I'm a survivor of a drunk driving accident. I was left with a severe traumatic brain injury. I was in a coma for one and a half months. The drunk fool who nearly killed me is constantly on probation. Never served his full maximum sentence.
My whole life was different now, I had to start anew again. My accident was in May 1993, and I kept going. Despite everyone leaving, I chose to learn about my brain injury and all the issues. Day by day is a challenge. someday, someday, they are good someday and are difficult. Living with a brain injury is permanent.

Cameron here. The driver that hit me was texting and driving, arguing with his girlfriend, in fact. The driver in particular went to school the next day and found it humorous that his wrist was broken without any mention or show of regret for killing one and almost two people. I understand the rage, I felt it for so long. I don’t think there’s any good advice to be given there. I just tried to focus on doing the best I can for me. To use my story to give people some hope and to spread awareness of just how selfish that decision to focus more on other things than the wheel is when it could put others lives at risk.

After 30 years, I can say I'm at a much better place, I work with animals, which is the absolute best therapy for me, I focus on the positive and good in my life.

I suffered from a temporal fracture on the left side of my skull, brain swelling and bleeding, broken left collarbone, fractured right fibia (or tibula I don’t exactly remember), and partially torn right acl. I was really messed up for over 3 months but I made a fully recovery, earned my bachelors degree, and am currently a law enforcement applicant. God Bless.

    Dear Cameron,
God bless you and your loved ones. Your life story is a profound act of grace and perseverance. I wish for you a wonderful family life ahead!
My nephew was in an accident with his best friend. His friend died as a result also. My nephew was completely changed in much the same way as you. It took many years of hard work and counseling for him to get through the “Survivors Guilt”.
I am so proud of him and of you Cameron, for not giving up. My nephew, like you, made the decision to honor his friend’s life by doing his best to succeed. Now, at the age of 38 he has gotten married and has two lovely little ones. It makes my heart glad to see that you and my nephew have renewed hope
to live well in honor of his best friend, just like you.
    You are a miracle indeed.
Making your life count in honor of your friend is beautiful. May your life’s legacy be filled with gratitude and mission to life with purpose and meaning.
I send you my love and respect dear Cameron.
    All the best to you.

Mark knows what his core audience are here for - for our need to better understand each other, at least trying to keep in mind that everyone I might be passing by today has their own story, wins, losses, ups and downs. My takeaway from most of these interviews is to at least try to be a more patient person, even when I don't always feel like it, (or when someone's being a total asshat) because who knows what they're going through. And working towards having more compassion (I think) is what separates us from just walking around, existing in our shells, reacting entirely from my own perspective, to being more fully human.

It’s stories like this that put things in perspective. It reminds me that the little things are little and I’m blessed in many ways.

I just love this man. He is extremely inspirational and wish him and his family the best. I know he will be the best father a child could have.

Wonderful presentation, Mark. I think a steady diet of positivity is what you need after your efforts to help some troubled people was met with negative results. Cameron's story might have revealed a tiny light at the end of my tunnel as well.

Feel great for this young man. He can help many people. When you struggle, point yourself in a good direction. Small steps will take you there. Be patient. This is how I got through severe depression but can be applied to any struggle. After thousands of small steps and 8 years, I got to the other side. I kept telling myself, someday, I will look back on this.
