I'm not sure I've ever had baked mac n cheese; KD, yellow No-Name and homemade, yes. Baked? No. Unless one wants the crispy layer on top, what's the point? It's already cheesy. imho.
Even tho this isn’t really a cooking video, I still wanna say thanks to Julien. Because of sensory and other health issues I have (not an ED) it is very challenging to eat food, and I will often go for an entire day without eating because I just can’t do it. Turning on juliens cooking videos and watching him make food that just looks so incredible actually gets me in a good enough mindset to force myself to eat. This isn’t a cooking video but even just hearing him talk about cooking and eating is making me want to eat. Long story short; these typa videos help me to eat and stay healthy
I love that someone suggested Rebecca (Dollar Tree Dinners)! She's been doing a lot more long-form stuff on RUclips these days. I love how much she cares about making meals accessible to people in positions of food insecurity.
She should definitely highlight non animal product meals to get the best results. Otherwise she's suggesting meals that actually starve human beings to create. People don't seem to realize that to make animal products we have enslaved entire sections of the planet and are directly responsible for global starvation despite growing enough food for 10 billion people. The best way to help people with food insecurity is giving them as many environmentally friendly options as possible, not just the cheap bs. Coming from someone who spent a long time being homeless and forced to eat scraps of crap rather than actually healthy meals.
@@AL-cg4vb while you make good points, she keep people in food deserts in mind and quite frankly non-animal products are often hard to come by and much more expensive in a food desert. She does include vegetables that are available for purchase at DT.
Couple things: - I agree, Mac n Cheese doesn’t have to be baked. - I’ve made boba myself before. It’s not that hard, unless you’re talking the popping bobas, then we’re getting into science experiment territory. I looked into it, but couldn’t be bothered to get the ingredients. - They’re literally playing Pokémon Gen. 3 music during the bee boba video.
popping boba is "simple" in that it's like, two special ingredients and easy once you get used to it! honestly not really worth it unless you're making a specific flavor, the store bought ones are way cheaper (and better)
there are rubber ice trays that you can get that have tiny squares you fill up and break out when they're frozen. a little time consuming but really worth. I'd get multiples tho, so you always have a back up.
The corn pancakes! Jenna should make this as the “instead of the corn bone it’s a hotdog corn on the cob” Julie that is the next cooking video for you.
No, cuz I understand Julian so much when he was talking about texture!! I can push through not having the best taste as long as texture is good but not the other way around. Similar thing happened to me with a tofu recipe and the texture turned from crispy to soft so fast that it made me sick 😭 I forced myself to eat as much as I could to not waste food but ended up having to toss it anyway.
No idea how I missed this live, but thanks for this! So many good ideas, and I got to turn my brain off and look at good food for a while! I'd love if you did more series like this in the future. Also, seeing Julien and Matty Matheson in one video? Incredible. Imagine the collab, it would be the most chaotic cooking video on the internet.
Me and my wife actually made the TikTok mac n cheese for thanksgiving. I’m a fellow celiac but we just subbed the pasta and flour for GF options and it was *delicious*!!!
Best fried veggies are mushrooms. You use the cheapest mushrooms, the button mushroom and take the stem out. When it fries the moisture comes out and leaves mushroom soup in the cap. 10/10
I honestly lost it when Julien went "I think bro knows what he's doing here" in regards to Matty Matheson 💀not like he's a world-renowned Canadian chef or anything.... LOL love them both sm
juliieeeen, i was so confused about the ‘no reveal shot at the end’ thing but it loops on tiktok ! smart way of cutting down a few seconds and still getting people the satisfaction of seeing the dish at the beginning to know it’s gonna be worth watching edit: i got to the part where they talk about it so i know he said it too 💌
for the corn recipe, there is a very popular indian bar/pub food which is simply called crispy corn. you coat the corn in corn flour (i think, or rice flour) and fry it, then remove it all in a bowl, add whatever spices you'd like and give it a good toss. super delicious. Also with the potato pancake, another recipe to try is aloo paratha. common breakfast in north India, its like a flatbread, stuffed with mashed potato (that has been seasoned well with salt, chili powder, onion, cilantro, turmeric) and its paired with raita (yoghurt based dip).
I maintain that there are three distinct kinds of mac n’ cheese, all equally delicious but different foods: 1) Stovetop mac with just half water and milk, cooked down with noods that you don’t strain and maximum gooey yellow cheese added at the end, no bechamel or floury sauce nonsense 2) Baked mac with a mornay sauce and shredded white cheese with pull like gruyere, maybe some grated nutmeg, breadcrumbs and parm on top 3) copious amounts of Kraft (blue box) mac boiled for just a little too long so that it’s extra soft and made with whole milk, one and a half “cheese” seasoning packets and a tablespoon of mayo.
25:27 I’ve got this going at work and istg I was dancing in my chair and I look down to see Julien vibing too. I straight up felt the same way like I didn’t hear a thing she said when I heard the rockin around the christmas tree music 😅
Are the cinnamon rolls by Vegan Richa? She has a lot of GF recipes! Also, re: the lobster mushroom, it's actually quite common for people to respond differently to different mushrooms. When foraging, it's always recommended to eat a small amount first to see how your body responds. Digestion issues are incredibly common with certain types of mushrooms, so it could be that your body has issues with lobster mushrooms, but not other types of mushrooms. In fact, 'lobster mushrooms' aren't so much a type of mushroom; they're mushrooms that have been affected by a secondary fungal infection, so it could very well be that your issues are due to that secondary fungus, not the mushroom itself. If you've had oyster mushrooms before without issues, I wouldn't worry about it too much.
As a fellow 4/17 Aries, can confirm mac and cheese is so much better unbaked, finally someone said it besides me, blessings upon you and your cow (Bunny).
asking about the flavour in the irish potato pancake is hilarious when you find out we're known to literally not flavour anything. Coddle? No taste, just boiled sausage and potato stew. I'd have to COVER that shit in cheese, add some gochyjang sauce or something
The salad lady has a baking company and they do the best mini cupcakes and before seeing their videos that was how I knew of the name. She’s the queen of balance
I didn't even know Mac and Cheese was supposed to be a baked dish at all. I always thought people did that because they thought it was fun or creative to do it that way and I always thought it just tasted burnt, like "why ruin a good mac and cheese?" 🤣 Now I'm older maybe I should give making it that way a go, because maybe the people who's Mac I ate as a teen just weren't good cooks

came here looking for this
Yeah if it was in a little cylinder mold and then fried that way

I wheezed so hard
Now you gotta make Jenna a vegan version of the cheeseburger soup dude
I'm sure when he makes it for Aries kitchen he'll bring some for Jenna
i love cheese burger soup 😭 and cheese burger mac is good too!!
Man I miss Jenna. I just know she would’ve scream laughed at penis butter 🥲 even if she could just try the food at the end of Aries kitchen 🥺
garbage bowl soup = garbage plate dish
especially since she likes those trash plate recipes from living in NY, it seems like a fancier version of that recipe he did for her ages ago
Hey Julie. That aggro girl flipping us off and cooking amidst household chaos is an ✨aries✨
That explains a lot, lmao. I love Melissa, she's chaotic, but she's also just very unapologetically herself and I love that for her.
Same thought, lol. But Julie has a touched nerve when watching other aries. Remember when his self sim slammed the fridge door? 😂
So blown away by chat being against non-baked mac like!? Y’all have never just made kraft dinner and called it a night!?
Bruh I just be ripping up cheese slices and mixing it in over a low heat with butter most nights
Baked Mac and cheese is a no go for me!

his reaction to the pie 😂😂😂😂
Saying you don't like baked mac & cheese then later saying you're a texture guy 23:40 , makes perfect sense.
Me personally I also like foods almost entirely based on texture but I really like the texture of baked mac and cheese
That hamburger soup has to be a trash pile cousin for sure, Jenna needs that ASAP.
Garbage bowl.
"Trash pile" you mean garbage plate?😭
I'm so happy to see dollar tree dinners made the cut! She's got some amazing recipes and she always keeps in mind people who live in food deserts
I almost woke up my sleeping child laughing at Julien being offended at the green slime aggro lady 😂😂😂
Woke up my dog because I was cackling and hooting so loud.
the "turn off the video when this recipe would kill me" and turning the next clip off in a second flat is so funny 😭
I’m weak over the lady giving the finger after Julien felt she was annoyed 😂
