From Jeannie not knowing how to use bleach to Garcelle learning how to swim when her kids were born, we admit to being late bloomers in these areas!

I am so glad that Loni learnt how to do her own makeup - because the people/person who used to do it in earlier seasons used to leave her all ashy or strange looking. She looks gorgeous now 🥰

I learned how to do laundry in college. I didn’t know how so, I sat in the laundry room watched how other students did it by sorting, what they set the temps to, what they used, and then went to the store bought it and did it myself 🙈😂
That’s very common. I met so many people my first year of college who didn’t know how to do laundry, how to pull pans out of the oven, how to set up a WiFi router, etc

My mom refused to teach her kids how to do laundry and preferred to do it her self. I learned on my own my trail and error.Her reasoning for that was because it wasn't hard and when we move out we would figure it out. When my sister went off to college she called my mom and asked her how to do it.

@@MIMI232 if you don't have a large load you could throw your socks in with other clothes like jeans and tees it won't hurt. Just be careful when doing clothes that releases a lot of lint with clothes (fabric) that easily catches lint. For example if you wash a towel or sweater with a dry-fit material the lint will stick to the dry-fit
The chemistry of the three original ladies seems priceless and how amazing Garcelle interacts within that is Boss.

@@liapyt83 my aunt is the queen with bleach, her thing is bleach in a spray bottle, and spray the whites i think it's what help her keep it white and not yellow where it's just sitting in the water.

Im the only child and everything was done for me. After one of my parent died my family felt sorry for me and did everything for me even more. So simple things like sweeping, vacuuming, making bed, cooking, laundry, turning the channels on tv, etc I never learned how to do it until after I had my children and became single. So now that I mastered that I know I will be someone BEST future wife/mother and a awesome woman.
So your family would turn the TV channels for you? How old are you now?

Something I learned how to do late in life was drive. I didn’t learn how to drive, feel comfortable and confident with it, and actually get my driver’s license until I was 21. Whereas most of my friends ran to the DMV as soon as they turned 16.

I never thought of ballroom dancing as a basic thing. But she has a point. I have no idea how to dance with a partner. That's something we all could learn.
Jeez, and here I’ve been criticizing my parents about how emotionally neglected I’ve been in my teens, well now I’ve gotta thank my parents because I learned how to do all of those things mentioned here early in life. Including makeup, due to a summer camp course, paid for by my parents. Thanks Mom (rip) and Dad.

I kinda don't like how Loni looked at John Mayer crazy. It's always interesting to know what ppl don't kno how to do and why they didn't learn. We often think laziness or refusal to learn is the reason when really it's their upbringing, which is why I barely judge or side-eye. With John Mayer, he prolly didn't learn because he had others do it for him for so long he got used to it. Some to this day can't drive (Patti Labelle), cook, do math (Rick Ross), etc.

I JUST learned how to cook last year starting in November and I’m 30! My excuse is that my father would always cook and get it to me so I never had to worry about meals but when I recently moved to another state for work I had to think about what to eat for the first time. At first I kept ordering out but then I tried a subscription meal service and now I make all kinds of dishes and show them off to my father. He’s so proud 🥲.
Sometimes that’s just a reflection of privilege nothing bad nothing more just typically middle class--lower class- and black and brown folks do not have the advantage of sitting back and having it done. There’s also major differences between how certain communities allow their kids to slowly transition into adulthood vs the others.

Loni is so talented, smart and just an humble person. The fact that she does her own make up says alot. She can pay anyone but does it herself. I am also glad Garcelle is on this show to balance out the maturity and wisdom that Loni brings.. this show was about to me superficial even though it is called the Real. I love the new balance they have with Garcelle. Now I can watch it again

Now it's clear why Loni's makeup is soooo much better than in many episodes of pre-covid times! Also in my experience doing your own makeup will give the best results. And it saves money of paying a makeup artist. Only invest in a makeup artist if they actually do what you can't do for yourself.
If u look at those early season they did Loni wrong with her makeup... Foundation wasn't matching her neck at time... you could see the drastic color difference when she was baking... If you want something done right do it yourself.... and thats what she did
Facts! I remember when they were in studio before lockdown happened you would see a lot of comments about her make up artist doing her wrong. All of that changed during the pandemic, fans have been loving the way Loni does her make up

Jeannie, Oxi-Clean works amazingly for white clothes, and turn your clothes inside out if if has writing or appliques as it protects them.
I don’t know how to tie my shoe with the one loop. Bunny ears for life! I taught my son bunny ears as well.
To be honest I was cleaning up like a made at 6 years old, I can make a bed perfectly squared and cornered( a reason it’s done like that) but when I had my own child I did all of those chores and it was a disservice to my child, I had to show her those task at 19! I wanted her to enjoy childhood, but the good thing it’s never ever to late to learn.
I love how Adrienne just praises people like garcelle for her parenting styles & loni for her makeup stuff she seems so supportive I love that about her I like that.
Thought Adrienne would talk about just learning to drive a couple years ago.

I did bunny ears until my late 30s. One of my friends taught me the one loop and now that’s how I tie my shoes. I still don’t know how to use bleach like Jeannie on my clothes and I don’t know how to swim.

Not learning to swim on the islands like Garcelle said is like for my relatives from a couple generations in Sweden and also other European countries who were fishermen and sailors didn’t know how to swim!!! I was shocked when I heard that, it so sad how many lives must have been lost just because they couldn’t swim, had they known some might have made it and could have been pulled back at least on smaller fishing boats!

I remember being stunned by kids in college that didn’t know how to do laundry or even make a basic grilled cheese.
Laundry not everyone does their own, especially if there’s a washer and dryer in the home and the parents did it.
@@jazzyj904 Yeah… but it’s only the right thing to do to teach your kid some basic life skills before they go off on their own. It wears on their self esteem not ever learning. As you can see, people will judge them and they’ll have to end up learning the hard way when it could’ve been avoided.

My husband actually taught me how to do laundry when I was 17 😂 my mom and grandma always did mine so I really had no idea. And then same thing with cleaning supplies, all my mom ever made me do was the mirrors and windows in my room with windex & I would sweep my floors, besides that I was clueless so I’ve been doing that for 6 years now but I hate it & im lucky that my husband actually likes cleaning so I just take care of laundry and dishes and he does the rest 😂

I learned how to do laundry and every other household chore by helping my mother
What i do is wash my white clothes in cold water, no detergent or bleach first. This will remove the stains, then i wash in hot water, bleach & detergent this will brighten the whites. If you wash white clothes with hot water first, it will set the stain. Basically boiling the stain into the fabric.
I’m very very bad at making coffee 😅😓. I don’t drink coffee or tea. But once I made my mom try the horrendous coffee I made and she never allows me to touch the coffee powder since I made it. 😂
