Great vid,I'd be wary of those cheap Chinese reels around saltwater. The bearings may be sealed but things like the springs in the spool tension knob, drag clicker adjustment, salt getting in the gaps where the spool release button etc . A thin smear of water repellent grease like inox or the like would be a good idea. You even have to do this on ocean multipliers built for the purpose. Cheers and all the best, love the channel.
Whoa! What a reel, if this is true footage, and there’s no reason for to me to disbelieve you, then this is a stunner. Also, I have to say this is a cracking example example of a blooming good video/review. Very good camera/video angles, so we can see everything. Very clear audio so we can every thing you are demonstrating. Plus, a well thought-out presentation of what you want to say and what you do and how you present this to us. You make it look easy. I really enjoy it, all. I was so absorbed I didn’t mind that you didn’t catch a fish!! Thank you.
All genuine Dave. If I can cast those lures with my level of experience it is a great bit of kit. It probably will not last a lifetime like a Shimano but well worth the money. Love it. Just wish it had been sunny so that you could have seen every time the lure splashed down. Next mission catch a fish in it.
@@TheConstantAngler you’ll do that “fish catching business, no problem!” I think it’s cracking bit of kit. I’ve a few reels already, but probably like you (and others on this forum) I can’t help myself!! You testing much appreciated, keeping the bfs alive and real for us!
Do bear in mind that in this video I only use 50m of braid which is standard practice in the UK and I am trying to simulate a fishing situation i.e I am not trying to rinse every last inch of distance out of the reel. I find if I have to add a click or two of extra end tension to control the reel it gives me the confidence to cast harder and achieve the distance I require, rather than purposely fish it on its very limits as this is not what you would do in a fishing situation. With the lightest lures i have the spool tension set so as there is some side to side play but still runs very freely. With the heavier lures i just back off a couple of clicks or have it set so as the drop is as free as possible, with the lure hitting the water below me and creating no frap ups. Hope that helps.
Great show and tell video. I have the original dark wolf and do struggle a bit with it. But after watching you adjust this little gem I will play around with mine a bit more. If all else fails I will be ordering an Ultra. :) Keep up the good work.
Oh Mate, you do cost me some money :-) crackin review I expect I shall have to buy one to go with my Tsurinoya Elf AJI, currently using the Original DW50 with ceramic bearings and, I love it to bits but, this new one sounds and looks a lot better. If it's that good out of the box what will it be like with ceramic bearings?. Well done for staying out in that weather.
You don't need ceramic bearings at all.... yes, it's this good. The control comes from the standard bearings... I would suggest that you add some BFS oil from Shimano onto the bearings and bingo... that should make your reel smoother.
I did noticed a slight squeak on reviewing the footage, so they could be a bit dry. Will do. Lovely reel though. Just need to find some time to get out and catch something now.
Cool video. Please could you let me know how the finish is holding up on the fishing rods grip? I want to get this fishing rod but im afraid the finish would wear off fast?
This Dark Wolf Ultra KF50S. Much better reel. Tolerance tighter between spool and frame. If you do the simple magnet addition even better. Check out “Fishing Discoveries” on RUclips where Paul shows you how to do it. It’s cheap and easy. Good reel without it though
Depends what you want it for. You could go longer if there is a need to cast further. I used it for small rivers and canals. Unfortunately I broke the tip. No fault of rod I shut it in the car door🫣
I’ve came across on your channel from doing so much research on my first bfs reel and first bait casting reel it’s a lot of learning curve for me but i’m willing to learn and teach myself how to use bc.. in your honest opinion is it worth it to have this reel as a beginner or just get a shimano slx bfs which my budget is sitting or any other suggestions will be much appreciated.. Thank you & greetings from Aus
It depends on how light a lure you wish to throw. If it’s 2.5gr up then the SLX or Curado will perform well but if you really want to go below that grab yourself the Ultra as with the magnet modification it will do it all. In this video I haven’t modified the reel at all. If you check out Fishing Discoveries on RUclips or online you will see how easy it is to modify and how cheap it is.
@@TheConstantAngler I really appreciate your quick response and insight into this, you really made me clear up some of my thoughts and I think I know now what suits me of my style of fishing, I think i’ll settle for the slx bfs but I’m not sure if it’s going to be available here in Australia if not probably I’ll just gonna order digitaka or any japanese online shop, thank you and I’m binge watching your channel now 😅… Looking forward on your next videos..
Да, это первая бюджетная катушка, которая может бросать приманки менее 1 грамма прямо из коробки. Yes, this is the first budget reel that can throw less than 1 gram of lures right out of the box.
Thanks sir... Budget Finesse rules, lol. May i ask? Is x8 or x4? I ask seller in Kingdom store, that PE is x4 sir, i confirm from seller in shopee. Edit : how thats PE perform?
Your correct. It is a x4. I saw the 8 on the box and assumed it was 8. It casts well but I haven’t caught on it yet. There could be some quality control issues as members of my Facebook group have reported incorrect breaking strains/diameters. Others are happy with it though
@@antareslonghorn6943 unless you can measure the diameter with a micrometer not really. I’d suggest either risk it or buy a braid you trust in same pe.
Not used it but heard nothing but good things about the Dragon 2. The Silver Needle is very good but possibly has a faster action so may not be as suitable.
How does this compare with the PW100? I've just ordered one and I am wondering if I should cancel my order and get this for the £7 difference? Many thanks!
Not had experience of it but the newer model doesn’t have dynamic brakes now so no I wouldn’t as the KK has dynamic brakes which should help cast very light lures better.
@@TheConstantAngler I've watched on YT comparison between static and dynamics on DWU and the new version with static brakes performs as good as dynamic with extra magnets while casting very light lures
@@marcinprzytua9926 I have seen this and it might be the case. The DWU is a great reel so I guess it depends on your budget. The difference is that you will get a flatter casting trajectory with the dynamic brakes so it will be easier to cast under trees etc.
@@TheConstantAngler I had some clunk in the main shaft. There was a gap between the bearing and the mounting plate. The shaft would pull away from the body about half a mil or so but it was enough to feel. I wrapped a bit of 20lb Seaguar in the gap and sealed it with thin superglue. Now it’s totally solid.
