I think this really highlights how little trust many creators have in their potential audience. It can cause us to want to rush through a story for fear that if we don't, we lose their attention. You're doing a great job at combatting this mindset that I think many of us have.
Definable hard to get a video edited and time consuming. I find your videos extremely helpful! My videos have noticeably got better from applying your suggestions! Thank you for your content!
I would cherish time spent learning your wisdom as you roast my videos. I got a couple of viral-ish videos but I know I'm lacking. Your content has really inspired me and I'm super glad you're sharing this knowledge. Thank you. Cheers J
These types of breakdowns are my favorite particularly like when you explain how it could be better then actually show a new example edit of what you mean.
@@WrestlingColin True! But I could put in those countless hours and I am quite certain I would never even get close to what he is able to do. Techincally I'm sure I could learn all the editing software but in terms of HOW to use them best and the storytelling well that is akin to artist talent. I could spend 10,000 hours learning to paint or write songs but I won't be Picasso or the Beatles. So you need the hours and the innate artistic talent combined. The top influencers were smart. They realized they don't need to be editing and storytelling geniuses. They just need Hillier.
This is fantastic! I’ve always done animation so I have more background in that area, but I’ve recently started a personal channel with me on camera, and I’m just bingeing your videos to learn more. Keep them coming!
When I see a notification that Hillier uploaded, I know it's going to be another video full with great and useful ideas! Thank you Hillier! I love those roasting videos!
I make gaming videos and this has helped me 10 fold understand how i can change my own editing in what i thought was limited to being significantly more engaging. especailly the creating more tention and showing perspective and your idea of whos got more power
Please make more of these vids where you critique influencer's editing. I LOVE these. It's the most concrete way I learn from you, other than your mistakes vids. Thx. Justin
amazing video, content and tips for video editing giving a bit of "tension" to the viewer! Hope to see something like this more often in the future. Well done Hillier!
Thank you for a very informative video. This really helps me see the levels to this game and makes me understand how to be better. Much love HIllier, hopefully one day we will cross paths.
I'm starting to develop an inner-Hillier voice, and I like it. Great stuff man, now to just get myself to stop binging your content and finish these next few videos.
An example that came to mind 4:42 an example of what you're talking about that came to mind is James Bond. In the movies they always have a scene where he gets his fancy arsenal and we get an explainer of what happens. You get to latch onto it and have something to think about. You know he has a fancy laser watch or a car missile or something and you want to see how he's gonna use it. Also in anime they always delegate a lot of time to establishing a new characters strength.
Was your intro added on at some point? Or was it intentional from the beginning? I feel like it's a clunky way to say what you said. Can't wait to watch this one!
Just clicked on the thumbnail because I wanted to let you know it's too cluttered and how I would *never* click on it, but I love your work so left a like.
I have an editing class! Sign up here: hayden-hillier-smith.mykajabi.com/edit-like-an-artist
Incredible video, this is SUPER helpful!
FOR SURE
This is awesome, I wonder if Hayden does a weekly Podcast that talks about Editing like this...
ya! I wonder when he will start doing podcasts.🤷♂🤷♂🤷♂🤷♂
Well if you make reacts Hillier to videos with a great idea but bad editing bad music bad conflict
He does the editors podcast.. it’s good too!!
Probably not, I doubt he's that cool
Got to love his confidence, especially for a dude that production houses use as "the poster child of what not to do" 😂
I love this format. Critiquing an already published video is a really effective way to make the narrative techniques and lessons hit home.

Couldn't have said it better myself.
Definable hard to get a video edited and time consuming. I find your videos extremely helpful! My videos have noticeably got better from applying your suggestions! Thank you for your content!
Your really good at what you do & we appreciate these videos. I'm trying to get better. I love it
They should just do the same series again with these lessons. That series has good potential.
Yeah
Absolutely
I'm just finishing project and I feel like it is boring... Omg this came at the right time 😃 It motivated me to make it better! Thank you ☺
I would cherish time spent learning your wisdom as you roast my videos. I got a couple of viral-ish videos but I know I'm lacking. Your content has really inspired me and I'm super glad you're sharing this knowledge. Thank you. Cheers J
Very instructive video ! Thx

This is the best series he do on his channel!!!! Not only is it beneficial for the creator but viewers as well
Hillier is an editing and story telling prodigy. His brain just does this seemingly without effort.
its frustrating huh lol. watching him make it look so easy.. and also having the "oh yeah duh!" moments.. knowing we could never
It feels effortless because he's put in countless hours of work to get here. His effortless critique is the product of experience.

This video is insane. Thank you so much for the free knowledge 🙏
This is fantastic! I’ve always done animation so I have more background in that area, but I’ve recently started a personal channel with me on camera, and I’m just bingeing your videos to learn more. Keep them coming!

This is some next level gem type of video, love it.
When I see a notification that Hillier uploaded, I know it's going to be another video full with great and useful ideas! Thank you Hillier! I love those roasting videos!
We are starting a second channel and this video is perfect! Would love to connect bro!
I make gaming videos and this has helped me 10 fold understand how i can change my own editing in what i thought was limited to being significantly more engaging. especailly the creating more tention and showing perspective and your idea of whos got more power
Now this should be a series!
Bros looks: 🤓
Bros advice: 🗿💪

Great advertisement segment. One of the best I’ve seen.
amazing video, content and tips for video editing giving a bit of "tension" to the viewer!
Hope to see something like this more often in the future.
Well done Hillier!
I love how these videos roast their editing, and my editing at the same time lol
Wow, never heard about Lickd before. I'll definitely look into that!
Love the South Park reference around 16 mins in “but” this happened “therefore” this happens. Biggest shift for me for story telling
Genuinely appreciate all the free value you provide. Thank you.
Thank you for a very informative video. This really helps me see the levels to this game and makes me understand how to be better. Much love HIllier, hopefully one day we will cross paths.

This is actually awesome to see it broken down on a deeper level
the ability to see the problem and have solutions,to how it can be better is on another level. True master of his craft.
Love you Hillier! Great roast. Awesome thumbnail + title on this one bro! You are killing it as always. Keep it up man
this is my favourite format of yours

Haydens bootcamp checking in!! get the F off my rock!!!
THIS IS FUCKING AWESOME. What a bad ass idea. So happy I subbed.
Just an awesome video, don't remember learning this much from a single video before.
It’s always interesting when someone with 8k views on a video tries to tell others to get more views why they aren’t doing well. The Irony.

Awesome video. Really enjoyed watching this! Both entertaining and informative.
NICE INFO MAN. THANKS.
99% credit should be editor's for a viral video. Now I know.

Hayden youre a genius. Perhaps the genre of these Challenge vids are cooling off a bit.

Hey Hayden, love your editing breakdown and work on the editing podcast, I hope I will become a professional video editor like you.
Just clicked on the thumbnail because I wanted to let you know it's too cluttered and how I would *never* click on it, but I love your work so left a like.
