This was one of my favorite's as a kid. I remember my grandmother taking me through wal-mart and buying it in 2001 or whenever. It was a big deal to have all 3 of the brothers. Sideburn was my first Transformer (cool, but tough to have as your first.)
This was the first Tranformers toy I ever had as a kid. I ended up losing it at school one day since I wasn't the most careful back in like 1st grade. Managed to find one complete on eBay for a decent price recently, so now I have all of the Autobot Brothers, and re-gained a piece of my childhood.
I personally don't think removing weapons counts as partsforming, but that's just me. I own him, or a redeco into Universe Ratchet. A very unique transformation with him into a nice robot. A fairly underrated toy IMHO.
Did anyone else use the left arm as a giant blast proof shield so he could use his other arm to snipe as he looked through his blast proof mega shield arm? You can make it so most of his body is protected by it and let him peer through the blast proof windshields to pick off foes with precision. That was my take on the ungodly bulk of the left arm. He is highly underrated. In fact, I think all of the R.i.d. Brothers were. I'm disappointed they didn't follow up with using this mold as trail breaker. I only own the Ratchet version currently and am deciding which version to acquire for x-brawn here. I feel there may be quite a few more R.i.d.s that didn't get justice. I need to learn more about this toy line. I know this was right before Altanators changed the whole dynamic.
That missile is X-Brawn's Bronco Blaster. I always pose him holding it 2-handed by plugging it into his right fist and having the left hand grip the chrome rail. Bronco Blaster!
the weird thing is that he complained about the visible head in the windshield in one of the plastic addict vids. the ever-so-gimmick-loaded sideswipe.
I never got X-Brawn, but I do remember having the repaint from the Universe line, where he was turned into Ratchet. Unfortunately, mine broke. Lost the instructions, never could transform him back into vehicle mode, and one of the tires ended up breaking off. *sighs*
Side Burn was my favorite... mostly because I'm a sucker for cars with flames painted on them. I use to own all three of them and I wanted to get the Power Linx version of Side Burn but never found it. I really like the Rodimus colors more than Tracks. I'm also color blind so Side Burns color change also seemed a lot more obvious than the other two who I always had trouble picking out the small details that I could actually see were different between them.
My favorite of the brothers was Mach Alert/Prowl (I have the US toy but prefer the Japanese name for this one) because he's a nice balance of cool vehicle mode, neat transformation, and fun robot mode. Wild Ride/X-Brawn (REALLY prefer the Japanese name) always bugged me because of the large fist. I agree that Speedbreaker/Sideburn is a pain to transform and there's also a lot of leftovers in robot mode but he's my favorite character from the cartoon so I tend to deal with it. Also, X-Brawn can hold on to the bars and either hold the weapons in his left hand or use it with the right for more neat poses.
Aw sweet, I found one of him in eBay for 15 bucks. He was the brother that slipped away back in the day, but now that I have one he's already becoming one of my favorites
Had this figure as a kid. Gave it away. Wish I hadn't, I'm thinking of trying to reacquire him. I never flipped out his left hand, I pretended the wheel was a gatling gun
Sideburn isn't that bad. The arms are a little frustrating but the worst part is probably getting the bumper and hood to not have a huge gap between them.
I love your new ending TJ, but the one problem I have with it is that it cuts off right before the climax of the piece. Was that intentional or just some screw up on RUclips's part?
If I remember correctly you said during the Plastic-Addict-review of Armada Sideswipe that you hate it when a Transformer drives himself aka the head's visible behind the windshield. Shouldn't X-Brawn here get the same "hate" for this? ;)
***** I explained it in a vlog, the chip pulls got really messy with a lot of requests that didn't match the chip, for toys I didn't own or even ones that don't exist, and some of the chips just confused people. These days with so many toylines and sub lines I'd need chips for, it would get even worse. I liked the audience participation of it, but it made the videos a lot harder than they were meant to be.
I think you should do a device label flash drive cz there are cheap knockoffs on eBay and the only difference is the color of the faction symbol and possibly the size
Hay Tj considering your tacing requests and doing theas random reviews, could you some time review RID Galvatron if you have got it, the reason Ime ascing is because its ment to have the highest number of different forms, that said what is the transformer with the most different transformations. (If you dont want to review it you dont have to but could you at leat provide the ansure in a comment or your next v log). ps thank you for all the grate entertainment you have provided over the years.
If memory serves, the animation model for this guy did cheat on that arm launcher and just treat the weapons as regular guns. But hey, it makes way more sense.
DarkdustDragon Yup; the one that TJ said he pretended was a blaster was animated as such on the show while the one TJ said he liked to treat as a melee weapon was used as a melee weapon... that IIRC could be fired as a missile. I was re-watching the series with my nephews but they got side tracked halfway through so who knows when I'll get back to it to see if I can tell for sure. XD
I know you reviewed Tidal Wave during the original Random Reviews, but I think it'd be interesting to take another look at some of Armada's better toys on Random review since it's been so long. The figures that personally come to my mind are Demolisher, and Deluxe Class Optimus Prime, but I'd be interested in seeing what other figures..........if any, other than Tidal Wave you like from Armada.
I would like you to review one of those figures: -Cybertron/galaxy force Quickmix -energon/superlink Shockblast - beast wars Optimal optimus -Cybertron/galaxy force Megatron -energon/superlink Landmine - rotf Long Haul - rotf Brawn - Dotm HA Roadbuster
The only problem with Sideburn is his overly complex transformation (wich I got used to over time). His car and robot modes are pretty damn awesome with the engine sticking out of the hood and the huge shield on his left arm.
I was looking through my transformers and when I looked through my animated toys I suddenly realized something I wish someone would have done.....the animated blackarachnia mold wouldn't be a half bad beast machines blackarachnia......all you have to do is paint it pink and green....adjust the leg kibble on her back to look like beast machines(it can be done and actually helps her shoulders....then just find something for makeshift hair....even a small peice of black fabric glued on would work and wouldn't hinder transformation.....
Jetfire48 Do you know how long it would take to review a toy that big in this format? That's like trying to review a Masterpiece or 6-changer in Rushed Review!
Southpaw Lariat! Yeah! ... I thought that was something from his little bio on the back of his packaging but since its been a while reading it and I'm not feeling like double checking it... enjoy a laugh at my expense if I got that wrong. XD What I do clearly remember is people complaining about Sideburn and then most stopping after Alternators, Masterpiece and just releases in general for the last decade. Sideburn was challenging... for his time. ;)
I do like the asymetry of the transformation...but having a third of the car on the arm just kills me for that toy...I didn't start buying transformers again until "classics/generations" came out (shame, thats a fantastic vehicle mode)
I find the right arm on X-brawn to be a little lacking. To me it seems that he could use a little, (I think his color is blue green) on maybe his right shoulder just to add a little more design to that side. But that's just my opinion. That left arm though, SO BEAST!!
All I recall is that RiD was proceeded by Superlink. I do recall seeing some Japanese only series called Micron Legend, but the animation and character designs weren't very good compared to either Superlink or RiD. I don't image that the toys would be comparable to those series either....
But there never was an Armada, or if there was, it must not have been very good because I don't remember it. Kinda like that rumor about an Alternator manga crossover with KISS. Sounds really good, but Hasbro would probably screw it up....
i remember in the show his head poped out when he was first called to action and he ejected that one person so it was show acurate aswell
Yeah!! I remember that too! I think the same character was (incidentally) harassed by Side-Burn for the rest of the show as well!!
drakesterX Kelly, why'd she always buy a red sportscar is anyones idea
This was one of my favorite's as a kid. I remember my grandmother taking me through wal-mart and buying it in 2001 or whenever. It was a big deal to have all 3 of the brothers. Sideburn was my first Transformer (cool, but tough to have as your first.)

Rubber???? Chrome??!!? PAINT!!!!??!?!?! what kind of witchery is this!!!
MICROmor It has to be the Takara rel- HASBRO!? WAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAT
I personally don't think removing weapons counts as partsforming, but that's just me. I own him, or a redeco into Universe Ratchet. A very unique transformation with him into a nice robot. A fairly underrated toy IMHO.
yeah, unless the weapons actually have panels that form the vehicle. like classics optimus prime.
@@chriscarpenter3370 I mean, the weapons form his kickboards and skidplate.

He was planned to be Trailbreaker but when the name didn't clear legal, the Universe 03 redeco was modified to become Ratchet.
Your camera. Could just not HANDLE the EPICness that was X-Brawn rolling.
As someone who inherited one of those vans and loved the Spychangers version of this guy, I need to find him sometime.
X-Brawn was one of my favorites as a kid. I still have fond feelings to this day. It doesn't hurt that I love his BEEF arm.
X-Brawn was always my favourite as well!! Still love this figure!!
That missile is X-Brawn's Bronco Blaster. I always pose him holding it 2-handed by plugging it into his right fist and having the left hand grip the chrome rail. Bronco Blaster!

I'm super in love with this new format, keep the good work!
Perhaps you could review your favorite alternators figure? I really liked that line.
One of my favorites, too. His transformation is so satisfying!
I never got X-Brawn, but I do remember having the repaint from the Universe line, where he was turned into Ratchet. Unfortunately, mine broke. Lost the instructions, never could transform him back into vehicle mode, and one of the tires ended up breaking off. *sighs*
That’ll be universe ratchet. I use to have him too and miss him
Had this as a child. Thank you

Man, I remember having this one as a kid.... Seeing this transformer again just brings back alot of good memories.
ok every one let's be honest, "car robots" is a STUPID NAME, robots in disguise is more descriptive and doesn't sound like a knockoff
Yeah but Car Robots has a lot more meaning attached to it because Car Robots was the first non-Beast Wars series in 5 years
Also that's the subline of Diaclone most of the Autobots were originally released under in Japan so it's a cute lil' reference. :v
@@chataclysm2112 how was it not beast wars when the Destrons were all beasts to start with
@@mariodude345 *Destronger, and it's not two factions of beasts fighting one another. Also it wasn't _named_ Beast Wars, so...

This figure got me back into collecting

Nice review! I have the spy-changers version of X-Brawn. Neat little figure.
I love when the weapons are used for the alt mode.
I still have this guy :D
There is a super charge version with a wheeljack color scheme.
I picked up an Energon Tidal Wave at TFNation 2018. He's the only figure I have with opposable thumbs.
Had this figure as a kid. Gave it away. Wish I hadn't, I'm thinking of trying to reacquire him. I never flipped out his left hand, I pretended the wheel was a gatling gun
Hey TJ, you forgot about the fact that you could store one of the missiles on the upper arm.
He's was my favorite as well
9:43 look out! He's got a can opener!!
One of my favourite toys from the line, I prefer the Car Robots release just because his vehicle mode has tail lights, but he's still awesome.
the first toy on this show that i actually own
Sideburn isn't that bad. The arms are a little frustrating but the worst part is probably getting the bumper and hood to not have a huge gap between them.

TV22011980 Its in the show, so no.
Y'know the weapon storage in robot mode makes alot more sense on the repaint
God damn why did I get into transformers durring Armada and not RID.. These are AMAZING.
You need to do more RID reviews. Still the best toy line in transformers
i hope that hasbro make masterpiece rid 2001 figures
Honestly X-brawn is the second best out of the RID autobot brothers
I don't suppose you'll do Fire Convoy?
TJ, whatever happened to your old format of Random Review with your bag of poker chips (or whatever they were) with toylines listed on them?
***** I explained it in a vlog, the chip pulls got really messy with a lot of requests that didn't match the chip, for toys I didn't own or even ones that don't exist, and some of the chips just confused people. I dig this mold but personally I prefer it's repaint: Ratchet. For your next RR you should do one of the non-movie characters from the 2007 movie
The powerd up version of prouwl is close to my hart it was THE figure that gave me the sprak to collect transformers
I had the spy changers X Brawn
I know you reviewed Tidal Wave during the original Random Reviews, but I think it'd be interesting to take another look at some of Armada's better toys on Random review since it's been so long. Just a question TJ if you did review Sideburn, would he be a Plastic Addict review?
The only problem with Sideburn is his overly complex transformation (wich I got used to over time). His car and robot modes are pretty damn awesome with the engine sticking out of the hood and the huge shield on his left arm.
primeoetgrunn Im just wondering about how he'd do it, as he is a good figure, but is like building a brand new car from scratch

I do like the asymetry of the transformation...but having a third of the car on the arm just kills me for that toy...I didn't start buying transformers again until "classics/generations" came out (shame, thats a fantastic vehicle mode)
Why is he called X-Brawn? Why not just Brawn?
They couldn't trademark Brawn at the time so they had to add to the name. This is before the time he would just be "Autobot Brawn".

hey its my car
sadly no, i need to get one though
***** it probably does now

Review Cybertron Megatron

Kinda like that rumor about an Alternator manga crossover with KISS. Sounds really good, but Hasbro would probably screw it up....
Dude armada exists and kiss players are real. Look it up unless you're just trolling me. In that case fuck off
RiD ruined my philosophy of crap show = crap toyline
Gaaaahhhhh!!! Rubber! Chrome! Paint! GAAAHHH!
Kaleb Staunton I'm not saying the RiD show was terrible, btw, it just was always a little too... off.. for me to like.
