      There are just countless factors in search of a “correct” mathematical angle. What angle is the tent body/pitch? Are the guy-out points sewn at exactly 10 degrees?? lol. Go do geometry and find perfection. We will be in the forest!

    After seeing the thumbnail picture I was going to check the comments before watching the video to see if she was credible because her outfit didn’t scream “I do a lot of camping” but then she spoke and seemed quite knowledgeable so didn’t bother.

      Hi Chris, it's unclear what you believe somebody who camps should dress like, since litterally anyone can go camping.

      Hey Chris, nice story. I remember once I saw this book and I didn’t like the way it looked but then I read it and it was actually pretty good. I came up with something short and pithy as a reminder to me not to do that again. “Don’t jump to conclusions regarding the appearance of the bindings and protective layers surrounding sheets of compressed wood-pulp and thereby infer any connected relation to the the relative worth and/or value of the data printed upon said compressed wood pulp.” It’s really catchy and I don’t think that there’s ever been a phrase like it before.

    It's painful to watch people trying to educate, only to show they don't know their stuff themselves.
    Tent stakes are not to be put in at a 45 degree angle. Nor are they to be put at 90 degrees to the line. You put them in at no more than 10 degrees from vertical. Beyond that they will actually lose their holding power. There are decent demonstration videos here on RUclips proving just that.

    • @gobalik
      @gobalik 7 месяцев назад

      the video is 7 years old. Maybe the angle of the stakes wasnt an established fact at that time

    • @ColinMill1
      @ColinMill1 4 месяца назад

      There are also videos showing quite the reverse. The publication from which the "vertical is best" mantra came concerned itself with large scale tents where far longer stakes are driven in to a depth where compaction plays a much more significant role. Better to do a quick test to see if you have adequate hold at the site you are at than rely on a rule that might not apply where you are.

    Correct your Grammar, please: The very is "To Use", NOT "To Correctly". Heading should be 'How to use guy lines correctly". In view of your error, I have not bothered to look at the video. In view of your simple grammatical error, it also, is likely to have unbearable and unpardonable factual errors.
