Nadine, thanks a lot for these great videos. I was not aware of this Camino at all, and it definitely seems to be much nicer than Saint Jean - Pamplona. Plus,. getting to Bayonne from Germany (via Strasbourg) is really easy by train.
We sat at that EXACT same bench with the fish fountain on our way into Pamplona this September. It's the perfect spot on a hot day. Also, the sheep traffic jam is the BEST way to start the day. :)
A short though charming Camino and nice to see the saga of the new stick continue. I really appreciate you pointing out a cafe Hemingway hung out it... I'm sure Pamplona's tourist industry is thankful for his highlighting of their annual bull run so many years ago. Looking forward to your continuing adventure... Cheers and adventure on!
Hard to be in Pamplona and not 'bump up' against Hemingway... though of course the city has so many other wonderful parts! But I do love the Hemingway connection :)
wondrous stuff, Nadine! it seems to take about a week to get into the walking everyday thing again...so not surprised you were just hitting your stride at the end of the Baztan! and YES the walk into Pamplona is epic! so cool to see you started a camino family...hope it keeps growing...ultreia!
I love how your phone made you look like a sparkling hologram! Wonderful Camino with a sweltering finish! Can't wait to see where you go next. I loved the menu that you filmed--when I was a Spanish teacher (two years ago) I could have totally used that for class!
Love the video. Thanks for sharing. And I have the same lodging in Pamplona when I get there next week. Leaving Canada tomorrow night. Can’t believe it’s almost here. !!! Camino Françes here I come 😮
Good luck!!! It will be great, and I hope you have a wonderful time :) The albergue in Pamplona is right on the street when you enter the old city through the gates, I think it was a nice location. And free coffee! Always a plus for me ;)
Have really enjoyed watching you walk the Camino Baztan, Nadine. I think the lesser travelled/remote Camino's really suit your style. You didn't have to spend so much time and emphasis on how many people there are and you could spend more speaking on the Camino itself and your experience. Cheers!
I think these Caminos suit me, too! Well, I DO like forming connections and seeing familiar faces at rest stops and in the evenings, but as for the walking itself, it was such a joy to just walk and be and have that landscape to myself, to get lost in my thoughts, to sing aloud, to laugh, etc, etc.
Thanks for your appreciation of the new hat... it worked great! Better than my previous hats (so clearly there's a reason that people like to wear these...)
Yes, if I ever was going to be walking late into the afternoon during a heatwave, then several morning cups of coffee and a long coffee break are the best reasons!
Your spirit really comes out in your sharing. Thank you for taking us along.
When you cross the great door of St Luis in Iruña i remember my Caminos. Take care Nadine, you catch the soul of Camino.........

Phantastic! I walked the Camino de Baztan in early September 2019 and enjoyed it very much. Fun fact: I cutted the way into the same stages.
It's always fun when someone else has walked the same stages as you!! I loved this path too :)

Yes!! It really WAS the perfect spot for a rest (and the fountain was just so cool) :) :)
