Very helpful! I'm still getting the hang of wrapping, trying to see my siddur, not letting my taillit fall, and shooing the cats away from my tzitzit. 😂

It’s… a lot. Just wait until Sukkot when you throw a lulav and etrog in the mix 😅

Great video. I use the UK reform siddur. I've often wondered how different it is to USA one. As for tefillin, not yet. I got my first tallit at 46, am considering tallit katan at 55 and so plenty of time! Shabbat shalom from UK.

There is always plenty of time for growing in mitzvot at your own pace! Enjoy your tallit and tallit katan - may these mitzvot help you draw close to the Holy One! ❤️

This is really cool, I have that same Siddur just bought it this year it’s cool.
Just wondering what’s your advice for people who maybe scars/have a fear of putting on tefillin? Thanks Shalom.

Thank you for leaving your question and for being vulnerable. Tefillin as a practice can hit different folks differently.
Just a clarifying question: do you mean literal scars or metaphorical scars?
If you have a fear, is that because of external pressure/judgment/expectation or because of something deep inside of you? If it is external, find a way to practice this mitzvah privately and slowly. Perhaps start by holding the tefillin and looking at them; getting a feel for them. Eventually you can start by wearing them alone. Go gently with yourself; treat your soul kindness! Feel free to answer follow-up questions. Wishing you only blessings.

@@asmallsanctuary Hi, sorry for my bad spelling lol, I was manly talking about a fear, kinda glad I put fear as well, I meant the word scary or scares, before I got my first Tallit I had a worry that I may have been scared of it because of how closely related the objects were, luckily I am not scared of the Tallit. I love wearing my Tallitot. Hope this is a better reply. Shalom.

Hi, if it’s ok, could you do an in-depth video about Tefillin and describe what’s it like wearing them physically and spiritually, also what do you do when on the cycle? Thanks.
P.S. I am a women, don’t know if I mentioned somewhere but I seen your videos about the Tallit and they have made me more comfortable, wearing my Tallit even on the cycle. (I do wear it a bit differently though and also when I don’t have a bunch of energy or stamina to completely re-fold it.) shalom :)

God willing, I’ll do a more in-depth tefillin video in the future - there’s definitely more to be said about this mitzvah.
As regarding your cycle: you can totally wear tallit and tefillin (and touch/read from a Torah scroll) while on your period. It is a myth that you can’t. (In post-Temple Judaism, the menstrual laws only govern married intimate relations according to classical Halakhah). Feel free to wear these ritual items any time of the month with confidence and joy! Hope this helps!

I bought tefillin through the mail through a Kosher bookstore. I cannot size the knot in the back to fit my head. I have watched you tube videos on how to do this and still can not do it. The book stored I bought it from is owned by Orthodox people so they will not help me size it. I have had it for over a year and do not know who to ask to help me with this? I think it is a beautiful mitzvah.

Heather, can you point me towards the videos you have used? I could probably make a video to explain it but would like to see where the other videos have not worked for it. It’s a little hard to explain, but basically the knot is composed of interlocking parts; if you loosen one, you loosen the rest, step by step, and then you either push or pull the strap to tighten or loosen as necessary. Just let me know how I can help!
