  • Let's take a quick look at the gear in my BAMF 2 DLG, and then we'll go for a nice, long flight from a light toss. I'm flying with 40 grams of ballast for an AUW of ~300 grams in this video.

    So far the longest flight I’ve managed with my MD2 is five minutes and even that feels exciting. Ten minutes would be wild! You’re always working with these DLGs that for sure.

      I should try to do a one-throw 10 minute video with the Deviant! 1m is definitely harder than a 1.5m model.

    Very nice, skillful flight! This glider can find thermals easily.

    Why are 10 minutes flights so much harder when flying Poker at a contest? 🤣

    Great video. Can you direct me to a site where I can get an affordable First D.L.G. Also, can you make a suggestion for a first, Durable, D.L.G. I have been flying for years, but this D.L.G. is definitely going to be a New Ballgame. Thanks Buddy.

    Nice flight! How do you decide when to use ballast? It seemed dead calm when you launched. But obviously it worked!

    • @ArmSoar
      @ArmSoar  3 года назад +1

      That was just a lull in the wind, it was blowing before and after. Thermals looked good and I know it can get turbulent at this field when it’s blowing, so having ballast is always good. I also noticed that because we use a wind blocker on the mic for better audio, it’s sometimes quite misleading because it can be windy and you won’t hear the wind sound.

      With aileron differential and no motor or prop, you shouldn’t need a rudder..

    I’m just now getting into DLG’s. I’m curious what the advantages of not having a rudder are? Mainly weight?

    • @ArmSoar
      @ArmSoar  2 года назад

      Weight isn't a big deal now as the models are so light. It's mainly for mechanical simplicity (less things to fail) and higher launch height for me.

    What I the longest flight that you've gotten on a 1m Deviant?

    • @factoryrollracing3847
      @factoryrollracing3847 3 года назад +2

      I've had a 13-minute flight with a Deviant in a flat field and 30mins+ on a slope.

    • @ArmSoar
      @ArmSoar  3 года назад +1

      I think the most I've kept it in the air is around 15 minutes, but I usually push down after a few minutes so I don't really have any ultra-long flights.
