. Then keep the seeds from the plants for the next year.
I am a gardener & I love all your gardens too..They are so beautiful
Beautiful 🎉🎉❤❤
Love all the rustic and natural elements. Cute critters, and the box turtle is perfectly at home in the garden bed. When I was a child, I used to find them in my great-aunt's garden.
We had small painted turtles as pets when we were kids, believe it or not, you could purchase a painted turtle in the pet dept of the Drug Store called Woolworths.
I love the variety in garden style fusion you’ve got going there Jeri. Beautiful, beautiful end result to all your meticulous planning and hard work. I love all the critters you’ve got there as well. Seeing what you have accomplished, leaves me inspired and impatient for our growing season to start again. Blessings dear soul sister. (Your garden notebook is a lovely treasure.)🍃🌹🍃🥰👒
Elmiri, I like that you and I are in different seasons; when winter comes along we can still enjoy one anothers gardens and projects.
Absolutely wonderful Garden!!! You are so creative and prolific! Enjoyed watching your season of growing.
Jeri, I hope you had help placing the rocks. They look mighty heavy. Sending love & regards to you and your incomparable garden!
I use leverage and rolling.
@JeriLandersofHopalongHollow thank God for the gift of leverage.😂
Your slope garden is absolutely gorgeous! Thank you for the advice on what is a good time to plant going into August, since my zone is somewhat closer to yours! 👏👏
0:05 Aww! Amazing! That's soo cute! Welcome to the Jeri's fairytale world!❤
Love your garden and the pump house covered in trumpet Vine is so charming.
Thank you and all that inspires you for lending us your wisdom and energy… your videos have meant so much to me …
Love the new video ❤ im fighting a groundhog that seems to have made a den in my flower bed😡
Stinker!
My goodness your veg garden is looking really good. Love butternut squash as well. I like how you made a tier type garden I l think that’s awesome. Your whole garden is looking pretty spectacular. Thank you for sharing. Have a blessed week. 😊❤
Jeri, how I wish I lived near you. I would love to help you with those precious animals & your gardens. I am so hooked on watching all your videos. They make me long to be back home in Kentucky..
Hello Jeri
Your garden looks amazing and I love everything how you planted all the different varieties of gardens and I wish I could be there with you and help you, but watching all yours videos it feels like I’m there with you and I’m pretty sure I’m not the only one. You are a very talented, special and unique lady and we love you . Happy gardening 👩🌾🌷🌹🪻🌻
Thanks very much!
I love your videos . I grew up on a farm in Kentucky & I love ALL your animals.
Such a beautiful old time garden, balm for the soul
Hiya Jerri Thankyou for sharing. You busy 🐝. I always enjoy watching. Blessings luv Ontario Canada 🇨🇦🐝
What a beautiful garden plan! The hard work it must’ve taken is awe inspiring. QUESTION: Do you by chance have a link to the Companion Planting chart you have??? I’ve searched the best I can & cannot find one. Thank you again for sharing your beautiful garden.
Good question! Following for an answer. Thanks for asking it, I was wondering about that, myself!🌞🦋
I'll see if I can find the chart again..

Baby ducks are so sweet! thanks Jeri!
Amazing Jerri…your slope looks wonderful and who doesn’t have a slope if you live in Tennessee…lol!!! Wow you’ve done a tremendous amount of work and your ideas are so inspiring!!! I will be incorporating some into my garden 🪴 example…I just had the bottom fall right out of a metal bucket and zinnias to transplant Wella! And one more thing we had to remove an apple tree and guess what replaced it? My greenhouse!!! LOL So love your videos
Bravo on your greenhouse!
Everything is gorgeous!! Well done!
You’re amazing!
What a treat! I was so looking forward to seeing your slope pottage, and you didn’t disappoint me. Just gorgeous. I always love seeing the animals and gardens. Jerri, you could create a book similar to Edith Holden’s, “The Country Diary Of An Edwardian Lady”. I would definitely buy it.💚🌻
I have that charming book, it's a nice inspiration.
Yes, it’s unique.
Your slope garden is amazing! Jeri . I love watching gardens evolve and you work so hard. Well done 👏 x
You're amAzing Jeri! A slope garden... You've worked hard going up and down. The plan you show in the beginning of this video is a 'keepsake'... My Daughter has lots of yard (I don't know exactly how much) and she would like me to create a garden as she knows I love gardening. Being on a river bed the ground is all sand. You are such an Inspiration!!! Continued Blessings and may God keep you well and strong...
That would be a nice mother-daughter project.
It's so lovely!
Wow! Where do I begin??? You are a-maz-ing!🥇 Go vertical! Even the little turtle wants to check it out! 🐢 I love how you’ve taken those modern-type metal beds and “Jeri-fide” them! I can just imagine how wonderful the grape arbor will be when it climbs. I used to love crawling under and smelling the delicious scent of our grapes. All those farm babies are too cute! Watching your pup’s curiosity of the snapping turtle reminded me of my Golden’s first encounter with a crawfish…let’s just say her nose got a little too close!😆 Thank you for this wonderful channel! I don’t know how you get everything done in the twenty-four hours you’re given. Love it all sweet lady! 💐
I was surprised that the snapping turtle didn't pinch his nose!
You inspire me everytime I watch you! I could watch you everyday! I absolutely love looking at your garden❤🌻🌼🍀🍃
Hi Jeri. what a beautiful view of your farm. Just beautiful. I love to watch you come up with next. Tennessee is a beautiful state. You inspire me to do something different. Thank you.
Your garden is just lovely! I love all your animal friends. I struggle with poison ivy as well. In my neighborhood there's tons of poison ivy growing up people's dead trees and I don't think they know it's not "just a pretty vine." 😅
It is a pretty vine, too bad it's so mean.
Love your garden❤ you are one hard worker! I have been wondering what you’ve been doing this summer and it’s lots of work. Everything is beautiful and I love your rustic style! You’ve built a lovely world around your home🌻Thank you so much for sharing it with us! We are truly blessed to have you.
Thank you so much!
Jeri, I commend you! Please be careful on the ladder!
Beautiful

You live on a little slice of heaven, indeed! Thank you so much for sharing! You have inspired me to get out there and plant some seeds today! 😊
I’m just so excited to see this video!!!!
Looking great Jeri thank you for bringing us along x
You are an amazing, innovative and very hard-working woman! I find you videos so interesting and they inspire me to try new things. James is a very fortunate man! From Ontario Canada, thank you for sharing!
Trying new things often pays off in good ways.
I hope you haven't had the extremes that so much of the country has had this summer, it looks like it been a great summer there. Beautiful!
We've had some serious heat
You're always so busy making beautiful things! The slope garden is lovely! You're inspired me to work on my little slope, which I'd given up on and covered with Vinca and Pachysandra just to keep it from washing away.......that's going to change now! :)
Your slope could become an amazing garden.
Absolutely amazing! Well done! There are always ways to work around difficult terrain. You conquered the hill!!
Yes! Thank you!
What a beautiful job you did here, Jeri. As always! Good going, you!
Absolutely beautiful!
So lovely!🇨🇦💗

I love your slope garden, its so pretty! Great design and job!

it really does like to travel.
That’s a wonderful garden!!❤
What a great New Garden everything looks so wonderful planet on your slope best wishes and good luck on it all Jerry

You are not afraid to tackle the most daunting of projects! Great job, Jeri!!
Garden looks very productive. Lots of hard work.

WOW
so very beautiful. I love your garden tours, you inspire me. Thank You
I know how hard youve worked and there is always so much to do but the rewards are great. Blessings to you always
You are so inspiring 🪴 I absolutely love all of your ideas and enjoy watching your videos. You’ve done an amazing job on your gardens and greenhouse.😊
Thank you so much!
Interesting, love the tip of aramath in place of tomatoes left eaten free. Love your turtle friends!
I'm glad they avoided eating the best part of the plant.
@@JeriLandersofHopalongHollow indeed!!! Yikes
Lots of hard work. Looks so unique and inviting. Hope you get lots.
All your beautiful, very hard work looks amazing! How do you do it by yourself???
Persistence!
The new garden looks lovely. The whole of our garden is steeply sloped so I have had to terrace it. It certain;y keeps me fit walking up and down to maintain it
Same here, traveling up and down that hill is good exercise. I'd love to see your terraced garden in one of your videos.
Wonderful to see you & seeing how greatly useful space on a slope can be (& boy on uneven ground things are tough to level! Good job!)
I recently found some beautiful phlox at Lowes on the discount rack that I was able to work into a flower bed & added the rest in a flower bed I had been wanting to extend. After that I decided that was it for me. All I’m doing in August is watering & weeding. I’m tired of getting drippy wet & having to shower so often. Lol
luckily, August is usually the time to sit back and watch things grow; with the occasional weeding of course.
Paint the pump house door a pretty green color and maybe consider stain glass for the windows of the door. Maybe you could find some sort of stick on that resembles stain glass. A thought…😊 I just absolutely love your gardens!
That's the plan, I have the paint ready to go!
Im going out right now to do some thinking of how I can better my garden.! You are a true inspiration to me ! Thank you for all your videos! God Bless you !!!
You can do it!
It is so beautiful, Jeri! My lot is sloped on 3 sides of my house. It would be wonderful to look at gardens, trellises and stairs in those areas!! Your videos are so peaceful.
You can do it!
Wonderful project, I have a steep slope you've certainly inspired me, I've got a lot of unproductive fruit trees to remove first.
That removal will be well worth it in exchange for a slope garden.
What a wonderful beginning to this post. Wow, have your boys grown quickly. POISON IVY!!! My nemesis. It's not as big a problem where we now live, but where we used to live, it was a constant battle. I have always had to be very alert for it because I am very allergic to it. Killing the roots is the only sure fire way that I have found to eliminate it. I'm missing the donkeys. So sorry that they are gone. You amaze me with all that you have accomplished.
My donkeys aren't gone ...??? .
@@JeriLandersofHopalongHollow Oh good. I'm so used to seeing them there where your garden is now.
@@nadinemasteller1089 Oh! They weren't on this slope, they are behind the fence about 100 ft away from this garden.
Hello Jeri, your garden is endless 👍 Not sure if this is a crazy ?? But-do any of the turtles there bother the baby ducklings & the such ??? TFS !!!
Snapping turtles can be a problem, if they are large. But so far, all the ducklings are safe and growing bigger every day.
👍👍❤️❤️
You have probably heard of Greenstalks. Although they aren’t very attractive, they sure are useful for vertical gardening.
Beautiful as always Jeri. What a transformation! I love those unexpected and unplanned little places in the garden that evolve on their own. Do you bring your potted blueberries indoors during the winter? If not how do you protect them?
I've always left the blueberries outside in winter, our are very mild and the bushes do okay.
Love your slope garden! Did I see another pollinators hotel at the top of the slope? Another thing I would like to know is where in the world do you find all that energy!!
Yes, we have 2 bee hotels and one unoccupied beehive. I think my energy comes from the excitement of taking on a new project.
