Just finished rehabbing a 403. I worked and worked to figure this out. Felt defeated that I couldn’t finish getting the machine right without help! This is just the answer. Thank you a thousand times!
@naid, i’m trying to fully recover a 403A right now. The left center and right button is all out of whack. It’s seems to stay in position to the left and right but when I put it in the center position it’s very loose. It’s not even allowing the cams to do the right pattern so I don’t know if it’s all tied in together or not. Unfortunately, I can’t find a video that covers that specific problem for the 403A. Did you end up getting yours completely fixed?
Does this method work for a 500A. I’ve been working on my machine for days and now I’m finding that it’s not sitting in the center position as needed. I have cleaned and degreased extensively and I feel it’s an adjustment and I can’t wait to go to my machine to see if this will work on there. It looks like the same set up so I’m crossing my fingers.
I have a 403A that I am having trouble with the left center and right button. It’s just all out of whack up in there. It’s not working 100% and moving the needle as it should. Do you recall any issues with a 403A and that particular button? Thanks
There really isn't a front to back adjustment, what it could be is that your needle bar is turned a little so the needle is striking in the wrong spot. Since the 40x are mutli-needle the needle isn't centered on the bar so if the bar is turned the needle will move forwards and backwards.
@@davef2065 one more thing. I tried to add two needles to my European 401g and I was not able to fit both of them. How is the second needle inserted? Or maby European model does not support two needles.🤔
For the 403, there is an clear adjustment for forward and backward positioning of the needle. It is the silver collar (with a slit in the top) that is on the needle bar bracket. You would loosen 2 screws, then turn this eccentric ring, then tighten. If you need further details, please ask. 😊

Pardon my ignorance, but what do you mean using the eccentric is quicker? Lol I don’t know what the eccentric is.
How can anyone see what's being done???
