Straight up tho!✊ Like hello? The whole point of the show is to educate our children on letters & numbers.. Older viewers should just shut their mouths and stop planting seeds in our kids and corrupting them before they themselves can figure out life and who they are. And this is me speaking as a kid growing up watching and as a mother today. 💯
speak for yourself. my gaydar went off immediately. they look suspect. but it didnt matter to me. let me add, the fact that my gaydar went off is proof the media has an impact on perception.
Sesame Street was an educational show. My children watched it and I never thought about anything else. As long as they were learning positive things. Also my kids did not think Bert and Ernie were people. Come on! ABC 123 thats all.
Who’s talking about sex we are talking about to characters being in a relationship not teaching kids about sex this is always something that annoys me why do we insist on viewing all of the lgbt+ community as just sexual but straight coupes as pure and wholesome and fit for children most kids shows have at least one heterosexual couple and it’s all good but make that couple 2 people of the same gander and suddenly were sexualising kids tv and making kids grow up too fast And we all know these shows teach more that abcs they teach about kindness and sharing and friendship
Non Ya kids are going to know about sexuality it’s almost 2020 what do you think kids are gonna do when little Timmy shows up with his 2 mums or what should they not be allowed to take their son to school in case they accidentally teach kids that people of the same gender get married just like anyone else can or should we get rid of almost every Disney movie because there’s a prince and a princess and they fall in love side that’s equally teaching kids about sexuality yall happy to teach kids about sexuality as long as it’s heterosexuality
I agree with Tamera and ideas can be exchanged in a less aggressive and confrontational way in order the allow the conversation to be more welcoming to the audience. Points of view are simply opinions. The host does not need to make it so uncomfortable. Tamera, hats off to you and great way of steering this conversation. The rest of the crew did great.
Are u stupid or just dense? All jeannie was saying is that there are kids of ALLL backgrounds and kids who grow up differently. They think theyre different for having a certain bond with a boy or girl of the same gender or an action figure or some shit. Jeannie even said that there are kids who grow up with 2 dads. So tamera spoke from her lil repuvlican household and jeannie talked about the relatiobship between people and how kids percieve that from her own perspective of a kid who grew up not knowing english. THERE. Does that make it clear for yall dense asses
There are things that as a child you didn’t pick up on , or don’t know but we live in 2018, just about 19. To say kids don’t know or discuss this topic like they do money or being poor or not popular that is why bullying exists !!!!
Jeannie was taking it too far. It's just puppets. I agree with Tamara, at that small age watching Bert and Ernie you aren't concern about their sexuality. Plus own creator said they have no sexuality. At the end of the day, it's up to the parents to teach their children. The show is a show.
I barely remember watching sesame Street. I think I just liked the cookie monster or the trash one. Or maybe I'm confusing charectors. I think I was watching eurekas castle more. Wever that was called. I think they came on at the same time.
Tannia Chan, Sincerely an EXO-L & AROHA ᄉ_ᄉ because you shouldn’t be concerned about the sexuality of adults! Over-sexualizing children is abuse! This is the downfall of society making children think like an adult, society doesn’t teach us everything let’s leave some things to the parents of children.
I agree with your statement 100% Candice! Tamera shouldn't have made that face because everyone is entitled to their opinion. But Jeannie was really over the top with her statement. These are children!
I agree with the points Tamera made... however I was not feeling her attitude. I think she was being very rude. Tamera gave her opinion first and when it was Jeanie’s turn, she was not willing to listen. That irritates me... if I allow you to speak, don’t try to interrupt and over talk me because you disagree. Despite your difference of opinion, respect should remain.
Yes and she low-key tried to attack Jeannies lack of having kids at first til Jeannie came back like umm bitch I was a kid when this show was on so my opinion counts lol. Idk. Tamera usually acts so holier than thou and detaches so much from her black side so I am not a fan and her attitude is ugly
I’m LGBTQ community I agree with Tamera. Sexual orientation is not relevant when you are learning how to read and identify colors in a fun way. I don’t like kids being sexualized in any way shape or form. You were not offensive at all I’m glad you said it
I agree with Jeannie. Those saying Bert and Ernie should not be gay because sexuality should be irrelevant to children, are by default arguing that the two characters should be assumed to be straight. We live and raise our children in a heteronormative society where they are bombarded with images of hetrosexual couples in cartoons and TV shows every day, but no one has a problem with children being made aware of them being straight- there would be no discussion on a TV show like The Real if two Sesame Street characters were a straight couple-WHY? because being straight is the norm. What a lot of you don't seem to understand is that Jeannie is not advocating for Bert and Ernie to be gay and for their sexuality to be the main focus of their relationship, constantly highlighted and shoved down children's throats. She is saying that exposing children to gay characters with positive traits and healthy, functional relationships would be beneficial to children who are born gay and would grow up feeling accepted and represented in mainstream media. @DaytimeTeaTime I find it hilarious that you actually used the argument that two popular cartoon characters are gay- both happen to be ridiculously camp devils who are both villains in their respective shows- what kind of message does this send out to a gay child growing up where the little representation they see of themselves in the shows they watch are both the enemy-and a devil no less? Who is to say they are gay any way, along with Tinky Winky- because they are flamboyant, wear makeup and handbags? This does not automatically equal gay and sends out an equally negative message to children by only portraying a stereotype.
Robertine Urey But what if it’s their parents? Ik that there weren’t relationships in sesame so not for this show. Steven Universe had a lot of gay couples.
Sorry, but I disagree with you. Kids know from a young age the concept of family and love between a daddy and a mommy. What's wrong with teaching them also other possibilities. No one said anything about sexuality.
Robertine Urey Jeannie Mai represents American Christianity which doesn't read, study, or obey the word of God, has no fear of God, only thinks it's cool to say that you're a Christian but have no relationship with HIM at all.
@@maesalgado1088 Cool. But I do know loads of childless people who actually do tell parents how to raise kids. So I'm still team Tamera cause as a parent you can't think for yourself like Jeannie was doing. Not saying that Jeannie was wrong or anything. But she was just speaking for herself as a child and what would have been good for her. Tamera was speaking for children in general being that she has much more experience with them.
Jeannie getting tired of them interrupting her. From the first season to now she always been interrupted . She sticking up for herself and I'm glad👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾
Jeannie ???? Sorry I agree with Tam. When your a child your not looking at their gender. In fact why can't Bert and Ernie be good friends? Why do they have to gay lovers?
Maybe not but at that stage of life youre already developing your sense if self. What boys and girls are supposed to do and who you are in that equation. If bert and ernie Are a couple it just reinforces that maybe its OK for boys to like other boys? Its not exactly being pushed down someones throat and that normalization is good for children to learn. There is no age to learn this stuff.
When you are a child you are looking at gender what are you talking about. As a child you are learning social cues and sexuality is apart of that. Children start developing sexual characteristics as early as ages 3 and 4. It’s important to show children what type of adult they can be and how to behave in the world. I’m not saying the puppets should be gay because they are just puppets and I think kids understand that but I am saying whatever they are children will learn that behavior and follow what they see in the world mixed with how they feel personally.
@@shelsparkle2691 I understand that, I think it's just more unconscious until you're older. But children do have some sense of self and even gender even if it's not something they can explain. Allowing children to see diversity in the world is not a bad thing. There should be no age requirement to learn about these things in life.
Let me explain. Sesame Street did not need to go out of their way to clarify that Bert and Ernie were or weren't a gay couple. For kids with two dads or two moms, or kids who will grow up to figure out that they are gay, having a model on television like that helps them know that those types of relationships are valid. Do you know how many gay role models young gay people get growing up? Representation matters. The point is that the creator could have just left it open for interpretation honestly. The only reason he addressed it is because of homophobic parents who don't want their children seeing anything "gay" on the television screen.
i love me some tamera but she was really rude to jeanie she did not have to make that face and roll her eyes tamera spoke her point and cut jeanie iff that why she said let her finish its a show about opinions which everyone is entitled to i was very surprised tamera acted that way towards jeanie it was really rude
When I was 5 years old watching sesame street, Burt and Ernie being gay was the furthest thing from my mind. It was simply an educational cartoon that my mother played to keep me from running around the house
I just think she’s sick of people coming for her, she’s human and she has feelings. I was reading The Real comments and she said, she responded that way to Jeannie because she misinterpreted what she said and she apologized after.
Tamera only got defensive because Jeannie said “no your kids do care” like she knows Tamera’s kids better than her. It’s cool for Jeannie to speak on her experience but don’t put that on her kids. I completely get it.
I agree with you! She acts as though she is the only one who has an opinion sometimes. You are married, you have kids, BUT Jeannie was once a child and she has an opinion too. jeannies opinion was a little off but it was still Her Opinion.
I agree with Tamera 100% but she didn't need to give Jeannie an attitude. Jeannie always respects and listens to others without judging them. Everyone has their opinions. Honestly , I thought Ernie and burt were brothers, not even friends 😂🤷
The whole “cutting off”, Tamara was in the wrong here. Instead of looking offended and putting her hand up, she should have apologized for cutting Jeannie off and allowed her to finish.
Go to Tamera's IG: She just said that she would never stop making faces. Like she felt some type of way because Jeannie touched her when she was talking about her kids.
@@lamoskgr i get she is super sensitive when it comes to her kids but she just cut jeannie off and jeannie wanted to speak before tamera started getting all "my child" on her lol
No, I agree with you. When I saw her comments I was like, what? Then they all went PC uploading pictures of Jeannie and Tam Tam together. I think the show caught this mess
She did. I took a pictures of her comment so I have receipts. I think she's going through something after the whole "Adam isn't a racist" thing and she snapped
Am I the only one who thought Bert and Ernie were brothers?! As a child growing up and loving Sesame Street, it was a routine for our family for years. My siblings were born and they’d watch. When I was an only child I remember wondering, well how could they be brothers when one is yellow and the other is orange. Then my mother remarried, had my brother and he was born about 2 shades lighter than me. At that point I understood, hmmm you don’t HAVE to be the same skin complexion as your siblings and it all made sense again. I agree with you, I think we’ve reached a point where people are trying to make things of things that were never there. We lived in a much simpler time that the shows we were exposed to, we just shows for entertainment. The lesson was very clear. You watched, you learned and moved to the next. Now people are trying to break down these shows and pull all these underlying meanings when really there weren’t any.
Yomeily Naranjo I mean but that’s your experience sis....that’s specific to you. Not everyone, so to speak generally how you yourself experienced the show is a bit weird. Much like tamera you missed the point the creator was making...in short. The characters are what ever a child wants them to be. Whether it be straight or not, siblings or not, friends or not. All of it is genuine. Now it’s up to you and who ever to label it or not. The best choice is to leave it up to the view. A lot of kid shows that aren’t Sesame Street had a lot of underlying meanings and jokes...for example a lot of Disney shows. I guess you’re also gonna say people are/were reading into it too much back then too even with jokes that weren’t for kid audiences.
I always thought they were brothers, too! I always wondered where they never had a mom and dad tell them to clean their rooms lol All I know is that when I met my husband I was able to identify real friendship love because of influences like that in my life. I knew how to spot a good friend.
I doubt Bert and Ernie were Jeannie’s BEST FRIENDS. That’s exaggerated. Maybe she enjoyed their segment as did I, but bffs, that’s a far reach. I always thought they were friends. I mean they slept in different beds. They never did anything to make me think they were in love.
I definitely didn’t see them as just friends. I saw them doing the things I was taught was reserved for a man and his wife. I was caught of guard initially by it but it became a source of hope. I also was thinking about attraction to girls and boys as a toddler. By 4 years old I realized which sex I was attracted to. I knew who’s doctor I wanted to be. I knew who I wanted to play “House” with. Did I know what intercourse was? No, but I certainly knew who physically caught my eye and who I wanted to be around. The foundation for my sexuality had already been laid. Playing games and my family and parents friends suggesting I had crushes was a constant thing. Society had already given me and understanding of what was appropriate for little boys and what was appropriate for little girls. “Little boys aren’t supposed to____, only little girls can do _____with boys.” “Little boys shouldn’t hold hands, especially beyond_____years old.” Bert and Ernie definitely defied acceptable behaviors for boys/young men.
That's not true..... as a child you think about everything maybe not 2 or 3 but at 5 I knew about relationships, people joked with me about having a lil boyfriend, heck i had my first kiss in kindergarten and no I was not sexually abused it was my own curious nature. Relationships are a BIG part of life and even kids notice and understand them, ofc as you grow older you understand more but thats literally with everything
But Tamera cut her off TWICE. That was RUDE AF. Jeannie said "let me finish" after Tamera cut her off, then Tamera proceeded to cut her off AGAIN. WTF was that for?
Jeannie dissected this wayyy too far and it really wasn’t that serious. I really never thought as a child that the characters were gay. It’s not about that. She just sounded so silly.
EXACTLY!!!! Bert and Ernie were my favorite characters on Sesame Street (next to Big Bird, Cookie Monster, and the Count)!! Some things don't need to be that deep, and everybody, including Jeannie made it deeper than it needed to be. Let kids be kids, they don't need to learn about sexual orientation as CHILDREN!!! I'm with Tamera!!

Thank you, and if this was Instagram she would block both of us for having a different opinion. The self righteousness is just too much at times. Like disagree to agree, but not her. Thank God she said to Jeannie I love you at the end of that show, hopefully she realized her reactions were a tad too much and condescending.
I think tamera was pmsing or something. She's usually not like that .... something must've been bothering her this day ... although I will always prefer jeannie over tamera
I agree with Tamara but I don't agree with her attitude and the way she went about it. First Loni and Adrienne and the very next day Jennie and Tamara. I hope they aren't being instigated to spice it up for more views or are being influenced by the negativity that sells these days. I love their positive energy and sister hood
Every children's show has an example of sexuality and relationships within the story. Just about every disney movie has the prince and princess falling in love and getting married. They show kissing, that is part of sexuality. There should be that same type of examples of healthy sexuality and love for same sex relationships.
children are not aware of these kinds of relationships unless they are adopted by an LGBT couple, in which that only makes roughly 3% of the population. Why should we cater to 3% of the population that is an ALTERNATIVE lifestyle to the natural father+mother relationship? Think ab all the families this will offend.
@@THEDOORIZCLOSEDI'm sure that's the same mentality people had about including more positive representation of black people and non- black people of color. And for those parents who would be offended by seeing that or having their children exposed to that don't have to take their children to watch that movie or show but the representation should be out there and available, even for that small 3%. Everyone deserves to be able to see themselves or their family positively represented within media.
They're always interrupting Jeannie. They seriously have no respect for her, and always look at her crazy when she says something. I've seen Adrienne, Lonnie, and now Tamera do the same thing. But no one ever says how phony it is that Adrienne is always doing the most and looking fake, or how Tamara is always worried about her demeanor, or how Lonnie has an attitude problem. They look crazy too sometimes, and they're always ganging up on Jeannie for no reason. Tamara was rude af. That's the truth.
🙏😪 Yes JEANNIE IS SO NOT GETTING THE RESPECT SHE DESERVES SHE'S A SWEETHEART SHE'S TOO GOOD FOR THIS DISRESPECT SHE NEEDS HER OWN SHOW I HATE HOW THEY LOOK AT HER WHEN THEY DISAGREE WITH HER LIKE SOMETIMES IT'S NORMAL BUT THEY OVER DO IT AND IT PISSES ME OFF
Jeannie has "disrespected" Tamera too in the past. They ALL have their attitudes at time and that is what makes them humans. No one behaves better than another.
AN Kemble I would start to disrespect someone who would disrespect me all the time too. Jeannie was always the passive one , just letting all that fly past her (especially when Tamar was on the show doing it to her all the time). Now, she just had enough, but seems to still remain the most professional and real out of all of them.
I completely agree i feel bad for jeannie she is allowed to have an opinion regardless what it is....this show is like forum discussion everyones opinion matters....tamar shut jeanni down and now Tamera....its not right!
Tamera always acting like "oh Jeannie cant say shit because wtf does she know, she ain't got no damn kids", but she fails to realize everybody, including Jeannie, was a kid at some point & therefore she can still relate & give her perspective & bring her point of view to the table. Tamera is always quick to dismiss someone's opinion just because they ain't got no kids. In some cases its valid but not this time.
You'all missed the point honestly!! Tamara was simply saying at that age kids don't know any different....straight, gay, bi or otherwise! She simply was saying love is love is love is love no matter what!!!!
Cause Jeannie was just talking cause she has a tongue, her opinion is so off u can tell she doesn't have kids. Tamera cutting her was just to say....SHUT UP stop talking crap.
Jennie is wanting to make sure everybody knows she has no problem with the gay lifestyle because in that industry, it could mean your job if you don't agree. You could lose your bakery and photography business too you know.
Hi You're absolutely right. I'm from England, and I'm 55 now and whenever these characters came on tv over here - no-one I know would have been interested in their sexual orientation! It's a kids programme! Why does everything have to be about the gay agenda? I'll take this ridiculous statement a little further. Has anyone ever stopped to think about if these puppets had a religious worldview, or if they suffered a childhood trauma? How about their heritage or family's economical stature? No! Why? Because it was never about that! They were a great idea created to entertain children and parents/adults alike! How many decent programmes can we leave our children and grandchildren in front of now a days? This is all a great shame!
Exactly! Just because someone is being portrayed as not gay or the creators are saying they are gay does not necessarily mean that gay is wrong or bad but when you save that you're implying that being straight is wrong and that everybody should be gay also-- what the heck is happening to this world? Yeah I agree, Tamera's attitude was not appropriate but I just hate with that Jeannie chick said! Oh my gosh she needs to just shut up!
MY THING IS AS A CHILD, WE NEVER WENT THAT FAR TO CARE IF THEY WERE GAY OR NOT. ONLY GROWN UP IS WHEN PPL START SAYING THEY WERE GAY. AS A CHILD YOU DONT UNDERSTAND THAT
Jeannie chill out......I know she thought she was dropping jewels, but an audience THAT young isn't thinking that damn far or to that extent. Definitely sounds like a non-parent.
@Fa Who kids do think like that tho there are children who are born gay knowing at 3 years old I completely agree with not showing it on TV but children do know right from wrong it's human instincts a child can be born lesbian or gay it has happened children are not as innocent as you think we were children once
@Fa Who your literally making me sick cause you think your right or I'm wrong 💀 every child is different hunny not every child is like what they say in a science book or in studied
@Fa Who she wasn't telling tam or anyone how to teach or school there children she was staring her opinion like how you are right now what your stating isn't a fact 😂 if you were born feeling like your not supposed to be in that body let me know because I have a cousin who was 3 already dressing like a girl who liked it nobody put that "into his head " he decided what he wanted to be so be it
@Fa Who please please please look more into gay people or transgenders they all start as children most toddlers who dress up in there mommy's clothes or in there mommy's make up or brothers clothes boy activities
I agree 100% with Tamara. If the creator said they are not gay then they are not. Dont force that on children that want to learn education to succeed. Sex and relationships should be taught by parents when they feel their children is old enough to understand...not cartoons or tv. Let children be children and let parents decide if and when that is appropriate to be taught to them.
Girl it’s much more than just puppets Sesame Street obviously has a strong impact on the community and children it’s not just about arguing over puppets 🙄

Guido Feliz why do people have to get to the sex part... sexuality or being gay doesn't necessarily mean that person is sexually fluid... they don't have to go into detail about being gay... but just the simple idea of letting it be known that they are and their friends being ok with it is what we need to learn
Guido Feliz they're gonna learn about it anyway... children are sponges so if they can learn their ABCs and 123's and know how to say this or that... what's wrong with them seeing a storyline that makes them either A : in the future if they have certain feelings open up to their friends and parents or B : be accepting to others who might be gay or bi or whatever...it's not that hard
I always thought that Bert and Ernie were brothers.. Jeannie has lost her mind. Besides why is sexuality being brought up on a children's show? That is truly disturbing no matter how you slice the pie.

Hello people?!? 2 male characters can’t be friends without being gay?? Why are we even discussing this. Everything doesn’t have to slant one way or the other to be ok.
I didn’t know what gay or straight meant when I was 5... so what’s the issue? I just thought that they were all puppets who lived on a street with a big bird. There was no need for me to delve deeper into their relationships and their sexuality. If they’re gay they’re gay... if they’re not they’re not.... as long as my kids learn their abcs and 123s I’m cool.

M Lane the point is Sesame Street has come out on more then one occasion and said they are NOT gay! I’m not mad either way....my point is let parents have control over sexuality and the way it’s taught or perceived....not Sesame Street or other cartoons
I think she was projecting her frustration with the stupidity of the issue onto Jeannie. Jeannie handled her reaction well, even if her point wasn't well thought out.
Right? I'm so tired of everyone trying to make childrens characters gay. Honestly sexual orientation didn't even come into my head with sesame street just cookies and letters
First of all Tamera acting like that was not cool she completely cut Jeannie off and she wasn’t rude to her. I think Tamera has some stuff she needs to get off her chest. Second I disagree with Jeannie’s comment but I will say I watch everything my kids watch and if they are doing or saying anything against the morals my husband and I are instilling in them we change the channel. My mom did the same thing with us growing up.
I totally agree with you. I'm.so sick of people trying to turn everything into sexuality. What happened to innocence and age appropriate things. People need to pray for love and peace and cleanliness of their minds.
The same people dont complain when disney princesses kiss their princes or when straight parents on kids shows and movies show love or affection. Bert and Ernie never whipped out their dicks or dildos. It isn't sexual.
Well, I think you are the one to pray for a clean mind if you think of non-straight relationships as exclusively sexual, and undermine the love, spirituality and emotion that comes with it.
They're friends and roommates and need not be labeled. I'm with Tamera. It never crossed my mind about Bert and Ernie's "preferences". It's a kid show...Dang!
Matthew Johnson On the contrary, and with all due respect, given the current climate someone’s child(ren) just might pose such a question, because children are exposed to lots these days. It’s not just non-expressive children watching Sesame Street. Older children watch it also. Moreover, children are much more intelligent, impressionable, and malleable than we give them credit for.

You are upset about Tameras expression but she had spoken a lot of sense... Tamera expresses herself like that and she made a valid point. Children are too young to be exposed to sexuality. Leave children to be children but proper guidance and love from a parent. She is a mother she knows what she is talking about.
kesh 108 heterosexual couples kissing in movies and cartoons is “exposing sexuality to young kids” as well, even if it’s a little peck. Is that an issue for you as well?
I agree with Tamera however, I do not watch a show with panelists from different backgrounds to hear echoes of the same views and opinions, I still like to hear different perspectives and that is important. Tamera spoke without Jeannie interrupting and all Jeannie asked for was that same courtesy. I don't know why Tamera looked so affronted by someone wanting to finish a sentence. SMH!
kesh 108 but she didnt have to be rolling her eyes and turning her lip up in the air u can get a point across then to be a dam fool about the situation she ack like the girl had called her a bitch or something, and they suppose to be friends she just want to show out but i would have gave her something to roll her eyes about right there on t,v because the other girl was being professional about it, she still remain com after hér acking like a fool it didnt make no sense

@@myainyadaniels7774 No she wasn't. She was saying that having representation on television is important for children who have same-gender parents and that Sesame Street didn't need to go out of their way to say that Bert and Ernie aren't gay. They only did that to appease homophobic parents.
Freddie Seipoldt well if they need a show with gays on it they can make one but forcing characters that’s aren’t gay to be gay so kids with gay parents feel somehow validated is ridiculous.

Tamara’s response was a little extra when it should have been “oh sorry, I didn’t mean to interrupt” or “my bad I thought you were finished” Jeannie had every right to stick up for herself. Foolish argument too 🙄
On Tamera IG in the comments she said she doesn't take well with people interrupting her with a rude tone & then touching her afterwards especially after talking about her children. But I don't think Jeannie did any of that.
@@bbloodyangel1 👏👏👏My same exact thought but I'm completely done with this show. I suggested on The Reals IG that they should do a communication workshop before starting the season. And that thang blocked me 😂
Exactly. Tamera over-reacted. There was nothing wrong or disrespectful about Jeannie's comment to "let me finish." All that extra animation Tamera gave made it a moment when there wasnt one.
Jeannie was totally reaching - i get why - but it wasnt necessary As for Tamera....she already had her back up like an angry cat because shes talking about her kids....for her to react like that throughout the segment was very dramatic and unnecessary

I agree with Tamara! I was focusing on my numbers and letters, which is the point of that show. The puppets came in all different kinds of colors and personalities, which taught me that everybody are represented. Sesame Street was and still is my all time favorite and popular show that ever been aired on television. Just my thoughts!
unpopular opinion but I agree with tam. This show came out a long time ago I was around Aiden's age wen i started watching it in the 90s and I never questioned gender I thought they were brothers. Children are not thinking about sexual orientation at that age.. let children make what they want out of the characters! they do not need a definite yes or no for this one.. I grew up not caring and my nieces never question sexual orientation in shows. It's always adults trying to shove something down a child's throat.
The adults are really the culprits. I digress, as a child and a teenager the movie grease was my favorite movie (still one of my favorite movies), and I watched the crap out of it. Now I'm an adult and still watching it, I now notice all the sexual innuendos I never noticed or heard as a child and a teenager and for this reason, I have refused to let my nieces and nephews watch it. The possibility that they will not even notice what I've noticed is very high.
@@Jujuumobi Exactly. Sometime ago I visited my nieces and they were watching the old powerpuff girls tv show on Netflix.. you would not believe the type of adult jokes on that show.. I was in disbelief, as a child all I saw were girls who were superheroes and that was enough for me!

Exactly. But then there are moms like Jada Smith. I completely disagree with how she raise her kids with no rules. But, i love that they are taught to love and respect everyone. I also love that they are conscious of what's going on in the world and are not just some bratty rich kids. They are raised to care about others. I Love that!
@@nikkibrown02 I mean clearly they have rules they just dont have the same ones as a traditional family does and quite franklynitbdont matter if they're good people who deeply card about others
I think Tamera had an attitude because it's annoying when your voicing your opinion and someone comes and interrupts you with some out of left field opinion. Tamera never stated there was something with wrong with homosexuality she merely pointed out that Sesame Street is based on creating positive images of friendship not gender identity.
I didn't know those characters were gay as a child. That's because there was a respect and a protection for children being children. It's the parents...adults responsibility to censor what children are exposed to. Leave the innocence and purity of a child's mind alone.
dancing in the Moon gypsy- Yep, glad you touched on this. I didn't see too many posts pinpointing it. That was very spiteful. I really hope Tamera apologized. She better be careful, she was in some dangerous territory. She's definitely hurting and it's obvious she's going thru stuff. She's acting very unusual. Nonetheless, that's no excuse to take stuff out on others.
I didn't understand her at first, but I had to rewatch the clip. Jeannie wasn't commenting on the post but on what Tamara said. She did not mean introducing children to sexual orientations but to show kids from a young age that different concepts of love and families exists. Because let's be real, even 1 year olds know that the concept of love is between a man and a woman and a family contains a mommy and daddy. But it's not until later that they find out that there are also other types of love. If it's introduced to them in a young age, they might have less problem with that.
Maya Sueing-Ok, let me interject here...1-year-olds DON'T understand the concept of love between a man and a woman, they only know that they have a mommy and daddy. Introducing gay agenda to kids that small will only confuse them because when they look at the fact that they have a mommy and daddy and not two mommies and two daddies they won't be able to grasp that. Plus, it's not for kids in that age group to grasp sexual orientation. They barely even know their ABC'S much less why you have two men or two women digging in each other's asses. Give me a fucking break here!!
@@mosu2973 yeah but it's the difference with love, and lust is the problem people are getting mixed up with, and if you don't address it then it can get worse.

I disagree with Jeannie.... 2 men or 2 women are simply just friends in a kid's eyes.
Robertine Urey But what if it’s their parents? Ik that there weren’t relationships in sesame so not for this show. Steven Universe had a lot of gay couples.

Melanie Grey I’m sorry but at that age I wasn’t considering any of that stuff I was busy being a child not focused on any sexuality 🤦♀️
@@shelsparkle2691 I understand that, I think it's just more unconscious until you're older. But children do have some sense of self and even gender even if it's not something they can explain. Allowing children to see diversity in the world is not a bad thing. There should be no age requirement to learn about these things in life.

Jeannie looking at this as an adult not as a 4 to 5 year old let kids be kids
How does them being gay stop kids from being kids? lmao
The RyGuy Ryan you missed the pint but ok.

Yomeily Naranjo They aren’t brothers?
I thought they were brother too.
JustKenn I was not speaking generally, I’m just sharing what my experience was as a kid. So I’m not getting this “weird” part you speak of.
I always thought they were brothers, too! I always wondered where they never had a mom and dad tell them to clean their rooms lol All I know is that when I met my husband I was able to identify real friendship love because of influences like that in my life. I knew how to spot a good friend.

I always thought Bert and Ernie were friends...as a child you don't think about gayness
Lashonay Wiley right
Lashonay Wiley Right. You only really start to analyse these characters once you’re old enough to understand relationships and sexuality.
Right..your not suppose to.

Thank you, and if this was Instagram she would block both of us for having a different opinion. The self righteousness is just too much at times. Like disagree to agree, but not her. Thank God she said to Jeannie I love you at the end of that show, hopefully she realized her reactions were a tad too much and condescending.
She did and what tf yall going do??
What points did Jeannie have she was REACHING
Jeannie was reaching and dragging it. Jeannie always does too much and explain how Jeannie had a point, it didn’t make any sense at all.
But I don’t think Jeannie was being rude??? Why was tamera in her feelings? Lol
I think they fought before this about something. No way Tamera is that upset over muppets lol if she is then she's a prude

A child innocent why they sexuality have to be now mixed into learning shows!!!!
Misty Henderson yes I agree! Let them be innocent babies. They are gonna learn later anyways. Dang just let them learn the alphabet for now lol 😂
I agree

I also believe she is aware jeannie may still have hurt feelings from her divorce. Jeanie did not want to have children

Honey I am 51 years old and Bert and Ernie was never gay ... and like you said why do we have to make everything gay...
Hi
You're absolutely right.
Jeannie, is as stupid as the day is long
Maybe because EVERYTHING is straight?
Everything in society has been straight stfu
MY THING IS AS A CHILD, WE NEVER WENT THAT FAR TO CARE IF THEY WERE GAY OR NOT. ONLY GROWN UP IS WHEN PPL START SAYING THEY WERE GAY. AS A CHILD YOU DONT UNDERSTAND THAT
So kids don’t kids or hug each other because they see it on tv but for some reason they won’t mimic gays?
Bert and Ernie were her best friends 🤔
I'm questioning that too LOL!
That was funny!!! She's putting 20 on 10 with that one
What's wrong with that?
I was with Tamera and Adrienne when they gave her the side eyes on that...until she dissected the topic a little deeper
As a kid smh
Jeannie chill out......I know she thought she was dropping jewels, but an audience THAT young isn't thinking that damn far or to that extent. Definitely sounds like a non-parent.
Your not getting what Jeanie said she's too woke for most audience including Tamera that's why she got so defensive
Tamara's expressions were uncalled for here. Underminded Jeannie (whether she was right or wrong)

Guido Feliz why do people have to get to the sex part... sexuality or being gay doesn't necessarily mean that person is sexually fluid... they don't have to go into detail about being gay... but just the simple idea of letting it be known that they are and their friends being ok with it is what we need to learn

I didn't know those characters were gay as a child. That's because there was a respect and a protection for children being children. It's the parents...adults responsibility to censor what children are exposed to. Leave the innocence and purity of a child's mind alone.
Nah Tamera doing too much. She thinks she’s the only one who can have an opinion about children. Bye wig
Because of her being s mom, she feels she has to react a certain way.
Jeanie is extra though.
@@m.d.5050 but that doesn't mean tamera should be rude to her. She has an opinion as well.
And when she said , speaking for my self the I have kids I was like ohhh 💩 there we go with the ,you dont have kids in your face . I was in Schock.
dancing in the Moon gypsy- Yep, glad you touched on this.
JEANNIE, when they said they are not gay, that was not the same as saying being gay was not okay. Gtfoh
Childd Please! Right she was reaching sooo hard
I agree, but what does that GTFOH mean?
